GABRIELLA
How did I end up here, slinging drinks at a dive bar in the middle of nowhere?
The choices that brought me to this were never even a glimmer of possibility only a few years ago.
How things can change so fast…
And now, my path puts me on a collision course with Orion Gates.
His bigger-than-life size and personality should be a warning.
The profession he’s chosen should be the ultimate final straw.
But instead, I find myself unable to resist his pull.
A decision that could lead to the end of all of us.
Rion and Gabriella.
Lust and lies.
Betrayal and ruin.
This tide may drown everyone…

This is the final book in the Inland Seas series and FINALLY we get the smart ass Rion’s story. Through all the books he has given all the guys shit for falling for their women…let us watch the hulk fall! Gwyn wastes no time with this book. The book starts in the middle of serious bloodshed…John Wick style!
We learn more of the story between Rion, Cutter, and Preacher…and it is heartbreaking. What is even worse, is the guys are at each other’s throats too. It just feels like it is all coming to a head. My heart is hurting, I just want everyone to be okay, to get an HEA. And then there is Gabriella, is she everything she seems?
This book gave me all the feels, I teared up, I got hot and bothered (several times), I got angry, and I was worried at times. But, more than anything, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and I just couldn’t put it down. I just had to know how it all was going to end. It has been so easy to fall in love with all these characters and I am so emotionally invested in their outcome. But by chapter 25 I am losing my shit and about to start PM’ing Ms. McNamee…
By chapter 27, I am a mess…I mean a serious mess and there is only one chapter left. How is everything going to work out and I am about to kill Cutter….dude better come through and quit being a total ass! There is only one chapter left, and I truly am at my wits end….
Finally, I get to the end. The epilogue….and although it is not how I imagined it ending, it is the right ending.
Orion Gates is a dark tide. One that sneaks in under the cover of night. One that you never see coming. One that steals everything you love and holds you hostage until it drowns you.
This story had steam, suspense, and a story that kept me turning pages. This series is one I do not want to say goodbye too. I have loved these pirates (Preacher is still my favorite), but the ending was fitting and Rion and Gabriella’s story was perfect. I definitely recommend this book and this series.
Finally, here’s Rion’s story! I’ve wanted to know more about him since book 1 of The Inland Series, and he didn’t disappoint. He’s sexy, dark, broody, angry, and a brutal beast of a man who knows how to take care of trouble. And Gabriella, dang, this woman harbored some big secrets. I have to admit, I didn’t know how they were going to get out of this conundrum. But with their chemistry so hot, and with danger nipping at their heels, I was completely enthralled. I loved how Rion’s family of ragtag friends helped shape the ending of this series. Romance, action, and drama at its best!
The very first book I read by this author was just about a month ago with her contribution to the Cocky Hero Club Universe and when I say I became an addict, I’m not downplaying lol I went on full on stalk-mode! And I found out this series was having a release and I was given an opportunity to binge all the book thus far! I mean talk about a junkie jackpot! Not only have I read all five books in this series in less than 3 weeks, but I’ve already started the Hawke Family series! I don’t even understand who I am right now LOL Granted, I did take a break from this series and started the first Hawke Family book but not because these books are not complete book crack. I just got curious and couldn’t help myself LOL
Okay, but back to the Inland Seas series, specifically Dark Tide 🙂 Talk about edge of your seat suspense! Have you ever found yourself reading along and a particular whooooooooa moment happens in a book and you realize after you finish reading that scene that you weren’t breathing? No? Just me? Okay, well, that happened on more than a few occasions with Dark Tide!! The book was intense and passionate at every turn. I’m not even sure how to describe it without giving away plot points but it was as if the story was charged with its own electricity LOL It was just so expectant. To be honest, all the books read that way, which brings me to a point I want to make about the series. To get the best experience, you need to start with the first book and work your self forward. It will be worth it. These guys are a band of brothers, but pirates (lol), you can’t just read one of their stories and get the whole picture about their lives.
I am so fortunate to have discovered this author. In the last 6 weeks, I have devoured 7 of her books and I do not see myself stopping until I have read every possible story I can find. She writes stories that grab you by the throat and leave you speechless with an all-consuming passion. SHE IS GLORIOUS.
