ATF Special Agent Eric Miller and his explosives detecting K-9, Tiger, pull over a truck, the contents of which are explosive. Literally. They’d never so much as kissed, but Tess McTavish never forgot the handsome, dangerous agent who vanished in a shroud of mystery. Now the last … mystery. Now the last thing she needs is an ATF agent with his own agenda. Doesn’t matter that Tess and her brother are innocent. If Eric learns the truth of their past, they’ll never be free.
Eric’s drive for revenge against the man who targeted him and his colleagues in a deadly explosion still burns hot inside him. Another bomb is about to be detonated and he’s sure there’s a connection between that man…and Tess’s family. But Eric and Tiger will do everything they can to protect the woman he’s falling for from what’s coming…

When ATF Special Agent Eric Miller and his explosives detecting K-9, pull over a truck full of explosive content, he shocked to discover that the driver is the kid brother of the woman he left behind and who still haunts his days and his nights. Tess McTavish never forget the handsome, dangerous agent who vanished in a shroud of mystery but the last thing she needs is an ATF agent with his own agenda, because even though Tess and her brother are innocent, if Eric learns the truth of their past, they will never be free.
This ‘Federal K-9 story is an engaging and extremely suspenseful read that keeps readers biting their nails and gasping in surprise. The characters are strong, bold and easily draw readers into their story and the chemistry between the hero and the heroine oozes lots of electrical energy from the pages. The relationship however hanging on to edge of a cliff with every possibility of a crash landing as secrets and drive for revenge threaten to keep Eric and Tess apart.
The fast paced plot not only has a suspenseful romance but the entire story is full of thrilling suspense, adrenaline pumping excitement and surprising twist that keeps readers glued to the pages as the connection between Tess and the man Eric holds responsible for a deadly explosion becomes apparent. And readers have no choice but to acknowledge the heroic efforts of the very special Tiger as even he tries his best to help Eric in falling in love with and protecting Tess and her brother in this dangerously exciting romance.
It’s impossible not to love anything by Tee O’Fallon. I first fell in love with her writing style with Blood Money. She has this way of blending suspense and intrigue together that bleeds into the romance rather than depending on it. Every element has a purpose and you can’t help but be hooked by the story. In Dark ‘n’ Deadly, each action had a realistic reaction and the secrets that were destined to be revealed held so much weight, giving this story its heft and its depth, allowing the characters to grow and evolve, letting what developed seem almost natural.
If you like your romance to be high in suspense and love, you’ll love the story of Eric and Tess and the mess she created and the mess he cleaned up. It was filled with moments of sweetness, fear, love, and it made for some amazing entertainment.
I love when I discover a new to me author and can’t wait to check their back list…because you know my TBR pile is not high enough yet to touch the moon.
Tiger was the star of this book, this furry, four legged, smart dog. Eric and his K-9 are partners, couldn’t think of a better team. Tess and her brother are in danger and Eric turns his life upside down to help them. I think he needed some colour in his life and home. They all have history and little do they know it’s connected. Great action in this tale, plenty of heart stopping moments and some added sizzle. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend this book.
If I could give this book a 10 star rating I would.
We are back with the K-9 group of officers who with their brave and wonderful dogs, fight for justice .
This time the story belongs to ATF Special Agent Eric Miller, his dog Tiger and Tess McTavish. A woman he’s been avoiding because of his attraction to her. She has secrets and he has an agenda to catch the person responsible for the deaths of his friends.
Fate brings them back together when Tess’s brother , a boy she hasn’t seen in 10 years, reaches out to her. when he’s in trouble.
The story is filled with action , bad guys, half-truths, and an attraction that can’t be denied.
It’s also a story about how our childhood does in fact molds us as adults. Scars remain, as do the fears from long ago.
At times heart wrenching as your heart feels crushed and beating fast, not only because of the action, but also because these two have had to overcome so very much not only individually but also together.
Can they overcome the danger that surrounds them as well as the mistrust and fears of being hurt emotionally?
Once again, the author excels in her storytelling. Can’t wait to see what else the author has in store for us. Hopefully it will beDayne’s story.
I was entrusted this copy by Netgalley and Entangled Publishing. The opinions expressed are soley my own.
**I received a copy of Dark ‘N’ Deadly from Entangled Publishing and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. My opinions expressed below are not solicited in any way.**
Dark ‘N’ Deadly by Tee O’Fallon is third book in her Federal K-9 series and I hope that you’ll love it as much as I did because it was fantastic. I’ve enjoyed each addition which gets better with each release. This is Tess and Eric and Tiger’s story because his part in getting both of his humans together is at times hilarious.
