You know a book is epic when as soon as you finish it you want to pick it back up and read it all over again.
My expectations for this book were blown away and left me wanting more like a vampire needs blood to survive.
Ava is a 17 Year old spirit witch, which means she’s able to feel when something bad is going to happen. Ava can sense something bad is coming for her coven at darkhaven, but no one will take her seriously not even our own mother. Since no one will protect her coven She will herself. With Ava going at it alone things don’t go as planned and the blood war between witches and vampires is now at an all time high and she’s kicked out of the only place She has only known and is taken in by The Very thing she hates. This book goes straight to the point and in great detail. Everything was clear to see and easy to picture including the handsome, cinnamon smelling, dimpled face jasik who saves her life.
Danielle has put just enough suspense, lust and great yet suttle humour in it.
“The Earth can only handle so much magic at once” and Danielle has put it all into this book. It was delicious, mouth-watering and had my senses on high Alert the whole time.
This is magical five-star read, and I cannot wait for the second book DARK MAGIC to come out on the 3.10.2020.
Darkness, witches and vampires… what more can you ask for?? When they collide it makes an awesome story… but did they have to collide?? When reading this book I kept thinking oh it don’t have to be like this or that…then other places I’m like oh heck yeah! This book was an amazing start to a series that is going to grab ahold of you and take you along for a joy ride. I can’t wait! Great book.
This was my first book by Danielle. I’m excited to see how Ava’s story will continue. Vampires & witches – how can you not love that idea? This is not what the kind of book I have been reading lately, but I really enjoyed it. It was fast paced & before I knew it the book was over. I will definitely be finishing the series.
I didn’t want to put it down!! I honestly didn’t see that coming. Sparks between Ava and Jasik. A 5 star book all the way. Waiting on the next book…. Can’t wait
I love love loved this paranormal fantasy. It was a quick but fulfilling read for me. I’m definitely excited to see where the story goes. Well written with an exciting plot. Definitely a must read!!!
I loved that this book had some spanglish moments. I related to Ava because her main language is English but her mother first language is Spanish. The moments she had with her family was very realistic in a Spanish household.
Ava has been raised as a witch. She was being groomed to take her grandmother’s place when she passed. Unfortunately Ava can be very hardheaded and stubborn. She thinks because she fought and killed a few vampires that she can’t be touched. Boy did she find out the hard way how wrong she was.
I believe Jasik has had feelings for her before he saved her. I’m waiting to find out do they get together and what happens next. This was a quick read that leaves you wanting to know more. If you loved the twilight series you will love this one as well.
Thankyou to Waterhousepress, Danielle Rose and Luvbooks for letting me read this book in an exchange for my honest review.
I . don’t . even . have . words!
I loved this Book, it consumed me! The story was tragic, exhilarating, hopeful, edgy… My emotions were in free fall. The story was intricately woven, pulling you in, making you a witness in the story, a witness to the magic, the angst, the inner turmoil… The detail was so vibrate, I can still see it all in my mind, and I can’t wait to go back!

Dark Secret
Wow! Danielle Rose, what an amazing start to a new series! Ava is so fierce and goes through so much! A great read, kept me fully engaged and I absolutely loved it!
I have to say Ava’s characteristics irritated me repeatedly. She thinks she can handle anything and is willing to plow her way through anyone who gets in her way. Even after becoming what she has hunted, she still doesn’t seem to get it. Other than that, this is a quick flowing and easy to follow intro to this series.
There was not enough storyline to make me care enough for the characters to follow the series.
Highly entertaining, exciting and action packed adventure filled with dangerous and exciting charters, witty dialog, heart racing twists and exciting turns. Really enjoyed this magical journey!
When darkness falls across the small town of Darkhaven one teen witch is out saving her town from vampires! In this original take on just what both witches and vampires truly are is captivatingly told by Danielle Rose in her book “Dark Secrets”.
