Dan Roy a professional murderer, black ops superstar in Afghanistan and Iraq decides to retire from his chosen profession, in this second book of the series. After signing all the nondisclosure papers and pocketing a seven figure retirement bonus he winds up at the Atlanta airport to start a new life totally disjoint from his previous bailiwick.
At the airport, he catches the eyes of a middle aged woman and senses desperation in her demeanor. Shortly after, he observes the woman being forced into a car by two thugs which primes Dan to push to the beginning of a taxi queue and makes the driver follow the very likely kidnappers.
After that the story is in full swing with Roy in top killer mode, rescuing the woman and promising her to find her husband who disappeared without a trace, or reason. Remind you the lady is no relative, friend, neighbor, or even an acquaintance, but Dan is Dan and he springs to the help of a damsel who is not even a damsel anymore, and one that is not even tied to the railroad tracks.
What follows after this nothing but an unbelievable start is twist and turns of events, traitors who might not be traitors, heroes who might be traitors, a lot of technical mumbo jumbo about deep ocean cabling, dastardly Ruskies out to destroy the US as in the good old days of the Cold War.
The musical score, however, is lots of bullets flying from assault rifles, submachine guns, and high-velocity ammo in hand guns. We learn that Roy always dodges the fatal bullet and he can shoot out the left eye of a mosquito with a Glock from 40 meters.
After WWIII avoided, thanks to Roy, and a family reunion of the missing person, we learn that all this was pre-meditated by Roy ex-handler. But for the reader, the pain of the nonsense finally ends.
The only good thing I can say about this book is that there isn’t too much repetition from book one. Nevertheless, read it at your own risk.
A GREAT SLEUTH BOOK ,NEVER THOUGHT ONCE ‘LOOK AT CRUMBS IN THE STORY ANGLE” BRILLIANT ON HOW THE MAIN CHARACTER DEDUCE “I AM NOT THE SUCKER LOOK” ONCE AGAIN AMERICA IS “LATE TO THE PARTY” …ONLY TO UNTHREAD AND FIND THE
CULPRIT BOOK ..
GREAT LOOK AT REALISTIC NEW FUTURE IN WARFARE AND HOW CRIPPLING IT CAN BE
FOR USA.
WELL DONE

Great read. Shows the development of Dan Roy from a one dimensional character to a two dimensional man of action. Can’t wait to read the next in the series.
Just can’t get into the sick mind stuff.
Russian mobster “Val” works with Hispanic gang who were fleeced by a sickly, older guy (Longworth) who took their heroine and $100,000. Dan Roy, ex-Delta force, retiring from off-the-books activity, is called upon to intercept a black ops group. The Russians are looking to disrupt electronic traffic between the US and Europe by cutting underwater cables. The nature and location of the cables are tied back to scientist/engineer Longworth, who has disappeared.
One of the ever present annoyances in this book are the frequent misspellings and missing words, as well as misplaced locations and operations. There is no Bethesda, Virginia (its in MD); the 780th MI Brigade is located at Ft. George G. Meade, in MD, while the 782nd MI Battalion is at Ft. Gordon, GA. Uses “trunks” for legs repeatedly. “Maleficent” (the Angelina Jolie film title) was used in place of “malevolent.”
Couldn’t put it down…
Really enjoyed it!!
I liked the beginning, but after that I found it not very interesting.
I ended up quitting about halfway through the book, and I then deleted it from my device (life is too short…).
I loved the flow of the action and the way in which the protagonist gets sucked into a situation not of his own making but which is ideally suited to his skill sets.
Full of action and suspense. I really enjoyed it!
Loved this book! It will be one of my all time favorites. Great writing and story, you will love it!
