I LOVE Kathryn Le Veque’s books for so many reasons, but I have to say this book may just be one of my favorites when I swore I’d never be able to pick favorites. It’s proably because I’ve always been obssessed with Richard the III and his tragic story in England’s history, how he was betrayed by his own men on the battlefield and sold out so Henry Tudor could take over the throne.
This story is about the son of one of the Knights who betrayed Richard III, and the author does a superb job of really selling the darkness that spreads in the hero’s family after being the child of the man who betrayed his king. I love that sort of drama. I love Trenton, the hero, and Lysabel the heroine. They have FANTASTIC chemistry and such a good plot twisting backstory that really draws a reader in.
This is the best blend of steamy romance and realistic historical fiction out there which is why Le Veque is one of my go-to authors for historical romance.
Trenton de Russe is an assassin for King Henry VIII, and his reputation makes most people fear him. If he was really as bad as they thought, he could have easily solved his problem. His King would probably not have raised an eyebrow over it. He is however a proud, honourable and sometimes lonely man.
Abused wife Lady Lysabel de Wilde should not really be so happy with the turn her life has taken, but she can at last live without fear. She and her daughters needed a hero and one found them.
Another fabulously emotional story from our talented author. The families we have all grown to love have more than their share of turmoil. Being honourable is sometimes nearly impossible.
I loved every page and am now going to wait ( very impatiently) for the next one.
This author doesn’t know how to write a bad book. She doesn’t even know how to write a 4 Star book. She is consistently a 5 Star read, and you would think that she would start repeating herself somewhere along the line, but every single story is original and unique. The only thing similar is that the books are written in the author’s style, which drags me into the story and makes me feel like I’m walking the hallways of the castles as the story unfolds.
This is a story of love, revenge, friendship and loyalty. And ponies. You will bust out the tissue box one moment and be cheering out loud in others. And I totally didn’t stand up and yell when Dane and Cort came riding onto the grounds. OK, maybe I did. But thankfully only my cat saw me do it and I won’t be locked away soon. Easily highly recommended – so pick up a copy and get on Le Veque’s roller coaster, you won’t be sorry you did.
This series is wonderful. keeps you wanting more
Midieval Knight who comes from a respected family, serves the king as an assassin. What happens when one of the men he is charged to bring to the king for punishment also happens to be beating his wife when Trenton and his 3 friends arrive to bring the horrible man to justice? A fantastic story with twists and turns that keep Trenton and his lady love in a protracted separation.
What a story from Kathryn LeVeque. This is a gripping tale of Trenton de Russe as he discovers that his life is not as hopeless as it seems to him. On a mission, from Henry VIII: he and his band of assassins save the beaten wife of the man they came to claim for Henry. After completing the job, Trenton realizes that the women is a friend of his family and he had been her fathers squire. He feels that she need protection and should be taken back to her father. He leaves Henry for some time off and finds that his world is changing and their are choices he needs to make. The most enticing part of the travel home, is the two little daughters of Lysbeth; and the discovery that they need ponies, that Trenton provides, to continue on with their journey. What a wonderful story this is.
“None of us knows how much time we have left. But in the time we have left, we must make those days count. We must fight the good fight, and live the good life, because once we are laid to rest, we will be remembered by those deeds.”
Kathryn LeVeque has once again written a beautiful historical romance that I did not want to end. Highly recommend this or any of her stories!
I loved this book !!!
Trenton and Lysbeth’s story was so intriguing as you start to meet them seeing how in that time that wives are treated anyway they are by their husband and that no one family friends or foe can’t do anything to stop them,
Then as you start getting into the story as only Kathryn le Veques, tells them you can’t help but keep reading and reading. Then as you start to see the love that is growing the possibility of it being just hero worship or just thinking they love each other you start having tears coming or grins slowly coming in the emotions that each character brings.
You have basically an assassin for the king, taking out a sheriff but in the process the lady is being beaten what to do when you see she’s someone you know…
Then you have a lady that has been getting abused, her children being terrorized finally being free…
Two adorable girls that should be happy, running around playing being loved and cared for by both parents but one that is pure evil…
Then as Kathryn brings two well known friends and knights together who love each other, their families and the love of a son ( who’s married to an evil woman ) the other’s (daughter widowed) wanting to be together anyway…without marriage. ..what is a parent to do???
