New York Times bestselling author, Stephanie Rowe, launches her explosive new Heart of the Shifter series, in which passion and loyalty are brutally tested in a world where survival is never guaranteed. A decade ago, wolf shifter Cash Burns severed all ties to his past in order to protect his best friend, the childhood sweetheart he has never forgotten. When she’s targeted for assassination by … assassination by his pack on Christmas Eve, he’s the only one who can save her…but at a cost greater than he can afford.
Haunted by a tragic secret, Brynn McKenzie has been fighting for survival, alone in a world she doesn’t fit. She’s on the run for her life, forced to choose between redemption and survival. She has nowhere to turn, until the man who walked away from her so long ago appears in her hotel room with a knife and a promise she can’t afford to believe.
When passion ignites between Bryn and Cash, will it shatter what little hope they have for survival, or make them stronger than they ever thought they’d be?

Since this is the first book of Stephanie Rowe’s I’ve read, I came into it with no preconceived ideas of what to expect. This is a paranormal romance with a mystery. Lots of action, angst and dialogue. Cash grew up in foster care and Brynn, along with her family, tried to help him as much as they could. Then at fifteen he just disappeared with a word or trace. Now, Brynn has witnessed a wolf killing a woman so she’s been placed in protective custody until the trial. A representative of the pack is sent to kill her before she can testify. — Play the music, duh, duhh, duhhh — Yep, it’s Cash. The story isn’t as gripping or deep as I normally like, but it was entertaining and kept my attention. It made me curious about the next book and that’s the author’s job, right?
I loved this series.
Throughly enjoyed
Rather superficial and forced. I like some of her other work, but this missed the mark.
it was ok
So even though I gave it a 3 star I still recommend reading it.
I would have given a 4 star. But I did skim through some of the book because it was not holding my interest in parts.
The characters are good, and the plot line is interesting, but the emotions and style of writing didnt keep me hooked into the setting as I feel it could have.
I’m not sure 100% on what was off about it, but I still believe it was a good read.
Just over 100 pages (142 counting the inserts added at the end from other books by this author)
I will probably get the next book because I am interested in the other characters stories, but I will ne waiting for it to be on sale, right now it is $4 and if it as short as this one, it wouldn’t be worth it, as well as the fact that I dont know if I’ll enjoy it more, or end up feeling like I did with this book.
Enjoyed reading this book. Couldn’t put it down, so I read it in one day!
What I like about that two people who were friends. Meet again years later and still have love in their hearts. The story was great and I like to know is their going to be a next story.
Good book but was over to fast
I did not believe that a book could be really that bad with werewolves. I was proven wrong. Dull, in original, overall just not that good.
Awesome!!
Okay read but not good enough to keep on my kindle.
it was ok… not one of the best books ive read but it was no terrible…
It was ok. Very repetitive and somewhat predictable but a quick read.
Enjoyed the story.
I enjoy paranormal books
Could not put it down if you want to get to bed on time be careful
This book was really different it had some intense kind of “I’m wondering what’s going to happen next” situations and the results- well let’s just say I was unprepared. I didn’t think that’s what was gonna happen. It was unexpected and truly not predictable.. which is good! I hate predictable stories..
Meh…. that’s all I have to say… I only made it part of the way thru before I just quit
Very romantic shows how werewolves and humans can make it very nicely
