Love the series..fun..great characters
Might be good but the witchtcraaft/chocolate shop theme might be getting overdone in this genre.
I enjoyed it, but not my favorite kind of book.
Book was hard to put down especially for a foodie and cat lover. The characters.we’re well written and the plot had several twists in it I highly recommend this book.
A young lady looking for answers to her past finds magic, a couple of murders and a witchy new future. Fast paced with fun characters.
loved this series! funny & entertaining!
Imagine finding out you’re a witch and your talent involves chocolate. I would be all for being that kind of witch. This looks to be an entertaining series of chocolate and mystery adventures.
Couldn’t get into it. Didn’t hold my interest.
Fun and fanciful. A great way to spend an afternoon.
In “Dark, Witch & Creamy”, we meet Caitlyn La Fey, a supposedly ordinary young woman who learns, upon the death of her famous singer mother Barbara La Fey, that she was adopted after she was found at the side of a road near Tillyhenge, a place having a circle similar to the famous Stonehenge Circle in England. Because she was adopted, she decides to go to Tillyhenge to see if she could find her real family. She meets a stoop shouldered old man who tells her he is her vampire uncle, Count Viktor Dracul. He can turn into a bat and watches over her throughout the book. When she gets to Tillyhenge with a headache from her long trip and her anxiety about finding her family, she goes into the Herbal Enchantment shop and meets Bertha and Evie, a mother and daughter who sell English remedies made of natural ingredients and seem to have some kind of supernatural powers. She tells them that she is looking for a place to stay and after telling her there are no rooms available, they direct her to the Chocolate Shoppe owned by the Widow Mags. She is intrigued by the aroma and taste of the chocolates, but somewhat frightened by the Widow Mags, who looks like a storybook witch. While staying in the upstairs room of the chocolate shop, Caitlyn learns a lot about her own abilities to make chocolate and also, helps the police inspector find a murderer. She also learns a lot about the Tillyhenge residents and develops a special relationship with Lord James Fitzroy, the Lord of Huntingdon Manor and landlord of most of Tillyhenge. The book was a very fast and enjoyable read. Other readers will enjoy their meeting with Caitlyn and the Tillyhenge residents. They may hope a real romance develops between Caitlyn and James Fitzroy and also may hope Caitlyn finds out who she really is.
Very glad I got it.
Enjoyed this book. Was light and easy to read.
At first, I thought this was going to be too light and fluffy and I almost put it down. As soon as the heroine reaches the little village, however, I was hooked. The world-building was great; I could imagine the streets, buildings and characters. I’ll be reading more of these. A nice balance between an easy read and an engaging set of characters.
What I found unique is: it’s a fantasy, and requires suspension of disbelief; but it does not insult one’s intelligence.
This is a great series.
Definitely a great step from the cookie cutter type “witch” story. This was definitely an interesting tale where the normal roles of gossipy neighbors, a troubling, aging Mother, and a shy guy turned killer all seem to work together.
A fun read . makes you want to have magical powers.
Disappointed. Had very good reviews so I purchased it. Didn’t discover killer until end but didn’t care. Beautiful protagonist with means goes to find her roots. Of course there’s the manditoy handsome man who is also wealthy. Some magical powers involved. Mostly boring to me only finished it because I paid for the audio.
Loved the chocolate aspect, such a nice ‘good witch’ twist on the whole gingerbread house of Hansel and Gretel! Funny and endearing characters, clever plot twists and a dash of romance and mysticiism. I like the writing style, fun and easy to read without being boring.
Good light read for vacation
I would give it more stars couldn’t put it down
