OMG!!! This book grab my attention from the first page and never lost it. So many twists in the storyline. Had me on the edge of my seat chewing my finger nails off wondering what was going to happen as I turn the pages. Amazing characters and storylines. Plot was exciting and well detailed. This was way better than five stars.

I had no problem with the content. I love dark. My issue was with the writing. It was very choppy, unorganized, and hard to follow.
I had to read some paragraphs a few times to figure out what I had just read and I didn’t care for any if the characters. It just seemed disjointed. And the end was too Disney. I like HEA’s, but this went from mega dark to princess pretty too quickly.

Cara’s father sold her to Gerald for a debt he couldn;t pay . Gerald is her master and what he say goes. Gerald has brought cara to his castle so she can dance for him and be his. There is a jealous worker and some questionable dealing but all in all this was a very great dark book . I highly recommend it.

I love twisted, high rush experience that I get to live through a wonderfully written story! The story of Cara & Gerald. Cara father lost a lot of money and used his daughter as payment. She works as a dancer for Gerald to repay her fathers debt but as she gets better at dancing, she also get tangled with Gerald. He has been watching her, secretly while she dances on stage and when shes in her room. He often visits her in her room. Can she finally break free. Will Gerald ever admit that he has feeling?

This dark read focuses on Cara and Gerald. He took her as debit payment from her father. The characters are well developed and engaging and intense. The storyline has plenty of twists and turns and lies that complicate the relationship from developing to what the possibilities could be. The chemistry is intense.

Can Cara make Gerard a better person
Vi writes a dark romance that had me quickly turning the pages as I was drawn into the story about Gerard who accepts Cara as payment for her father’s debt at his club. But there is more to this story than meets the eye and secrets and plot twists develop as each character is introduced. Gerard’s manager of the club takes a personal interest in introducing Cara to all the club has to offer. Gerard’s friend appears helping at times and creating havoc at others. You want for Cara and Gerard’s relationship to grow, but wonder what will happen when fate deals out some curve balls? You will love reading this book and will want to read the next book in the series, Darker due to release in June.
3.5 stars
It was a good book. I enjoyed the hot parts best. This book is also dark and twisted. What I would have appreciated and what I think the book lacked was how Jack, Gerald and Linda were deeply connected as well as why Gerald was the way he was. I would have like to know more specifically what Gerald’s father did to him.
Gerald is a dark man with a sad upbringing. He owns a club and he have his sights set on Cara and he will make sure he has her. When Cara’s father goes in debt to Gerald, he ends up selling her to him. The connection between them is instant. Gerald is broken and Cara is on the shy innocent side and she is being brought into his dark world. Will she be able to break his walls down?
This is a rather dark romance with mystery, surprises, and plenty of steam. Vi does an amazing job of writing this book and it will keep your attention and have anxiously waiting for book 2.

Apt title but so much more!…I’m not one to tell the story. The blurb & previous reviewers have outlined it more than adequately. It was a compelling, spell binding page turner that kept me reading until my eyes were burning but I didn’t want to put it down. Even though the heroine was at the hero’s mercy she wasn’t a total pushover. She had spunk & she blossomed into a sexy siren. The hero became bewitched but could he let go of some of the darkness & see some of the light? This was a raw, graphic, sexy as sin novel which I got seriously invested in. I’ve only fairly recently come to know some of this author’s work, she doesn’t hold punches nor does she disappoint. Highly recommended. I received an arc & this is my honest & voluntary review.
Gerald is a handsome rich guy who lives in a castle, yes a castle. Part of the castle is open to the public and that’s the first time he saw Cara. She was taking the public tour of the castle and he seen her on the video footage.
Cara’s dad was an alcoholic and ran up a tab in Gerald’s bar. Gerald’s payment was Cara who knew nothing about this. Being betrayed by her own father and sold to cover his debt.
Gerald is a troubled guy who portrays himself as the head of security so no one knows he owns the castle and the club inside it. Cara is to be one of his dancers and much more.
Will Cara be able to escape Gerald and the castle or will she fall for her capturer ? Will she dance for him and his club ? Will she have to do the unspeakable things ?

Y’all, I couldn’t put this book down!! Gerald was so dark and twisty, mysterious and evil.. he was the perfect anti-hero for this story. I loved that by the end of the book I was both swooning for him and slightly frightened by him. Cara felt real in my opinion, the way she responded throughout the story felt genuine and I felt like I connected with her character.
The plot itself is super intense at times and involves obsession, manipulation, jealously, love and so much more. There were times I wanted to through my iPad across the room out of frustration, other times I wanted to reach in and hug a character, or throttle them! I love the pace at which the author told the story, I never felt like things were dragging. I didn’t want it to end but I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen to our two main characters!
The trigger warning is there for a reason! This book is called dark and it lives up to its name, if you don’t like dark romance this book isn’t for you. If you love dark romance and want something that will suck you in from chapter one then please pull up a chair and dive in!
I highly recommend this story!!

Cara’s life is about to change forever, she has caught the eye of a man named Gerald. The chemistry they have together is a slow burn at first, but eventually ignites. Linda, the woman that runs Gerald’s exclusive club proves to be a complication. This book is a dark read, but those are my favorite type of books. So this book was thoroughly enjoyable to read.

