Librarian Cara Jennings is probably going to die… and it’s all because of a dog. Until the night she follows a little dog trailing a leash into the park, thinking to rescue someone’s lost pet, and witnesses a murder, she’s led a quiet life, doing her best to come to terms with the death of her brother. But when the killer starts hunting her, Cara only feels safe with Gabe Calder, the detective … assigned to the case.
Gabe Calder lives to catch bad guys. He’s organized to the extreme, focused, and dedicated. His attraction to Cara Jenner is inconvenient. She’s the only witness to his murder case and strictly off-limits. Gabe knows he should step back from Cara as soon as he realizes he’s seeing her as more than a witness. That fact hits home the day he kisses the sexy librarian.
In spite of taking precautions to keep Cara safe, she turns up missing. It becomes a race against time to save her from the hands of a killer. Failure is not an option.

This a story of a Detective, a Librarian, and an ugly little dog. Cara is the only witness to a murder. Her life is in danger and Detective Gabe Calder is there to protect her.
Getting involved with a witness isn’t appropriate, but Gabe finds the librarian sexy. Cara is weary of getting with someone in law enforcement. Theses two just can’t seem to stop their mutual attraction.
I enjoyed Gabe & Cara book. From their initial meeting to the steamy stolen kisses. This book had murder, mystery & killer chemistry between the characters. I really enjoyed the banter between the detectives in the squad.
Cara witnessed a murder and now has become a target. Gabe is the Detective on the case. Lost of great chemistry with lots of action and some steam. Another great story featured in Dark Falls. Love the interaction and the story with great secondary characters and an ugly dog. Loved it!
Phenomenal!!!
I have read a couple books in the Dark Falls series so far and I’ve love them all. This particular story, involving a good hearted librarian witnessing a murder and a devoted detective leading the investigation, was captivating. Mystery and suspense along with a little romantic chemistry makes for a great book. The story line kept me guessing, when I thought I figured it out the author would throw in something sneaky to try and throw me off my suspect. LOL. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Easy, fun, excellent read by one of my favorite authors. Sandra never forgets the romance with the suspense and I love that! She does wounded souls not wanting to get involved really well, and she does fantastic alpha males who aren’t Neanderthals–Gabe can cook, has a female partner, and his dad is a chef who can decorate. I loved Gabe and Cara, and Cricket the dog totally stole the show. Highly recommend!
Dark Terror Dark Falls #5 Sandra Owens
Amazing, suspenseful romance. Don’t read when your alone, and definitely not before you go to sleep!
Nothing happens to quiet librarians. She may have the Wicked Witch for a boss, but Cara Jenner loved her job. But….leaving late one evening, she sees a dog running in circles in the street, with a leash dragging behind. She runs to rescue the dog and witnesses something that will change her life forever. Her quiet life as a librarian is done. She now has a stalker and a adorable ugly dog called Cricket.
Gabe Calder is a detective on the Dark Falls Police Deptartment and was called to the scene of the murder. He is known in the department as “cool, calm and collected” but for some reason his witness, Cara, is awakening some very unusual and protective feelings. Suddenly Cara spots a man at various places, even in her back yard and things heat up. Both in the case and between Cara and Gabe. The investigation is leading them to some important people, who are not happy with the situation.
The last few chapters were non stop action. Ms. Owen added the killers voice to the story and it was chilling. There are moments that make you laugh, and the romance is hot. Thank you to the publisher and the author for allowing me to to read and review this book.

Warning: You might stay up all night reading Dark Terror by Sandra Owens.
Five stars for this romantic suspense novel featuring characters that are charming, funny, and captivating.
Cara, an intelligent and witty librarian, witnesses a brutal murder. Gabe, a detective assigned to the case, is determined to keep Cara safe and keep their relationship professional. He feels he’s failing at both.
The gripping story keeps you guessing throughout. Do yourself a favor and read this one.

I loved this book. Didn’t want to put it down.
A perfect romantic suspense novel! The perfect blend of suspense, passion and humor laced with just enough heat for the HEA- this is yet again an 5 star read! The passion between Gabe and cara is unmistakable! At the same time, making them “real” characters with their flaws makes them memorable. I can’t wait to see the next book in the series!
Seriously! Ms. Owens couldn’t write a bad story if she tried. Her latest, Dark Terror, part of the Dark Falls series, a series written by different authors, is another hit! Another page turner, that you don’t want to put down, but you don’t want to see it end. In fact, literally my only complaint was that it’s not as long as her normal books, and the storyline and ALL the characters we’re so good that I wanted MORE! I loved Cara, and little Cricket. I could relate to her love of books and working at the library, and little Cricket. Her boss was a piece of work. The only character, not including the obvious villain, that I didn’t like. Gabe, Gabe, Gabe, how I loved and adored him. Totally my real life type, down to the dark hair, glasses, to being a Cop. Detective. His parents story was cool. Cop mother. Chef father. I wish we had more of them too. Another reason I wanted more. Definitely chemistry between Gabe and Cara. You could feel Gabe’s struggle with his attraction to his witness. His partner, Delaney Harrison ‘Harry!’ OMG! She had me laughing throughout. I loved her. I’m glad she’ll be getting her own HEA! Poor guy! And thrilled Ms. Owens will be writing her’s as well.
Although a part of a series, it can totally be read as a stand alone.
This is another gripping romantic suspense story in the Dark Falls series . A series written by very talented authors.
This story belongs to by- the- book Detective Gabe Calder, and librarian Cara Jenner.
When Cara sees a distressed dog as she exits the library, she follows him and ends up witnessing a murder. The detective sent to take the report is Gabe. The attraction is immediate though at first Gabe fights it, but when Cara’s life is in danger , the lines get blurred and feelings start to develop.
But he’s not the only one fighting the attraction. Cara has sworn to never get involved with anyone in law enforcement. She has valid reason for this .
The plot was engaging from the first page and the characters complex. Cricket , the dog was adorable and Harry, Gabe’s partner was a great secondary character . I hope she gets her own story at some point.
This definitely was another well written book by this talented author.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
What an amazing book! It’s an exciting,
romantic, sexy & suspenseful thiller.
I thoroughly loved reading this story!
Dark Terror, is an awesome addition
to the Dark Falls, CO series.
Cara’s quiet life, changed in an instant, after witnessing a brutal scene in the park.
She thought she was helping
a lost dog, but that wasn’t the case.
The dog was trying to show Cara, something.
Gabe, is a detective on the Dark Falls PD.
He is lead, on the case in the park.
When Cara & Gabe met, their connection is undeniable. Cara, the only witness
they have, notices the same man, showing up where she’s at. Gabe,
will do everything to protect Cara.
The emotions, the humor & their chemistry pulled me in, & kept me
hooked from the first pages to the last.
I can not wait for Harry’s story!
A PAGE-TURNER!!!

I purchased a copy of the Dark Terror in the Dark Falls Box Set 1-5 Dark Falls, CO Romantic Thrillers by Sara Owens et al and this review was given freely.
A story of finding love after loss combined with the suspense of a murder/stalker and the unfiltered close relationships of the Dark Falls police detectives. Contains the dark themes of murder, mental illness and suicide.
Leery of both love and her strong attraction to Detective Gabe Calder, after her police officer brother David is killed in the line of duty, murder witness and junior librarian Cara Jenner plus her newly acquired dog Cricket
must rely on Gabe’s protection.
