A snarky fae, a sexy king, and forbidden desire deep as the sea. The first book in a three-book series.Once, I was a fae princess with sea-magic at my fingertips. Now? I’m a hunted supernatural in a squalid shop, stripped of my power. My only comforts are stale cookies, Elvis records, and my hula-hoop. Until a lethally sexy fae king arrives and rips even those away.
After the brutal king …
After the brutal king throws me in prison, I strike a bargain with him: my freedom in exchange for helping him find a magic blade. What Lyr doesn’t know is that the blade might restore my stolen magic.
But as we journey, the gorgeous jerk is starting to make me feel things I’ve never felt. When Lyr touches me, desire ignites. I see raging passion in his eyes, too. If I give in, I risk losing my chance at reclaiming my power. Even worse… I could be forfeiting my life.

Fantastic fae book! An awesome five star read! C.N. Crawford most certainly brings it with this fresh Urban Fantasy.
.
Aenor, a former fae princess, has been hiding out for over a century when a fae assassin tracks her down and throws her into prison. If she does not help him, she will not be seeing her little shop of magical mischief or her human friend. Lyr is the sexy fae king who must find a magical blade that will help his kingdom fight an evil. The evil is a HUGE surprise. To do so he needs Aenor, who is more than willing to reclaim her stolen power and to protect her friend. There is more to meets the reader’s eye than two enemies to loverish storyline. There are more twist and turns that I was having reader whiplash. Is that a thing? Why yes, it is!
.
Dark King is a fabulous read. I inhaled the book in one sitting and was very thankful that I had Fallen King and Rising Queen sitting on my shelf to read! What I loved the most is the historical bits and pieces thrown in to add a dash of intrigue. Lovers of Amelia Hutchins’ Fae Chronicles and Ilona Andrews’ Hidden Legacy will love love love this series as well.

Nonstop action, humor, and steam.
Dark King is an exciting above ground (and underwater) adventure. Lots of hawtness, which I love!
Ok my fav works by CN were her some of her earlier books such as the Shadows and Flame series and Dark Fae
books but i always wished that there was more heat and sizzle. This books starts down that route and hopefully as the storey progresses it will become steamier. This is more of a romance based book which normally would put me off but there is enough storey content that i really enjoyed it. Interesting plot with lots of promise for the future books.
Read in a day it was so good I couldnt put it down. Highly recommend this book to anyone who love fae fantasy novels cant wait to read the next book when it comes out.
Dark King is the first installment of The Court of Sea Fae series. I just want to say thank you to C.N. Crawford, because it has been a long time since I have read a good fae book. The main characters were well written and gave enough backstory to get right into the plot. Aenor was a smart mouth fae, that didn’t count on no one, but herself. Lyr, is a sexy mysterious fae, loyal protective and I can’t wait to see what happens to him in the next upcoming books. The supporting characters had a twist to them and I loved it. The storyline was not predictable at all, and honestly I didn’t even get one of my theories right. If you haven’t read this yet, and looking for a great book, I highly recommend this one.
Action packed from beginning to end!!!
I absolutely could not put this book down I’ve read it 3 times and it is still riveting…
Absolutely love the characters in this book and the mythology is fascinating.
The Heroine Aenor is brave and endearing. I love that she owns her mistakes and is willing to openly discuss what she remembers about her painful past.
I really like that Aenor doesn’t fully understand what happened to her but refuses to be ruled by the fear of the unknown and is fiercely determined to protect others. Aenor protects her vulnerability by wrapping herself in the persona of a deadly killer even as she only seeks to avenge the weak by punishing their attackers.
Lyr well what can I say??? HOT, SEXY AND DANGEROUS… Absolutely the perfect combination of delicious.
C.N. Crawford does not disappoint with this amazing first installment of the Sea Fae series… I can’t wait for book number 2 .
This is a must have read for fans. Don’t shy away from it because it is more romantic than other series. The plot is amazing and the romance is sexy but not overly done. The relationship builds as the characters interact over time and feels natural to the story dynamics. I can’t say enough about how well it was written because I am not one for overly romantic details (I enjoy the less is more approach). This books romance is tastefully done without diminishing the passion between the main characters.
I can’t say enough about the intriguing interwoven details of past history and current events. I’m dying to find out what happens next. Grab your copy and get settled in for an epic read… Make sure you have snacks cuz your not gonna want to stop till you finish it completely.
A thrilling page turner! I enjoy all of C.N. Crawford books but this one was fantastic! A little more steamy than their usual but tastefully written. A bit of suspense, action, and romance! Definitely a must read! I can’t wait for the next one!
What an amazing first book to this series! I got totally sucked into the story from the very beginning with its fantastic storyline and awesome characters! Twists and turns to keep u on the edge of your seat, this fun and thrilling ride is one you do not want to miss! Can’t wait to read the next book!
A fun story and a funny heroine.
Listened to the audiobook. Great narration !
This was my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. I don’t know what took me so long to start this book but I’m happy I did. PNR has always been my first love of genres. I look forward to more books by this author.
Loves these books. There’s just a lot going on.
What a fantastic story. It is jammed packed with action, suspense, drama and mystery. It keeps you on the edge of your seat with anticipation and wonder. It is extremely well written and the characters are stunningly beautiful. It is a story that has so many twists and turns throughout it. This is one story that doesn’t disappoint and is a must read.
Another book that pulled me in and made me want more ended a little to early.
Loved this book!!
Lots of things going on. From the beginning it just irked me how no matter how right she was no one would listen or believe her. Like why she was royalty. Why believe the words of some man over her. That’s annoyed me to no end.
Going through this book is like diving in the Caribbean Sea, its blue waters, the various species of fish and plant. The story brings all these pleasure to the readers, finding a beautiful place after the dark images from its beginning. It could feel like a cliche that Lyr and Aenor would fall for each other, but C.N. knows how to make it different and this is the challenge of any author: be original. An enticing, awesome and breathtaking book waits for you, don’t miss it.
Three and a half
Aenor is a Fae princess in hiding or should that be queen because her mother was killed when their kingdom vanished from the world ? Aenor has many regrets not least the fact that she was a spoiled, notorious drunk but also that the majority of her inherent magic was stolen from her. She’s tried to do much better in the human world, killing the monsters and befriending those who need help. What she doesn’t want is to be caught by the Fae but everything goes down the pan when a Fae King discovers her hideout and she does the only thing that she knows will save her and that’s kill him with cold, hard iron but sometimes the dead come back !
I had high hopes for this but sadly just didn’t believe in the relationship that gradually formed between Aenor and Lyr. I’m a hopeless romantic and to my mind this was just about lust and a quest for power. I did enjoy the twist ( obviously my lips are sealed ) but was totally baffled by the character Salem who was introduced. Is he the true enemy or is he going to be another notch on her bed post ? I’m informed that the next book gets better so might give it a go but as I type honestly I’m undecided.
This is the book that started it all for me. You will not be disappointed. I’d love to go into exquisite detail however my excitement won’t let me not share spoilers please take my word and read the book!
C.N. Crawford’s Court of the Sea Fae trilogy is fantastic! It’s a short series (which I’m always a fan of), but it gives you some great characters and storyline. It’s a great mix of PNR and rom com, so you should definitely check it out if that does it for you.
I would highly suggest this!
Great read!!!
Loved Aenor and Lyr, I just could feel their conection from the start… the plot is great, with a lot of mysteries and unexpected twists and turns, romance, lots of action and a feeling that the best is yet to come, still so many unsolved questions… Can’t wait to read the next book, totally recommended!!!