I’m kind of on the fence with this book. Gerald is a bit of an enigma. For the majority of the book, he hides in the shadows of his club, pretends to be in charge of security and not the owner, and comes to Cara in the dark. Cara is a naive, innocent captive, supposedly saving her father by being sold to Gerald. Maybe it was just me, but it felt like there were gaps in the storyline that didn’t get filled in. Why did he hide his ownership of the club, what was his relationship to Linda, just questions. I see there is a book 2, maybe some answers. But the book is little twisty, little steamy, little cringey. A 3 1/2 dark-ish star read.

This is the first book in Vi Carter’s new series titled, Dark. This story is about Gerald and Cara. Gerald is a rich, gorgeous, alpha male but he’s a very dangerous man and the owner of the castle. He is a loyal man who believes to his core, if you hurt one of his people or you run up a debt, you either join him or else. Cara’s father ran up a large debt, which he either couldn’t or didn’t want to pay back. Gerald decided to take his daughter as payment and now he’s her master.
Gerald grandfather first owned the castle and now it belongs to him. Part of the castle is rented out to various parties given by rich people, a variety of weird parties that rich people give and no question ask, but the back of the castle belong to Gerald only, and now Cara is now thrown into this strange and dangerous world that Gerald created even though she is an innocent.

Vi Carter has written a 5-star book that has betrayal, being sold for a debt, and humiliation. Cara’s father has sold her to Gerald for a debt that he owed him. Cara knows nothing for this until the night before Linda comes and gets her the next morning. Cara is put in a room and at night she is told to dance for her new master. She is not a dancer so she doesn’t know how to dance the way he wants her to. Gerald wants to break Cara and put her in the backrooms until he has her. He starts to have feelings for her and she is upset with herself when she feels something for him. Things are not good for Cara. Linda is jealous of Cara when Gerald starts spending more time with her. Gerald tells Linda to put Cara on the center stage to dance but instead, she takes her the backrooms. When Gerald finds this out he gets mad at Linda and then he tells her that she had to leave. She asks if he was firing her and he told her that she better not be there when he got back. Cara is told that she could leave when she was finished in the backroom because she was there to pay a debt and since her father had died the debt had died with him, Cara asks Linda if Gerald know what she had done and she was told that he knew. This hurts her and she goes up to the room she had and she destroys it. She sees Candy another dancer and asks “if she could take her home?” Candy asks “what happened?” and Cara tells her that her father has died. After being dropped off, Cara goes in the house and looks around. She is more upset over what Gerald did to her than she is over her father’s death. She goes and runs a bath and once in she breaks down. Gerald goes to Cara’s home and she asks “him what he is doing there?” He tells her he just wanted to see her. She tells him now that he had then he needs to leave. Gerald tells her that he knew nothing about what Linda had done to her. They end up sleeping together and when they are through Gerald gets dressed and Cara tells him if he leaves to never come back. Gerald walks away.
Will Cara get over Gerald and move on with her life?
Will Gerald realizes that his feelings for Cara are not just going away?
This was a very interesting book and I would recommend it to anyone.

Very good story. Gerald is very dark and very dangerous. He’s use to people jumping when he says jump. When you owe him he will find a way to take what he wants. Your life or even your family. Cara’s dad falls into the owing a debt to Gerald. Cara’s dad ends up having to sell his daughter to Gerald. You find that Gerald had seen Cara and really wants her. He’s going to get her one way or the other. He’s going to break her but with the chemistry they have he finds that she’s might be able to redeem him. Will she get him to finally love her? *Possible Spoilers* Gerald and Cara’s story felt like it could have been so much more. Gerald had no redeeming qualities whatsoever and Cara felt like a doormat. The anal rapes were uncalled for and odd. But I was hoping it would come together, Cara would grow more confident in her power over Gerald, Gerald would do something to make me think he was more than a disgusting human being. When he did finally start trying, it felt like too little too late. I can deal with complicated monsters, but it was almost to the point of let’s see how much more worse we can make him. And the Linda twist? It felt false and contrived. But why no 1 or 2 star rating? Because no matter how “bad” it got, I wanted to find out how it ended, I wanted to see if they had a HEA. So if the writing can keep me hooked even if the content annoys me, that goes a long way for me.

I enjoyed reading this fascinating, somewhat dark billionaire romance. The plot is highly intriguing with some very intense moments. The characters are well-depicted as emotional broken individuals who portray believable emotion feelings and reactions to the current situation they find themselves in. There are good scenes descriptions & some world building.
It is about: a local man & father runs up a debt that he cannot pay with a dangerous & somewhat psychotic billionaire (Gerald) & sells his innocent daughter (Cara) to him.
There is: a vindictive woman (Linda), law enforcement, suspense, intrigue, drama, twists & turns, manipulations, captivity, threats, some forced non-consensual scenes, anguish, vulnerability, murder, devious plans, humiliation, devastating news, confrontations, jealousy, decisions, compromises & strangely enough there is attractions, consensual scenes, love & a satisfying conclusion.
What can I say? This was definitely a dark story but with the protagonist with a name like Gerald, you just had to fall in love with him. He was bad I have to admit but he did meet his match with Cara and I am so glad they were great characters. A good intriguing story which had me baffled at first because I didn’t know what Gerald had in mind for Cara. Did he want her for himself or did he want her for the Boom Boom rooms? Altogether a very enjoyable read. I have pre-ordered Darker, the next one in the series although I do now know whose story it will be but I am waiting with baited breath for it.