Dark Tide is the fifth and final book in The Inland Seas series and a great ending to a fantastic series. In this book we get Rion and Gabriella’s action packed story. Rion and Gabriella have intense chemistry and their journey of love is a roller coaster ride of twists and turns. This is a well written book with well developed characters and the ending is perfect. I definitely recommend this series and this author to everyone.
Dark Tide brought us the final storyline in The Inland Seas series and it’s Rion’s story!
We get to see the reason for the darkness behind the man! Rion is so much more than the muscle of the group! He feels everything and I loved getting to know him more and I feel Gabrielle softened him and showed him that there is more in life than just settling for the hand dealt!
Gabrielle was a mystery for much of the book but as we get deeper into the story her life unfolds and we see that she has a deeper connection to Rion and one that could prove costly!
I have come to love this group of burly, broody pirates but this final story rounded it all our perfectly and i can’t picture a better ending! I don’t want to give a lot of the background away because this is a story/series you don’t want to miss out on and if you haven’t started it I suggest you should because this is an intense series full of action, adventure and steamy moments that will leave you needing a cold shower!
I have been wanting Rion’s story since he was introduced in the first book. There was something about him that intrigued me. I wanted to understand what kept him living in the darkness. This book finally gave me the answers I was seeking.
I was prepared for Rion to surpass Cutter as my favorite of this series. Sadly, he didn’t quite make it to that top-notch. This book had all the twists and turns that I have come to expect from this series. However, I felt a little letdown. I wanted something more and it didn’t quite take me there. Sure, there was a huge twist that I didn’t see coming in regards to the connection between Orion and Gabriella. Yet, all the pieces fit too perfectly together (hacking after months of trying with no hope and then it FINALLY happens) and still left some things in limbo without a definite answer (bombing). One of my favorite things about this series is the group dynamics and how close they were to each other, but in this one that was missing. They were constantly fighting, and their humous moments were nonexistent. All of this combined doesn’t mean that this wasn’t a good book, it still was. However, it didn’t live up to the rest and left me wanting more for a conclusion, especially, in regard to an ending. 6 months doesn’t seem far enough in the future.
WOW! I totally loved this final book in The Inland Seas series. Dark Tide absolutely brings everything together for the Great Lakes Pirates. They are a band of men fighting on the wrong side of the law but with hearts of gold that they try to keep hidden deep in the depths of their souls.
Dark Tide is not only Rion’s story, it is also the cumulation of all the pieces needed to send this series off into the wild blue yonder. All the men have now met the woman who was put on this earth to make them whole—to make them want to live and have a life outside of piracy. Rion has met his unlikely mate in Gabriella, and she not only turns his life upside down, but also her own.
Dark Tide has all the suspenseful moments, sexual chemistry, and awesome bickering that makes these books so entertaining. I loved getting a glimpse into all the boys, how they are doing now, and how they choose to live their lives when everything they have come to know is threatened, yet again.
I’m sorry to see this series come to an end but I am totally satiated with the way it did.
4.5 STARS BOOK FOR THIS 5 STARS SERIES
Adult, Modern Pirate, Romantic Suspense
First Person, Dual-POV
This is book #5 of the Inland Seas series and it shouldn’t be read as a standalone.
MY THOUGHTS
What a finale… what a series!!!!
The Inland Seas series is a ONE-OF-A-KIND, UNIQUE, masterpiece!!!
It is so different from everything that is out there. It has complex characters in an amazing setting with great plots.
I recommend to everybody that is ready to immerse themselves with some modern day pirates!!!
LOVED IT!!!!
33/35 STARS – 4.5 STARS (between 31.5 stars and 33 stars)

Action 4/5 Angst 4/5 Darkness 2/5 Humor 0/5 Romance 5/5 Suspense/Mystery 4/5
Would I recommend? Yes, for readers that enjoys sexy romance with some heavy topics done really well.
Would I re-read this book/series? Yes!
Would I read more from the author? Definitely!!!
WHAT HAS REALLY WORKED FOR ME
Addictiveness: 5/5 This entire series was fast-paced, surrounded by suspense, kept me on the edge of my seat, always waiting for the next book. So so so good! As addictive as as chocolate!!!
