something light and fun
It was a fun read & entertaining, & I enjoyed the story line
Was slow reading first few chapters, but finished good.
3 stars are generous but I feel bad leaving anything lower than that. Characters not well developed and part one doesn’t resolve anything about who the main character really is though pretty big hints. Not interested in continuing the story but if you like a light read with a little bit of mystery and a little bit of romance and a little bit of magic you may love this.
Sorta cute? But I got annoyed over and over when “plot” required stupidity. The village bad woman comes into the shop, destroys a bunch of merchandise, and no one says anything about it? Instead they focus on trying to endure her hostility. This happens over and over.
I did skim the second book to see if the author settled into her characters and story enough to make it worth while, but again — crisis point — direct evidence available, MC knows exactly where it is, and the MC just stands there stupidly, saying nothing as she’s accused of crimes, until a lucky accident reveals the direct evidence in the “villain’s” purse.
It made no sense for the police to be so suspicious of her in the first place. And if the village is this hostile, how has the witch family stayed there for so long? And how on earth does a woman who can’t pay her bills buy enough chocolate to have massive displays of multitudinous varieties of chocolate available at all times?
And why hasn’t the health department shut her down? Place was cobwebby and dirty, until a quick afternoon’s makeover (really?) transformed it.
So yeah. Kinna cute but way too many ridiculous behaviors and situations.
This is not your average murder mystery. This book has some very strange things happening. You will be entertained and not want to put down the book until you finish. There were things in the book that would great if you could do them in real life. The book starts with a woman going to a strange place where a murder has occurred. She gets mixed up in all of it and ends up figuring out who the murderer is. Read it and you won’t be disappointed.
This book is a very satisfying read, if you want to be entertained. Nothing heavy, mildly supernatural.
Not really anything special but entertaining enough to hold my interest. Great for whiling away a snowy day.
I thought it was entertaing to pass the time.
So this family of witches manifests their magic through chocolate. (And what’s not to like about that!). Grandma owns a rundown chocolate shop that is dusty, disorganized, and unprofitable. Granddaughter is just learning how to cast spells, but they often go awry. Enter a young woman traveling through town, who finds all the rooms rented, and ends up staying in an upstairs room of the chocolate shop. And the view out her window is an ancient circle of stones. And there you have the ingredients for a delightful cozy mystery that is filled with funny incidents and charming dialog.
A fun read. Wish I were a witch.
It’s an okay mystery but not as good as this writer’s other series.
Not bad, but a set up for a series. Not much development
Cute. Not the expected ending. I am looking forward to the next books in the series
Good light read with a good plot and humor. The characters are realistic with a little witchcraft and mystery.
Not a great book, but pleasant and entertaining.
This was a cute cozy mystery. I would recommend it to others
Enjoyed the read. Would get the other books in the series.
It is a fairytale-like murder she wrote. The main character’s low esteem and shyness can get a bit tiresome. I read 3 in the series. Still waiting for some romance.
Cute book. Good reading on a rainy night
