Going through an apocalyptic event doesn’t mean the end of the world. My dad is a modern day Noah, you know building an ark, trying to save folks and getting my brother, and I ready for the impending end of days – whatever that means. Nothing in his prepper manuals had us ready for what actually happened. I had nothing to prepare me for Jaden and Lachlan. Heck, I don’t know of any girl that would … would have been prepared for those two. There was nothing to prepare us for the things that go bump in the night or zombies, although now that I think on it, zombies might have been easier to deal with than what really happened. No, an apocalyptic event is just a set-up for things in our world to be shaken AND stirred. What will rise from the ruins remains to be seen

Be prepared to fall into the utter horror and despair that a post-apocalyptic world can truly become. The horrors that humanity is capable of inflicting on each other and the evil that can be brought forth is unfathomable.
I was blown away by Amelia. She has surprised me on every level, some good some devastating. She has gutted me a few times and yet I am ready for more.
Emma, Jaedan, and Lachlan, continuing the search for Emma’s brother Grayson.
Emma’s story has progressed so much as she has had to survive. She has been betrayed, loved and learned who and what she really is. In this book her life changes, even more, everything changes, more betrayal, love, loss, yet she fights.
Emma is still a kick-ass heroine, although you do see more of her vulnerable side.
Azrael was unexpected, but WOW. I won’t say more because I don’t want spoilers.
I loved Death Before Dawn and can’t wait for the next story.
I could not put this book down. Loved every minute of it. This is the first book of the series. I can not wait for the third book to come.
A first in this series. It’s set in an apocalyptic world and it’s well written. This one was a bit surprising but definitely a fantastic read. It is full of twists, action, supernatural, and has some surprises. Definitely recommend.
Nothing like the end of the world to make you enjoy the irony of an apocalyptic story!u2063u2063

Reading the first few chapters was a little frustrating, the MC was hard to connect with and I was actually a little scared that I’d stumbled across a tame NA fic that I did not sign up for.u2063u2063

That will teach me for doubting Amelia Hutchins!u2063u2063

Once the story gets going – the emotional rollercoaster that I know and hate to love in Amelia’s books came through!u2063u2063
u2063u2063
The constant yoyoing of feelings between the two MCs will give you whiplash – but I’m certainly interested to see how it plays out.u2063u2063

Emma the female lead is extremely petulant and immature – she’s definitely no Lena or Syn! The last character to irritate me this much was Mac from the Fever series (and then I ended up eating my words)…u2063u2063

Jaeden – I have high hopes for him, but – for a badass vampire, he’s under the thumb. He thinks he’s in control? Bless him.u2063u2063
u2063u2063
Lachlan – I need more of him! I hate love triangles and I hope that this doesn’t turn into one. *But* I do hope we see more of him in book two!u2063u2063

Would I recommend?u2063u2063

Yes, though, if you are a hardened fan of Amelia’s – do not start this series thinking it will be ANYTHING like her other books. That was my mistake and I think I would have enjoyed it more, if I had read this series before her other books! u2063u2063starting the second book tomorrow – because I need my Amelia Hutchins fix before her new releases this month!

Darkest Before Dawn is book one in Amelia Hutchins’ Guardians Diary series. If you are familiar with Amelia’s writing then you know she has a vivid imagination and pushes the limits with alpha-holes you love/hate and kicka** females. If you are new to her then you are in for a wild experience.
A virus has spread free, and people have died all over the world in this dystopian, post-apocalyptic world, but it’s not just the virus that Emma and her family need to worry about, there is darkness and others lurking in the shadows. Emma’s father has been planning a shelter for the end of the world for 10 years, everyone thought he was crazy. With plenty of room and supplies, Emma’s dad and her search for survivors to take them to the shelter where they train the newcomers to help with the work. But when a call for help has Emma’s dad leaving and not returning it’s up to her with her best friend Addy to continue on his legacy. While out on her patrols Addy runs into a mysterious man, he is a sexy Viking that has her body lusting over him, but in her patrol disguise he thinks she a boy and tells her to go home. When Emma runs into the mystery man Jaeden a second time and ends up saving her life from a rogue wolf, a scorching kiss is exchanged and Jaedan makes sure to let Emma know he wants her. And so the sexual interactions and pull and push begins.
If I had read this series before Amelia’s Fae Chronicles series I would have said that Jaeden was mine but I have read the FC and Ryder is and always will be my alpha-hole. Although Jaeden is dominant, strong, smart, seductive, possessive and sexy he is no Ryder. I just loved the characters and storyline in this book not only do we get strong main characters the secondary characters Addy, Grayson, Lachlan, Bjorn, Sven and Shamus are great additions. This has a twilight vibe to it but it’s amplified to suit adults with chemistry that pours off the pages between Jaeden and Emma. At times Emma’s character dies get a little annoying with her inner dialogue, her brother Grayson came off as a typical spoiled tween that thinks her knows everything and what’s best.
But overall a really enjoyable read with lots happening, full of twists, surprises, mystery, action, sexy time and supernatural beings. Looking for to see what’s going to happen in Death Before Dawn.
Amelia Hutchins is a master of all things paranormal and sexy. This book is part of a series and all her series intertwine, so definitely get a list of which order to read them, but read them all. She will knock your socks off and leave you wanting more!
Loved it!
Great beginning to an amazing series!!! Love the characters and can’t wait for more!!!!
I’m a well seasoned romance reader, I’ve read thousands of books, and I want to tell you that this has got to be the sexiest talking male character I’ve ever read!!! You will love every thing that comes out of his mouth!! Just a really good book, try it, you’ll be glad you did!
I love this book from the moment I started reading it I couldn’t put it down it had tons of action drama, sexual tension, vampires werewolves some kind of weird virus apocalypse I’m so looking forward to the next book.
I put off reading this series for so long and now I’m so glad I finally read it. Maybe it was the word Zombie in the description that threw me (there are absolutely no zombies) or because I judged the title and assumed it would be written like diary entries, but of course I was wrong! This book is amazing and I loved it so much I finished it in a day. It’s one if those books that you have to know what happens next and when you figure it out it leaves you breathless. And don’t even get me started in the sex scenes! This book is worth the purchase and the read! Don’t judge it like I did!
Awesome series! Love Amelia Hutchins!