Character: hero 4.5/5, heroine 4.5/5, secondary characters 5/5, growth 5/5, real 5/5 Very multifaceted characters that had layers and good background stories.
Gabriella was the perfect heroine for Rion. She soften Rion, she was a great juxtaposition for him. She was a huge mystery most of the book, but her back story was good and made sense.
Rion was so dark and dangerous. His story hurt, but we finally got to see what was hidden behind the mask, the bottle. So intense, so lost, he really needed a Gabriella to shine upon him and soften him up.
Secondary characters I loved this group of friends. They were each on their own way unique and intense. They each offered so much to this series and they were all able to find loving partners that complemented them.
Villain/antagonists From the first book of the series we have had a few of them. Yes, the suspense was still really huge here, but we finally got to see it all unfold.
Even though they were all complex, they were all easy to love, connect and understand!
Cover: art 5/5, title 5/5, color-font 5/5, subtitle 0/5, background 5/5 buy 5/5 I’m obsessed with book covers. I love to find snippets of the stories within the art. I always try to be true to myself, I buy so many books because of the cover and I have skipped many because of not very appealing art. Covers are part of the experience for me and I do like to understand them. I have been obsessed with the art of this entire series. We can see this is an original art for these books. We can feel the pirate mood and it fits the plot, the characters perfectly. I loved the title, cover and colors. I would easily buy this book by its cover without reading the blurb!
Freshness: 5/5 There were so many amazing things about this series, but the fact that it was UNIQUE, it was the highest point for me. I haven’t read anything like that out there. It felt fresh and one-of-a-kind. As fresh as water during summer in the middle of the desert!!!
Plot: believable 5/5, conflict 4/5, dialogue 5/5, ending 5/5, enjoyment 5/5, opening 4/5, pace 4/5, setting 5/5, subplots 4/5, twists 5/5 Great opening with an excellent ending. Realistic plot, with amazing dialogues and good pace. Wonderful setting, interesting subplots with unexpected twists. Good level of enjoyment!
It felt dangerous, suspenseful, it kept me guessing, and wondering what next. It made me cry and want to hug them. It gave me all the feels.
Romance: 4.5/5 Hot! It hurt and it healed! Intense romance!!!
Writing Style: 5/5 Amazing! Complex characters, wonderful plot, great friendship, hot romance, intense conflicts and filled with twists. All tied in a clean, cohesive writing. Writing of a wordsmith!!!!
WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER
Because I try to be very analytical and I don’t really believe in perfection…
The end of this series was wonderful and I loved the series.
Saying that, I created such a huge expectation for Rion, but Cutter still remained as my favorite.
I loved the plot, but I still have a few questions. Yeah, me and all the little details that I usually get stuck on.
So, being fair to Rogue Wave for being the perfect book, I rated this one 4.5 and not 5 stars. It was wonderful, amazing, but not as perfect as Rogue Wave.
You MAY read this because you follow the author; you SHOULD read this because you follow the series; you MUST read this because of MODERN PIRATES!!!!!
I received this book for free fin exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Dark Tide is the fifth and final book in the Inland Seas series. Orion Gates has always shown his dark side. In this book, we find out more about his past. When he meets Gabriella at a bar, things start to change. Gabriella has a past of her own. This book sent me on an emotional rollercoaster never knowing how it was going to end. Believe me, this is a series that you don’t want to miss!!
Well crap!!! Dark Tide marks the end of the Inland Seas Series and I don’t want to say goodbye to this group of guys!
I think Rion and Gabriella’s story is my favorite of this series, but I do love all the stories. We finally get so see some of what made Rion who he is and what the demons that he deals with. Gabs was an interesting woman to read about. As reading I knew that there was something about her, but I just couldn’t put my finger on it. But hey none of the woman of these pirates are easy, they all come with troubles. Rion, got to say love the name Orion Gates, drowns his demons in booze and women until Gabs. She becomes a soothing balm for soul that he never anticipated. Unfortunately real life butts into their oasis and these two have problems to get through. I could not put my kindle down!!
I love the hot, explosive, burning the sheets up chemistry between these two! Again I’m sad to see it end.