You bring brother’s who love their older brother so much that they’d do anything for him…
In Dark Moon, Kathryn has done as she always has… brings you on an emotional roller coaster of mystery, hate, sadness, truth, and reflections (among the character’s ) to everlasting love…
Thank you Kathryn le Veques for always always writing wonderful stories
As the eldest son of the knight who betrayed Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth (Gaston de Russe of THE DARK ONE: DARK KNIGHT), Trenton de Russe bears the dark legacy of men who changed the course of history. Trenton was sent to bring Lysabel’s husband to King Henry. When they capture him beating his wife, and Trenton finds out Lysabel is that wife, this is the point where I was just like WOW this is going to be great! What an emotional roller coaster. I laughed out loud, I cried, at times I just wanted to shake Trenton and just throttle Matthew Wellesbourne! This is not only a love story between Trenton and Lysabel, it is a story of two great family’s and friendship and love of family. This story definitely touched my heart! Yes this is a must read.
Kathryn Le Veque never ceases to amaze me! I have loved all of her books I have read or listened to and she still tops the last one every time. This is definitely one of my newest favorites! If she keeps this up, I’ll need to buy stock in the Kleenex Company. Not only are her storylines new and different each time, but her characters have such an amount of depth to them that we get to see all sides of their personalities! Thank goodness I finally sobbed my way through to a wonderful, unexpected ending. All I can say is that Kathryn Le Veque has an astonishing imagination and a gift for bringing the reader right into the story. Trenton and Lysabel’s story was a rocky, emotional filled journey filled with a view of faults, vulnerabilities, hope, dreams and betrayal. I don’t see how anyone could read this book and not love it and re able to relate to various points &/or problems they come across in their own lives at one time or another. Kathryn Le Veque has outdone herself again! There is no wonder why she is such a successful and gifted writer. I have more on preorder and can’t wait to read them!
This is an amazing story about a man who isn’t perfect, named Trenton de Russe. His past is littered with relationships and women who have either died, or should have, and his choices have always been a bit on the dark side. While carrying out an order for his king, he and his cohorts come upon and rescue a woman, Lady Lysabel de Wilde. Trenton, who isn’t known for being a man of deep emotion or attachment, realizes that Lysabel was once a girl from his youth, and that their families, especially their fathers, are especially close friends. For some reason though, maybe his memories, or her beauty, Trenton becomes enthralled with Lysabell.
Unfortunately, this begins an entirely new set of problems for both Trenton and Lysabel, who returns his feelings. Not everyone feels that they should act upon their feelings for each other and the odds are against them. Their burgeoning love places a wedge between their families and they must decide how to go on, before those choices are taken from them.
This was a fantastic book that I couldn’t put down! It was filled with intrigue, drama, longing, and heat. It had moments of humor, and wonderful characters that brought an hea that left me smiling. I highly recommend it.
Yet another epic novel by LeVeque! Action, romance, and substance for a good read!!! Well done!!
Disappointing
A Must to read!
Kathryn Le Veque is a high quality writer that pulled me again into her medieval story ‘Dark Moon’! I had to keep on reading to know what would happen next. She is a very descriptive author, so much I could see the surroundings where the story was set.
Trent de Russe and Lady Lysabel Wellesbourne de Wilde’s captivating story is filled with strong emotions, tenderness, passion and adventure. It was the perfect medieval romance for me! I am literally addicted to Kathryn Le Veque’s stories. I highly recommend this sublime novel!
If you have never read Kathryn Le Veque, I highly recommend her books. This author is very talented and extremely well researched. Her books, set in the medieval periods of England, Scotland, and Ireland, are completely amazing. The characters are so well developed it’s like stepping into their lives and peeking at the world in that time. I have read many of her titles and plan to read more. While she is not a spanking author, there are mentions of the disciplines of those times. Such beautiful, passionate books from which you learn so much about the status of life in those days are well worth the read. I put her on a scale akin to Jude Devereux, who is one my all time favorite historical romance writers. Do yourself a favor and get one of Katherine’s books, you won’t be disappointed. I chose to review this book because its the first one I ever read of hers and it hooked me on more.
Geez! Have your tissues ready Girls because I’m not a cryer and I boohooed my way through! Such an amazing book.
