From USA Today bestselling authors Nicole Leiren and Elizabeth Ashby comes a hauntingly harrowing new mystery… As the new part owner of Smugglers’ Tavern, Lilly Waters has found a little slice of happiness. With a steady boyfriend, a renewed relationship with her parents, and a strong circle of friends, she is excited about what the future might hold for her in the never boring town of Danger … Danger Cove. The auction of Shady Pines, a creepy reportedly haunted old motel on the outskirts of town, causes an influx of real estate investors from near and far-some nice, some nasty, and all with plans for the property. But instead of answers, they discover the lifeless body of one of the most vocal (and irritating) investors. The book kept me entertained from beginning to end and I was kept guessing as to who the killer was. A great book!

Another fun and wild trip to Danger Cove. This series is never boring, I love that it is written by multiple authors it keeps things fresh. No matter who is doing the writing you are guaranteed a well written story with great characters and many twists and turns. I look forward to each book.
I love these Danger Cove mysteries. In Dark Rum Revenge the old Shady Pines motel is set for auction. Way too many people are interested in acquiring this decrepit property. With all the well drawn, small town characters you have come to love, this latest mystery is extremely well written. With many suspects, several motives, and lots of suspense, this book captured my attention on page one and kept me reading far too late into the next morning. I love the book!
Danger Cove is a fun small town setting and perfect for a bit of sleuthing. Lilly Waters is part owner of Smugglers’ Tavern. She tends bar and is also prone to getting into a bit of trouble. The sale of an old property nearby brings an interesting mix of investors and real estate buyers into the little coastal town and things go horribly wrong when one of them is found dead. After all these investors and developers have argued and established themselves as possible suspects, Lilly and her gang are left wondering who to trust. Along the way there is new security staff, since Lilly’s boyfriend is away teaching during the week, and the police officers that keep telling Lilly to stay out of it. Tanner comes back into town, Bree and Lilly are both questioned, and bar staff Mandi and Freddie get involved too. This is a very entertaining cozy mystery. My first read in Danger Cove and I loved it! It kept me guessing until the very end. A well written mystery and great entertainment!
An excellent read! I was frightened for Lilly a couple of times even though I know it will surely all work out. Great mystery and well-written storyline. Love this series!
An old spooky motel is up for auction, bringing many potential investors to town, and to Smuggler’s Tavern where Lilly is working. The competitive nature of the upcoming auction brings out the worst in people, and after discovering one of the investors dead, Lilly’s inquisitive nature takes over as she tries to solve this case.
This book was an easy read, with some suspense and fun characters. Love Bree and Lilly’s friendship and the whole small town dynamic.
Welcome back to Danger Cover where the drinks are distinct, the people are quirky and murder happens. Lily, part owner of the Smuggler’s Tavern, is the creator of all the new specialty cocktails. She also tends to stick her nose into things when a murder happens. With all the twists and turns, I didn’t see who it was. Very good read!
Dark Rum Revenge earns 5/5 Dark & Stormy Cocktails…Entertaining Fun!
Cheers! Nicole Leiren has “stirred” up an entertaining cozy concoction. Bree, friend and manager of the local B&B, has learned the abandoned motel just outside of town is set to be auctioned off. Whether developers raze the property and rebuild or arrange for a major renovation, their plans could threaten her B&B’s future. Jack Condor, not one of Danger Cove’s beloved citizens, is easy to dislike along with his plans should he get the property, but Camilla Cartwright, whose purpose in life is to ruin his, just may be more disliked than him. Bree decides to check out the creepy property and cons Lilly into joining her with the old “you owe me” line, but the suppose-to-be-locked door isn’t making it perfect for squatters and murder. “Camilla Cartwright is dead.” The suspects are many with varied motives that make Lilly’s investigation a challenge, but life-threatening, too?
The murder victim, of course, was karma’s first choice and mine, and the mystery of her murder was clever with all the compelling twists and turns. Her writing style is filled with descriptive language and the expressive dialogue to further illustrate the drama’s tone. I was greatly entertained with the characters, especially Lilly and her strength. She doesn’t officially collaborate with the police because of her past experiences with Detective “Pizza Guy,” but there is an understanding of its importance and contacting the more congenial Officer Faria when clues are uncovered or back-up is needed is more realistic than going it alone. Well, she does that, too. Along with the drama of an investigation, conflicts with police, and some personal peril, she is managing a tavern, hiring a new head of security, navigating a long-distance romance, dealing with new “fur” friend Watson, and continuing with a variety of relationships with lots of friends. It adds to the realism I enjoy. No bonuses, sad to say, not even an official recipe for the Dark and Stormy she created for the tavern. I guess I’ll need to experiment with amounts of ginger beer and dark rum and lime or bitters. Ok, that’ll be fun!
I really enjoy the Danger Cove mysteries, and this one is no exception. You might do well reading the books before this (to help with some back story on the characters), but you don’t have to, to completely enjoy this book. The characters are great, well developed and it’s easy to put together the relationships and understand the close-knit group of old friends and you get to meet some new ones. Take a tavern, stick it in a small town, add some characters that you love to love and love to hate, throw in a dead body, a little creepiness and a touch of romance, and you have the cozy mystery you’ve been waiting for. Never a spoiler in my reviews, Lilly is the part-owner of the bar/tavern and a trouble magnet with a capital T. This story keeps you guessing till the end with plenty of twists, and not to worry, it is completely entertaining, with laugh out loud moments that will keep you up well past your bedtime, because you just want to see how things pan out! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher, and am providing you with my unsolicited, unbiased review. Thoroughly enjoyable, you won’t be sorry.