Her coven means everything thing to a teen witch who risks her life each night protecting it from a witches natural enemies; Vampires. Is what she knows, has known, for her entire life truly what it seems? What evil is out in the night, is it those she has hated all her life or those she has loved all her life?
A mystery wrapped in magic is laid out out for the reader to deliciously delve into in the pages of this story. So many times a chilling scene reveals more mystery! Characters of unique creations present a rich story to be enjoyed!
Sink your teeth into this witchy tale and your mystic loving soul will thank you!
Awesome book! Joy to read! Hooked and anxious for next book
4.75 stars
This is the first book in the Darkhaven Saga Series and it is a witty, fast paced read that will captivate readers from the onset. It is a power packed storyline that calls to those who have an affinity toward the paranormal and vampires alike. Combining what feels like the best of everything from movies, television and other books, Ms. Rose paints a vivid picture of this new world that needs to be entered into willingly. Ava is a young, aspiring witch who only wants what is best for her coven and that is to rid it of a predator problem. She is not one who backs down when she feels she is right, which leads her to go against her mother’s wishes to go out at night patrolling. Unfortunately, things do not go as planned and her destiny is forever changed….Jasik is the vampire who makes a decision that will either put him at odds with those of his kind or could be their salvation. However, as the book ends in a cliffhanger, readers will just have to wait to see where this story goes and I for one am on the edge of my seat! I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book.
This is the first book of the Darkhaven series and I really enjoyed it! You can tell that the author did her research and dove head first into the paranormal realm. I really liked the descriptive explanation of the witches rituals (before, during & after) and the character development. I did have a hard time with the Spanish conversations between Ava and her mother, as I don’t speak Spanish. It was an enjoyable quick read that left several questions unanswered. I love reading paranormal books and I can’t to read the next book and see where it goes.
I received ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Dark Secret (Darkhaven Saga Book One) was a great read by Danielle Rose. Ava is a seventeen-year-old spirit witch who has appointed herself as the guardian of the people of Darkhaven. She is on watch for bloodthirsty vampires. She is still new at her powers and needs to gain a better control of them. One fateful night, she may have lost her control forever. Her coven exiles her and finds herself seking refuge with the vampires she’s hunted. The longer she spends with them, the more she finds out about how the witches have lied to her. I really enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read more in this series.
I still love reading YA, especially when its paranormal and involves witches and/or vampires. I was so excited to start this series and it captivated me right from the start. You have a fearless, intuitive witch with strong powers who will do anything to protect her coven against their sworn enemies. There’s betrayal, questioning of loyalty, trying to find oneself, and of course, the love interest. Danielle’s words helped me see a beautiful and interesting world and I am so ready to go along on Ava’s journey as she figures out where she belongs and hones her powers.
This book just blows me away. Danielle Rose is an amazing author. I have read another book by her and enjoyed it but this one is so much better.
I love Ava and her desire to protect the people she loves even though it could cause her harm. She will never give up and I cheer she finds her way. I really hope she can find her way back to mother nature as well. That would be a very unique development.
Jasik is deep and dark but wants to share something with others. He expresses that though his painting evn though he still tries to hid it. He is a formidable ally and his family is well protected with him around.
I can not wait to see where this adventure will go. Danielle Rose has got a great series on her hands
Dark Secret introduces you to a series you can’t get enough of! Dive into a magical world of witches and vampires, where you don’t know what to believe or who to trust. I had the strongest urge to binge-watch True Blood after finishing this book. I loved the different aspects and characters that came into play. Such a creative story, that my mind wouldn’t shut off with possibilities, it was the quickest I’ve ever devoured a book in one sitting. Literally counting the days until the next one releases!
I really enjoyed this book. I usually don’t read paranormal books but I quickly became a fan.
Ava risking her life to save the people and town she loves only to be forsaken by her family, breaks my heart.
I’m interested to see how Ava and Jasik’s relationship grow and if she’ll have to continue to watch her family from the shadows of the woods.
