I tore through this book and can’t wait for the second! It’s like Outlander meets Pirates of the Caribbean.
Wow! This is such a well-thought out time travel story. I love the characters! They are all multi-faceted, no cardboard cutouts as you find in some novels. I love the way Osmond describes her settings and the care with which she develops her characters. I think Finn is one of my favorites! He is so endearing right from the start! the only complaint I can think of is that it took me a little while to get into the book, but once I did, I was hooked! Plus, that ending! I cannot wait to read the next book!
Good book with intrigue and betrayal
Not your standard time travel romance! Love the idea of a female pirate…that’s all I’m going to say…
I loved this story because it has everything I love, time travel, pirates, magic and it’s wrapped up in a love story. Absolutely magical
The Devil’s Heart is an amazing fantasy romance. I was invested in the characters and the challenges they faced. The narrator did a wonderful job. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
It starts off slow but by the end you really are rooting for Dianna to have a HEA. Not to mention Henry. World building is a little lacking. I mean a woman in the 1600’s wearing pants and people aren’t batting an eye? Life on a ship, character development…not a lot of details that truly submerge you into this world. Then the love story aspect; there is attraction but until one night they stay up talking it is more a love at first sight thing. Something I personally don’t like. It’s like they talk but don’t communicate, Dianna and Henry. But there are twists and it is interesting and as I said I want to find out if they get a HEA. So I will keep reading.
Although this was a decent story, the whole plot premise was illogical. Not the time travel aspects, but Dianna’s stubborn assumption that a captain who aided a witch to capture a pirate and her ship in a bottle wouldn’t possibly believe in time travel, and that Dianna would be horrified that the Cobhams have a son, when her whole entire goal was to spare their lives so her family wouldn’t cease to exist in the future. Additionally, if they already have a son, then she didn’t need to worry about their lives, plus, how exactly did she think her future family was going to fare if the pirates were stuck in a bottle for all of eternity if they didn’t already have a child? Also, most of the drama felt manufactured, the book was much longer than it needed to be, and it ended in a very annoying and unexpected cliffhanger.
I received a free copy of The Devil’s Heart, but that did not affect my review.
Started off with good character development and a storyline but half way through it became rushed and sloppy. Story ended quickly with lots of gratuitus sex that did not fit with beginning of the story.
Was unhappy that the book ended the way it did. It said nothing about a cliffhanger in the description. Other wise I enjoyed reading it yet still had a couple of eye rolls.
A little romance, a little magic, a little risque, good story and I can’t wait to read the sequel.
This series had me captivated from the beginning. I had the whole series read within a week and was disappointed it ended. I was quite surprised with the ending and felt cheated, as the Heroine was left hanging in the wind, therefore so was I.
I loved the characters (well mostly) Lol and that all of my favorites lived through until the end and went on to live happy lives. You have to love that!
Silly
First book leaves you hanging
If you are into time travel romance; this is right up your alley.