Tess McTavish loves bold colors, yoga, and her rose crystals but she was raised in the Sovereign Citizen Compound in Alabama. A group that pay no taxes and every alphabet govt agency knows they are planning an attack but when and where is a guarded secret until Tess’s receives a call from her brother Jesse. He’s managed to get pulled over by Eric because his cargo was suspicious especially when Tiger scents explosive material. It will take everyone from ATF, FBI, DHS and the JTTF to find the location and try to not fall in love with Tess. Plus Eric who knows Tess from previous books must also keep her safe when she takes her brother’s place in the exchange when he falls ill. However, Eric has another reason to catch Harley Gant and his minions they’re the ones who killed his friends with a bomb. But when Tess has to reveal a big secret in order to save her brother and half the city can Eric ever forgive her?
This is non stop action hold on to the oh-shit handle ride of your life and I can’t wait for Dayne, Remy and Katrina’s story next.
Hot Heroes, feisty heroines and doggies – what else do you need!!!!
Tess fled the backwoods of Alabama, running from her odious step-fathers plans for her. Sadly she also had to leave behind her baby brother. She’s tried to keep in touch but Jesse finally reaches out to her. But now he is in trouble and Tess has coe face to face with the star of many of her fantasies, Eric Miller! But he is ATF, she has far too many secrets which she can’t share with him.
Eric has had a major vendetta against a Soverign Citizen group for the last decade after it was involved in the massacre of his team. By using Tess’ brother, he can get an idea on their nefarious plans and hopefully get the naive kid out of deep trouble. He even offers Tess and Jesse somewhere to stay. WTH? He keeps things distant and unemotional usually. Tess keeps splashing colour all over his orderly life. But will he still feel the burn of attraction to the spitfire once he learns all her secrets?
I have read all the books in the series so far, but you can delve in and out of the series as although it centres on a group of K9 handler friends, they are easily read as stand-alones. I loved getting a little catch up with Matt, Kade and the others (especially the dogs!). Tiger is a great character and I loved how he could level disdain at eric with doggie snorts LOL. Even Tiger got a HEA!.
Great read and cannot wait to see what happens next between a silver spooned female and a certain K9 handler!!
Fab romantic suspense and adorable canines…
This was another great entry in the Federal K-9 series! Each story has been full of strong characters with heart, including the four-legged variety. A cadre of friends with K-9’s at the core, each of them finding love even as danger lurks…
Eric lost colleagues, friends, to a bomber. A loss he has never been able to let go. He needed the perpetrator brought to justice but he is still the one that got away. Through mutual friends, Tess was not a stranger, but when she crossed his path again, things were different. She needed help but his need for revenge going to mess with feelings he refused to give into…
Tess didn’t keep the darkness of her past at the forefront. Instead, she brought light to Eric’s decidedly black/grey world. Haunted by long-held fears and regret, she was determined to move forward with her small family intact. Eric blew hot and cold but at the end of the day, she knew he could be her one…
I loved this story that was equally balanced in romance and suspense. The storyline was intriguing, with lots of people to cheer and jeer for, with secrets threatening to blow everything up (no pun intended). If you haven’t read this series yet, I highly recommend you do!

Full of action and intrigue from page one! DARK ‘N’ DEADLY is the third book in Tee O’Fallon’s Federal K-9 series and revolves around an ATF Special Agent and a woman out to protect her little brother in a quasi reunion/enemies to lovers story.
Eric was quick to command attention from the very beginning when he listens to his gut instinct and pulls over a suspicious truck. He’s a well developed character with a past that haunts him and that has led him to this place looking for revenge and justice.
Tess is a strong, independent woman who will do anything to get her little brother out of trouble. She failed him in the past, and she won’t be able to live with herself if she does it again. Secrets just might be her downfall with Eric … but will it be worth it if she saves her brother?
I highly recommend this story to anyone loving an action packed mystery filled with intrigue, romance and camaraderie. The entire series has been attention grabbing, but this one stole my heart as my fav so far!
Dark ‘N’ Deadly examines domestic terrorism in the form of an extremist group (almost a cult) against the American Government. It also looks closely at child abuse, slavery, and sexual exploitation. Heavy topics, but written in such a way that takes nothing from the seriousness of the subjects, but does not make the story heavy or depressing. At its heart, the story is a romantic suspense/action novel and does not rely upon a heavily dramatic storyline to propel it.
