Welcome to Darkblood—oops, I mean Darkhen Academy. There are three rules to survive the elite supernatural school:1. Do not talk or even look at The Seven, the uber-powerful supes that rule the academy.2. Never go into the Fae forest on a full moon… or else.3. And most definitely do not fall for one of the extremely hot and unattainable instructors. Too bad I’ve never really been a rule … instructors.
Too bad I’ve never really been a rule follower…
A year ago the supernaturals came out of the closet on primetime TV, and about a minute ago I, Luna Hallows, found out I was one of them—well, a half-blood anyway.
So here I am at Darkhen Academy, the only human and no magical abilities to speak of. The only reason I’m here is because of my father—a man I didn’t even know existed until now. He’s crazy powerful, and they think I could be too. But what could I possibly contribute to an exclusive squad of dragon shifters, fae, witches, and vampires?
I guess we’re about to find out because the merging of the supernatural and human realms isn’t going as smoothly as planned. If word gets out that humans are no longer safe from the supes, our worlds will once again be closed off.
It’s up to us to stop that from happening.
***This is an upper YA/NA crossover with schmexy supernatural guys and is best suited for age 16 and over. Be warned, the steaminess factor does increase through the course of the series!
***Darkblood Academy is set within the world of Hitched but it’s not necessary to read that series first to enjoy this one.

Darkblood Academy just might be my new favorite read. I loved every single bit of it. I was sucked in from the very first page and didn’t want to put it down, so I didn’t. I ended up reading it all in less than a day, and I regret nothing. The only downside is now I want more.
While this book is a bit of a spinoff of G.K. DeRosa’s Hitched series in that it takes place in the same universe and has some crossover characters (my favorite being Ryder), it also stands on it’s own two feet and can be read without having read Hitched first—though you should because it’s awesome.
Darkblood Academy focuses on eighteen-year-old Luna, whose world gets turned upside down when she finds out she’s a half-blood, (half human, half supernatural), and though she has no powers to speak of, yet anyway, she’s taken to study at a school for supernaturals for her own safety. With the intrigue of The Seven, and the threat against Luna’s life unfolding, this book had me flying through the pages. The world building and character development was spot on. Luna is the perfect blend of spunky and relatable, making it impossible not to root for her from the very beginning, and the chemistry between her and Ryder… oh yeah, definitely perfect. I can’t wait for book two!
Absolutely LOVED this book!
Yes, another academy book with a main character not knowing their true origins. It’s been done, but where the author takes it is the true test of the book. From page one, you definitely know this tale will be much more ominous that you think. The MC gets pushed to limits far faster than normal and at every turn, layer upon layer of more unanswered things build. Book one is definitely on point and has guaranteed that I will be loading in book two. All my reviews are always voluntarily written.
Maybe nothing new in the YA genre, but I still enjoyed reading it. Magical school with lots of different supernaturals, both students and teatchers – what’s not to like?! I actually liked ALL of the characters, even though I thought Luna sometimes acted a bit childish for her age (she’s 18). Another thing that bothered me a little was all the descriptions of how gorgeous everybody was. I get that most supernaturals are good looking, but it gets tiresome to read it repeatedly.
There are some rather hot kissing scenes in the book. It works for me, but might not be for everyone. This is also some kind of spin off-series from Hitched by the same author, but I haven’t read that and I didn’t feel that I needed to in order to understand this book.
I loved the characters and seeing Luna’s experiences unfold. Also? LOVE Ryder, her off-limits love interest. Great book with a gripping story that kept me reading!
Half-Blood is Book 1 in the Darkblood Academy series. This is one fabulous Academy book. It is a spin off of the Hitched series and it enhances the world building. We also have some of the characters from the Hitched series intermixed with the characters in this book/series. Our main character is Luna, a human, who is thrown into the world of super naturals at the academy. Fortunately, Luna is a strong person with a snarky attitude. This is an action-packed page-turning adventure that will leave you wanting more. Looking forward to the next book to see where G.. Derosa is going to take us. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary and honest review.
Loving this spinoff/ second half of hitched series. I love G K’s book series and this on is out of the park. Hard to put down twists turns romance slightly. I will say i so was ready to scream a few times not in frightened way. But in no this can’t way .. Can’t wait for the next bok
A Cool & Creepy Academy Spin-Off From ‘Hitched’!!
(Read using Kindle Unlimited)
Luna Hallows is an orphan, as far as she knows. She was raised by Mrs Hallows, who was like a Grandmother to her, until her death when Luna was 13 years old. She’s been in a care home since, she’s now recently turned 18 yrs.
A year ago she was obsessed with the TV show ‘Hitched’ & it’s beautiful star, Kimmie-Jayne, but most especially her hot, sexy Bachelor’s that all turned out to be Supernatural’s!! It was because of the show that supernatural’s & human’s were now beginning to live amongst each other.
Coming home one afternoon she’s called into the lounge, she recognises the woman waiting there. She has incredible and life altering news for her. She’ll be moving to a Supernatural Academy & she also has some family that has only just found out about her!! The next day Luna moves to Darkhen Academy in the Winter Fae Lands!!
This was an enjoyable read with a lively & likeable main character. The 7 team mates all show some quirky, striking and powerful though not all necessarily, nice characteristics! Its fantastic getting to see some old friend’s/Bachelor’s in this book, although you you don’t need to read ‘Hitched’ to follow this series I feel it gives it more depth – especially for Ryder’s storyline!!

