I have a secret … I don’t care if you like me or not. Insatiable lust for power and control runs thick in my veins. My father served as President of the United States of America—and his father before him. Montgomerys are born to lead and rule, to fear nothing and cower to no one, to make allegiances, not friends. But I digress. With a senate campaign about to launch and presidential aspirations … launch and presidential aspirations at fever-pitch intensity, imagine my dismay when my strategist tells me I need to “settle down” with a “nice girl” in order to appeal to my constituents. Enter Rowan Aldridge, a head-turning stunner with a charm school walk, Jackie O. refinement, and a well-connected family.
She’s perfect.
So I’ll do what I have to do, make her believe what I need her to believe, and as soon as the campaign’s over and I’ve secured my senatorial seat, I’ll release my pretty little butterfly back into the wild.
But this isn’t about all of that.
This is what happens when a villain falls in love.
AUTHOR’S NOTE: Dark Promises is a full-length standalone romance and a spin-off of Dark Paradise. You do NOT need to read Dark Paradise first. However, for a limited time, I’ve included Dark Paradise + Bachelor, books in which the hero of this book has showcased his delicious villainy. 🙂 All books are full-length standalones. Rest assured that if Dark Promises ends around 30%, it is still a full-length novel.

Dark Promises tells a story about an aspiring senatorial candidate, Kier Montgomery, that needs to refine his man-whore personality to a caring gentleman worthy of his constituents votes. He needs someone like Rowan Aldridge, whose sweet personality and family influences will certainly give him the advantage to further his political career.
But it’s not easy to woo a woman who just got her heartbroken. Kier worked double time to get to Rowan’s good side and proved to her that he’s a changed man. But still, Rowan is not impressed. Just when Kier, is about to give up something change and Rowan suddenly calling him and initiating to somewhat want to start a relationship.
What’s the real reason behind Rowan change of heart? Will Kier be able to stay a “good man” for the sake of politics?
Winter Renshaw just wrote another engaging story the will keep you entertained until you flip the last page.A real page-turner! Though this is a book 2 of the Dark series it can read as standalone. If you haven’t read a book written by this author this one can be a good start. Highly recommended!
They are very similar. They are using each other. They are lying to each other and to themselves, but they still do not know it.
She is the wife that every politician must have. Or at least it seems to be. A good family, well educated, well-formed, selfless. An example. This is Rowan Aldridge that all people know.
He is the youngest son of the President of the United States of America. But he’s far from being a saint. And to build a good public image for his Senate campaign, Keir Montgomery needs to show that he has changed. He needs the ideal companion.
The story ends by revealing that both of them have much more layers than the world seems to know. The girl, despite having her confidence shaken at the beginning of the book, is strong and determined. A bit too stubborn, too. And not at all conventional, as his parents try to sell to the world.
He who appears to be a well of coldness, an unscrupulous person, and a power-hungry and seemingly heartless bastard, reveals himself to be devoted and caring. Thirsty for affection … and for other things too, of course.
She just wants some fun. He wants a serious relationship at least in the field of Imagination. The fact that her ex-boyfriend rivals him for the Senate seat only makes the story even more interesting.
The grand insight of the narrative lies in the lies and the false promises that bring this couple together and hold them together. They will also be the cause of their estrangement. But because of them, they will know parts of themselves that seem to be nonexistent and forgotten.
A light, balanced and well written plot. With detail and also space for inference in the right measure and in the right places. A well written and very cute ending. A great read for anyone who loves a contemporary novel.
OMG it’s so good. Read Dark Paradise first! You don’t have to but it makes this one more enjoyable. Looooved these books.
Once again, Winter Renshaw gives us a beautifully written tale and characters that drive us crazy even as we can’t help but root for them. Dark Promises is a different take on the fake relationship and the back and forth between Keir and Rowan kept the story moving along. There were times during this one that I honestly didn’t care for either character and other times when I liked one more than the other, but they were certainly scorching hot together. I did find myself chuckling more than once with how Rowan kept bad boy, Keir, on his toes. Overall, the story did hold my interest and it was refreshing to get this different look at a fake relationship romance.
