“I like the way your smile hits me right in the heart.”
I’m addicted to badass bikers and broken characters. Bella Jewel never fails to deliver both when she writes MC Romance. I’ve enjoyed her books when she writes other sub-genres, but I confess there’s just something about the alpha caveman way her bikers talk, saying so much with so few words, that just does it for me. I was very excited to read Darkest Hour and learn Koda’s secrets, even ones that not even his brothers know.
It’s amazing that Charlie is still capable of caring after what she’s suffered in her short life. It’s not like she’s had much experience on the receiving end of it. Being raised by a monster takes a toll. The darkness starts taking over and the light is hidden. After only a brief breath of fresh air, the darkness comes calling again and she finds herself in the care of a broody biker. He’s been assigned to protect her, but he’s not happy about it and makes it very clear.
The tension is intense between these two as they are locked away in the wilderness together. They act like they hate each other, but this reader is leaning toward that old adage about there being a fine line between love and hate. See, I have an inside track since I’m reading from both of their POV’s. I see what they’re saying to each other, but I’m also reading what they are thinking about each other. And let’s just say that burning is involved. One minute they condemning each other to hell, and in the next minute they are burning with lust for each other.
The author treated me to an alternating present/past scenario to bring me up to speed as to what caused both Koda & Charlie’s current state of damage. And I must say, it’s amazing they are still functioning after everything they’ve been through. It’s no wonder they seem to connect with each other. “We are both so incredibly broken, so incredibly damaged by our past, but mostly we hold blame, and guilt, and an emptiness not many can understand.” But will they allow themselves to find comfort in each other? Will they find the strength to trust again and hope for something more than merely surviving? Will Charlie forgive him when she finds out what he’s hiding from her? Will she allow him to slay her monster, or will she claim that prize for herself?
I’m very happy to report that this isn’t the end of the Iron Fury MC series. I’ve counted at least three more single brothers that need to find a woman, and you never know when a new member will be added. I can only hope there will be many more installments in this series. I can’t wait for the next one. The line forms here…
This is the third book in the Iron Fury series and probably the one that will have you on the edge of your seat for most of the book. Charlie and Koda both have endured pain and suffering that has influenced who they are today. As the darkness that settles over their souls becomes entwined it might be too much for these two to accept that maybe they are each others new beginnings. At times you might just want to knock some sense into Koda as his decisions and actions push Charlie further away. The journey for these two to find their way out of the dark that has surrounded them for years will have you anxious, frustrated, angry and at times heartbroken. However keep in mind that sometimes all that darkness makes you appreciate the light so much more when you finally discover it. Cannot wait for the next instalment of this series.
Another great read for us I have to say we are loving this authors books.I will say that this story is not for the faint of heart as the story contains strong violence, abuse and rape as long as murder and is very graphic with the details of those things making the book more gripping and having you glued to the pages as I wanted revenge for all these misdeeds right along with Koda and Charlie.
The story was heart wrenching as both Koda and Charlie have been left broken because of this man’s evil deeds they both know him as Shanks who also turned out to be Charlie’s father .As I kept reading and learned all that Charlie suffered and had gone through it was enough to leave your heart aching for her.I honestly don’t know how she survived such brutally but ,though it all as bad as it was it just made her a survivor.
I need to go back to the beginning and read how Charlie actually got hooked up with this MC but , I get the gist that she did a good deed and now she has their protection at her back.Oh man these men are bunch of hot bad-asse’s. They all are just so yummy…
I always pick a favorite character in the story I am reading and this time around mine is going to be Charlie.I loved Charlie from the onset this women was a bad-ass in her own right.Charlie was a loner with a tortured soul but, she had the capacity to love with one wholes heart whether with the friendships she forged or the man she desired.Charlie surprised me the most as I was amazed that her brutal life did not rob her of the capacity to love her childhood did not break her after all.I loved the camaraderie she had with the women in the MC as it was the only time she let herself go and enjoy life and that we got to see to her laugh and be happy even if they were stolen moments in time.
I loved that she was strong, loving, smart, feisty, had a smart mouth, had a sense of humor and was sexy and a backbone made of steel.I loved the chemistry her and Koda created even though he fought it most of the time. Koda & Charlie had a love hate relationship but, my thought from the onset of their attraction to one another is that they were just to alike and lived in constant pain and regrets. Koda and Charlie definitely had heat and sparks between them and then throw Mason into the mix and things were even hotter.
Koda, Omg! loved this bruting broken man from the onset of the story. You felt the pain this man lived in and his constant regrets at not being able to save his twin brother. It hurts even more when that brother is your own twin and your connected to them in ways others can’t understand. The more I read about him the only thing I wanted to do is just go up and hug this man and console and inconsolable man.On the other hand I wanted to smack him more than once for his treatment toward Charlie especially knowing somewhat of what she suffered at the hands at that monster they call her father.I just wanted more than once to tell him to wake up before its to late Charlie can heal you and you her.
We loved it from cover to cover. The story had you engrossed from the first few pages as the story was dark with danger lurking at every corner and held a great cast of characters for you to love.I love a story when two broken souls find one another and by loving each other put you on a path of healing and letting go of old ghosts and letting go of all those horrible things that kept you in the dark for so long and giving you a chance for happiness.
I am so looking forward to this series as it continues and will be reading the others in this series I missed.

Personal note: Be sure to check out this authors other MC series if you liked them dark and dangerous, gritty, with hot men with sexual appetites that are hard and foul mouthed but, hotter then hell!
Charleen “Charlie” had lived through hell and she was still running from it. She watched her mother murdered in front of her and her father plunged her into a nightmare that was unimaginable. When she met up with the Iron Fury MC and they promised to protect her, she took them at their word. What she didn’t expect was Dakoda “Koda” to be her protector. A man who had a hidden agenda of his own and once Charlie found out what that was, it had the power to destroy what was left of her. In this third book of the Iron Fury MC series we follow Charlie and Koda as they traverse their emotions as well as the danger that surrounds them at every turn. I love this series and this book so freaking great! This author has a knack of writing amazing stories with a dark twist that I just love. Definitely a MUST READ!!!
Darkest Hour is my first Bella Jewel book. It’s not the first in the series but it can be read by itself. I had no trouble keeping up.
Darkest Hour is told in both the present and in flash backs. You get a little extra dose of the reality these two faced. Dark days can’t even begin to describe the Hell they faced. The Hell they are planning to take on…
It’s rough and gritty. Filthy fun and violence are not lacking.

This is the third book in the Iron Fury MC series and we finally get Vice President Koda’s story. Koda is determined to get his revenge for what happened in his past and when Charlie turns up looking for protection against the same person Koda is looking for, he’s not going to let the opportunity get away from him. Of course he’s not counting on Charlie. While Koda is everything you’d expect from a biker, he’s a hot, bossy, dominant, possessive, alpha asshole, he’s met his match with Charlie. Giving back as much as she gets means these two are constantly bickering and the sparks fly between them. I admit I kind of wanna be her. Not the stuff she’s got going on, you know like having a price on her head and her life been in danger…but if I could be her without all that, I’d so be jumping at the chance to tangle with Koda.
Really enjoyed this book. Can’t wait to see whose story we get next.