If you enjoy a character-driven romantic suspense/action story that has dogs taking an active role in the story, then you will love Tee O’Fallon’s Federal K-9 series as much as I do. Dark ‘N’ Deadly was a fantastic instalment to this series that built on the world created already created in the first books and introduced new characters to fall in love with. All while expanding on the humans and dogs you already love.
This may be book 3 in the Federal K-9 series but it can absolutely be read as a stand alone and still understood. However, I do recommend the previous books because they did introduce these 2 characters and they are just great reads. In this one we get Eric Miller and Tess McTavish story. Eric works for the ATF and pulls over Tess’s little brother in a truck that is full of explosives. Tess drops everything and comes to try to get her brother out of trouble, and hopefully disappear again before they are found. Little does she know, the minute she came to help she was already found and in danger. And Eric doesn’t know yet exactly what is going on yet, but he has a feeling that it has to do with the man he wants to bring down more than anything. Now he has to decide between revenge and keeping Tess and her brother safe.
I absolutely loved this one! Eric is this stand up, sweet, alpha man who has demons that he still has to face. But it really doesn’t stop him from doing what he needs to or figuring out what he needs to be happy. Tess went through so much growing up but she still manages to keep a light in her that I loved! The fact that she doesn’t let those things hold her back and is still trying to make her dreams come true all while trying to help her brother-loved everything about her!! This book had suspense but it also had a couple that truly falls in love and realizes exactly what they need to do in order to make a true future for themselves.
Dark ‘N Deadly is book three in Tee O’Fallon’s Federal K-9 series. I can tell you that these books can be read as standalone titles because this is the first one I’ve read in the series and had I not known there were other books, I would have assumed it was a standalone book. However, I’m a fan of series books so I’m always going to recommend you read them in order because I feel like you get more out of each book. So, at some point, I’ll be going back to read books one and two because I really liked this book. And I’ll tell you why!
I love romantic suspense. I’ve always loved romance books but Nora Roberts’ Hidden Riches made me fall in love with romantic suspense. (It still tops the list as one of my all-time favorite books!) And while contemporary romance, military romance, and romantic comedies are all great reads, romantic suspense is my #1 favorite subgenre in romance books.
So…Dark ‘N Deadly… With one phone call, Tess is yanked back into a past that she had very nearly not escaped from. Only this time, it’s a lot more dangerous and a lot more complicated than it ever was. And while she’s thrilled her little brother is back in her life, she’s not so thrilled (or maybe too thrilled when she shouldn’t be) to have ATF Special Agent Eric Miller and his K-9 partner, Tiger, in her life. With both Tess and her little brother, Jesse’s lives on the line, will Eric and his team be able to save them, themselves, and potentially countless others in time?
NICUnurse’s Rating: As far as romantic suspense goes, this book had all the right elements and the plot unfolded in all the right ways. It had a complicated but inherently good hero and heroine, a complicated storyline that unfolded just enough with each chapter that it drug the reader (that’s me, btw) deeper and deeper into the mystery without a huge information dump to confuse or make the reader lose interest, and a plot twist you don’t quite see coming but isn’t so far out in left field it feels like it doesn’t belong in the story at all. Looks like it’s three for the win with this book: 3 great plot elements, 3 great main characters, and it’s the 3rd book in the series so we’ll just call Dark ‘N Deadly a triple threat!
I give Dark ‘N Deadly by Tee O’Fallon 4.5 out of 5 stars!
. Wow, another amazing story in this amazing series. From the first page until the last, this thriller pulled me in and kept me on the edge of my seat until the end. It was non stop action, suspense, intrigue and danger. Eric and Tess were great characters. There were many wonderful characters in this thrilling story that I would love to read more about. I also love all of the K 9’s in in this series. I can’t wait to read what this talented author writes next.