Holy smokes batman! I devoured this series to get to this one, and McNamee did not disappoint with Rion’s story. I was blown out of the water with the intense concept behind it. It was raw, heartbreaking but also soul shattering. Everything that Rion had gone through to get to where he was and for him to finally feel something and it blows up in his face! There are a lot of insane moments in this book as the crew gets put through the ringer yet again. But their brotherhood isn’t one to be messed with, regardless of who comes at them. I found with this book, it was a great culmination of the prior books and having Rion as the last as he always seemed like the lone wolf was beyond fitting. The storyline keeps you fully engaged and I had a hard time putting it down once I started because I wanted to know more. I needed those answers. But that sizzling passion between Rion and Gabriella was so intense! Like catch the house on fire intense. Even when things get exposed, you can feel the draw that these two have towards each other.
Overall, this is a brilliant ending to an amazing series. Lots of ups and downs along the way but explosive till the end. I love the wit and banter as well as the concept that McNamee came up with. It is unique and one of a kind and Dark Tide will keep you on your toes the whole time!
love this amazing series
Rion and gaby grabbed my heart
intense emotional broken heartstopping love story
all the feels
I had been eagerly waiting for the final book in the series! It was beyond what I expected. What a rollercoaster ride of a story! Rion is searching for his place in the world and he is struggling with the choices he has made. Gabi becomes his safe place to land. The two have each other but will it be enough when it all goes down? I can’t say enough good things about this series! I am sad to see it end.
Thank you for the privilege of reading this book! Well done
Bleepity bleep bleep bleep. All I can say is- Wow. Just, wow. This was amazing! I did not see some of the stuff coming. It was crazy amazing. The sexy scenes were hot AF. The ending was awesome and perfectly fitting to end the series. I loved Rion and Gabrielle.
And I’ve got to say that I love the little Easter eggs that were thrown in, it just ties all the series and stand alone books by Gwyn all together into one amazing world. Read them in publishing order for a rollercoaster of emotion.
I LOVED THIS BOOK! I hate that the series is over, and I still want more. I loved Rion hulked out or not. His passion was in the way he cared for everybody. Of course he has to have issues, but seeing him in this book was just .
I was iffy on Gabriella almost thru 60% of the book. I loved how they were together, but I couldn’t see a way thru all of it. I seriously didn’t see that coming. It was a moment. I wanted to scream at her thru most of the book, and when you read it you will know why.
Our author likes to toy with us, and she’s so talented at it. She always finds the craziest situations for her characters to shine thru. I know she will call me a brown noser, but if you haven’t read this series or any of her books do! You will be hooked too! I kinda wish I could go back blindly and read it again one right after the other. It would be the greatest binge read.
This is the 5th book in this series and is Rion and Gabriella’s story. Rion is known as the muscleman of the group and after a particularly hard day and he goes to a bar which he frequents to unwind. Gabriella is working as this bar, and she can see that there is more to this damaged man than the persona he perceives, yet she makes him realize that there is more to life than accepting one which he is currently living. She is the light to his darkness. This is a well written flawless story which is action packed, and with secrets, lies, betrayal, twists, and love, which all lead to a fascinating, steamy, and riveting tale. I cannot wait to read more of this authors’ work which I highly recommend for all readers.
I devoured the entire series knowing I would be getting to this one eventually. What a great ending to a series and I find it fitting that Rion is the last to fall. Him and Gabriella are explosive that I felt my Kindle catch fire. But the story is so much more than just their passion. There are lies and secrets and I felt everything Rion and Gabriella went through. So sad to see this go but this is one series I would read again.
WOW! What a way to end this series. Rion and Gabriella’s story hits you where it counts, action packed, full or romance. These two have been on a roller coaster ride for most of this series and finally we get more of what’s made Rion the man he is today. Gabrielle is finally coming out of her shell and trusting him more, showing him more of the real her. So much passion, strength, loved the banter between them, and I loved this series and can’t wait to see what this author has up her sleeves next. I received a copy of this book.
What a great way to end this series. And let me tell you I didn’t see that coming a mile away!! We see a totally different side of Rion than we have in previous books. Gabriella had to grow on me but by the end of the book I loved her. I really enjoyed this whole series and found a new author to love in the process. The cover of this book is super hot which is what drew me to this book but the superb writing kept me coming back after each story.