Luna is a human, well that’s what she thought until her 18th birthday and her world go flipped upside down. Her world as an orphan comes to a screeching halt when her half-sister shows up to tell her she is a half-blood, that’s half-supernatural and half-human, and she is being taken to an Academy in a fae realm to finish her schooling on all things supernatural. There is a sort of cross-over with the author’s Hitched series and some spoilers if you haven’t finished that series, do that first so you don’t ruin it for yourself. But this is a great start to a series with terrific world building and fun characters. I can’t wait to get the next book.
Darkblood Academy is a spin-off set in the world of Azar at the Darken Academy. Luna is a half-blood with a very powerful father and so she is selected to attend the school after the great reveal. We several characters from the Hitched series and a few have more than cameos in the book. Luna is just discovering her family connections after growing up in foster care and now must come to terms with new powers. We meet a lot of new faces too. I personally love her interactions with the seven and one in particular. I’m really tore between wanting heer with the bad-boy instructor and the elusive fae prince. I can’t wait to see where the author will take Luna and to see which guy she will ultimately choose. One thing is for sure, sparks will fly either way. I volunteered to read this book.
I am a hardcore fan after just this first book. Luna has been in the foster care system for a very long time. Feeling like an outsider is no stranger to her. After her 18th birthday she learns she is a half blood and will be attending a school for paranormals. She is thrown in with no idea of anything happening. She has shown no hint of any powers. The only thing that would have made this better for me was the opportunity to read the Hitched series first. I love the humanity and vulnerability he shows when it comes to Luna. I can’t wait for book 2.
I was not sure about the Academy books as they have sprung up all over. I love G.K. DeRosa’s books so I thought I would see what it was all about. Oh my word it is intriguing to say the least about it. So much goes on and so much mystery that it keeps you reading. I want the next book now! You so need to read this Academy book series. I am amazed on me liking it at all. But I love it.
I absolutely loved Darkblood Academy! I was so excited to read it when I learned it took place in the same world as Hitched, and it did not disappoint. I love Luna and one of my favorite bachelors from Hitched is in this story! I can’t wait for the next book.
OMG! When I read that this was in the same world as Hitched another series by this author I just could not wait to read it cause Hitched was awesome and you know what? So is This!!! Well written we go to Darkhen academy with Luna, and an academy full of witches, shifters, fae and vampires, where the supernatural have come out to the world. A fast paced story full of adventure, magic, romance, mystery, hot supernatural guys and tons of action! Great characters old and new, I cannot wait for the next book!
Lovers of the Hitched series will go insane for this book, set in the same universe.
Lovers of academy books, in general, or more specifically, Vampire Academy–You must stop whatever you’re doing and read this now!
A “human” thrust into a world of supernaturals, an unveiling of hidden powers, kick-ass young adults, and forbidden love….this book has it all!
The characters are entertaining, the world is well-described and imaginative, and the romance it hot, hot, hot!
I love G.K. Derosa’s books, and this one did not disappoint! Five stars!
This cover is sooooo gorgeous and I’ve been wanting to dive into some Academy fantasy! Plus, G.K. Derosa has a stellar reputation as an author. I’m positive I’m gonna love this!
A fantastic start to a series. This read starts out fantastic and only gets better. Luna is moved around Foster homes and then finds out that she has a half sister and for her safety from Danger she starts going to Darken Academy. She gets assigned classes with other supernaturals. The Author really brings this read alive. The Characters are brought out great as well as the scenery. From the first page to the last. Its an edge of the seat real page turner, that has twists and turns everywhere, If you love supernaturals and Academy reads this is definitely the read for you. A must read.

I love the way the author writes. This story is so full of action and intrigue and super hot attraction. I can’t wait to see what comes next because this was such a rollercoaster of a story. I loved that we get to revisit the Hitched world seeing some of our old friends and plenty of new ones.
Great read ! The characters pull you right into the story. Totally recommend this series.
I read the whole book series when Covid-19 first started and me and my family went into quarantine. My mom got these books for me on Kindle and I immediately fell in love. I love all things supernatural and this was amazing!!
5 stars for sure!