When ATF Special Agent Eric Miller pulls over an old truck, he has no idea what events have been set in motion. The driver is Jesse McTavish, who is unknowingly hauling explosive material. Jesse is the younger brother of Tess whom Eric met, and was immediately attracted to, a year ago at the Dog Park Café. Tess has never forgotten Eric, but her past still haunts her and she must avoid him at all costs. He along with his K-9 Tiger and Federal K-9 friends will race the clock to thwart a group that plans to build and activate a bomb, killing thousands. When Tess realizes who Eric is after, the man who is responsible for the death of his ATF colleagues, will he understand why she hid from her past? A thrill-ride as Eric and Tess fight for justice and their need for each other. A strong storyline and amazing characters, with visits from past characters, make this book and series so very special. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
This book was everything I hoped it would. The plot was fast paced. The characters were well defined & identifiable. The K9’s were shown in both their intense, focused work mode & their happy, playful “at rest” mode. Tess was trying to escape everything about her childhood except her brother Jess. She wasn’t about to tell anyone her history, not even Eric. Eric was injured & his friends killed in an explosion engineered by the man he was still chasing. He’d do anything to catch him but nothing has stuck. When he’s pulled into helping Tess with her brother, he doesn’t believe it may lead to what he wants. The chemistry between Tess & Eric is hot & they can’t resist each other. Can they find a way to stay safe & get the bad guy?
Tee O’Fallon writes a wonderful and in depth law enforcement procedural. Tess and Eric have history together. Nine months later when they meet the circumstances are not great. They are like night and day in personalities. Tess is lightness even among all the darkness she has experienced in her life. Eric likes order and grey. His best friend is his K-9 partner. When he arrests Tess’ brother it gives him an opportunity to spend time with her. This is an intense and action packed story. The author takes the reader on a tour that shows the great work that law enforcement does to catch the bad guys. It also looks at parenting and how what happens in our childhood can impact our adulthood. Both Tess and Eric are struggling with the impact their parents have had on their lives. They each have to struggle and find their way through these horrors before they can come out on the sunny side. There is also heated moments that will leave you turning the pages.
I have loved every book in this K-9 series and this one was no exception. The books always have plenty of drama and suspense but also a great romance story and the true star of the show is always the dog.
The two characters in this book are total opposites Eric Miller and his dog Tiger are totally in control at all times everything by the book Eric has a rule and a time for everything in his life Then he meets Tess McTavish she is a woman who believes in no rules and tends to live in her won dream world believing in a lot of things that Eric would see as hocus pocus, but they are perfect for one another she makes him unwind and he grounds her. With her and her brother involved with the group that Eric believes expressible for his teams death years ago is he only using her or will something that can last develop between them.
Great addition to the Federal K-9 series. I was hooked from the first page and had to keep reading to see what would happen next. Loved the push and pull between Eric and Tess. They had such explosive chemistry when they finally got together. Jesse and Tiger rounded out their family perfectly. The ending left me smiling.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC received via NetGalley.
Like the others in this series Dark ‘N’ Deadly features a hot cop and his K-9 companion. This book takes us to some dark places where you are glad we have heroes like ATF Special Agent Eric Miller and his explosives detecting K-9, Tiger to keep us safe. I absolutely adored hippy dippy Tess McTavish and the way she shakes up Eric’s world. This is a well written story bound to keep you flipping pages. A terrific addition to the series but each book can be read stand alone.
Opposites really do attract, and you can’t get any more opposite than Eric Miller and Tess McTavish. Eric and is super adorable (yet deadly) K-9, Tiger have a strict regime, everything is black and white (or grey and white), rules are rules, and life should be orderly. Tess on the other hand just loves colour, the brighter the better, and quite honestly she does live in her own dream world, also, she’s a huge fan of feng shui, crystals, yoga etc, etc, you get my gist. When their worlds collide the attraction they feel towards each other cannot be ignored, no matter how hard they try. Add in the secrets and lies, oh and let’s not forget about the possible bomb threat, and you’re in for a roller coaster of a ride. I’m loving the Federal K-9 series, of which this is book 3, they can however all be read as standalones. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. I listened to the audiobook and Vanessa Daniels did well, although I do wish that there was a dual narration with a male voice- her male voice was good but a little forced.
The story was pretty exciting. Tess and Eric knew each other from a past case (Tess was a friend of the heroine in the prior story, from what I can gather- I actually only listened to the first and the third in this series.). Tess escaped from a cult-like group in Alabama and now that her brother wants to, she wants to help him but they get caught up in some really bad situations because of her past connections. This was a fast moving story and I adore the dogs in this series.
The reason I gave it only 3 stars is because how irrational Tess was. She lies, even though she knows that he will find out the truth. She then gets angry that he’s really angry with her about her lies even blaming him for not being able to move on from her past, rather than than admitting that his anger was justified due to her outright lying. It was so irrational that it me not like her very much. I think that the story would have been just as good if this irrational behavior wasn’t introduced into the story.
