Michael Allan Scott’s first book in his Lance Underphal Mystery Series, Dark Side of Sunset Pointe, is frankly riveting — though not necessarily in a way readers might expect. In the book, Lance, a grungy freelance crime scene photographer, is highly sought for his work, not just because he’s good at his craft but because he has a disconcerting …
Gary Whiting of Whiting Realty & Development has been trying to reach his partner since he started crunching numbers for their joint venture in Sunset Pointe. Gary wants to contact Mike Rodriguez to try to discover what the asshole thinks he is doing. They could lose the whole damn project with the hard money loan of thirty million. He finally …
First off I would like to mention–as does the author–that this book is definitely not for anyone under 18 or those those over 18 who get disturbed by foul language and what possibly goes on in the shadier parts of town. It gets kind of graphic!!
I will also say that I read this book in one sitting. It is definitely fast reading, one you will …

Warning: not for those easily offended. Language, Violence.
It will keep you guessing. The ending is unpredictable.

Close your eyes and you can easily visualize exactly what is going on. Also not a main character I would normally enjoy sticking …
Scott’s staccato-style delivery moves the story along at a quick pace. The diverse cast of characters grabbed my interest from the first page and held it throughout the book. It had all of what I look for in a good murder mystery with a few unexpected twists and turns, as well. I’d recommend this book and I look forward to reading more by Michael …
Michael Allan Scott has written a hard hitting thriller. He draws his characters fully, particularly Lance and Frank. He adds interest to the story by using both first and third person narrative to tell it. The ending is satisfying.
