Since having read the first one I could not pass this one up. This one takes up with King and Ace whom you soon trail along with not wanting to miss any of their parts. He has quite the dilemma with us becoming anxious a time or two. We keep getting thrown into a mix by this author that twists us up as we wait for the answers. Sometimes you wonder are you going to have to come after someone. Pages will be smoking as they fly. Oh but can we wait?
I had no idea where the story was going to go.
There was a bit more mystery in this one and it kept me guessing!
This book has a new side for us to see of Kelsie. Her writing keeps getting better and better.
She has her sweet stuff and now we have a bit darker.
Ace and Kingston are again fabulous. Ace shows King that she can be in his world and she’s not afraid to show it!
I hope we see more books in this series and I hope we see more of Ace and King.
My first book by this author and I was hooked at page one! Dark King is an intense, suspenseful read that kept me intrigued the whole way through. Ace and King are great together and seem to bring out the best in each other. I haven’t read book 1 and was able to follow and enjoy the story , but definitely want to read Wild card !
Wowza!!! What an intense and angsty book!! Exciting on one hand but heart felt on the other! Had a touch of humor that seemed to calm the intensity of their situation. Crime fighting crime! Terrific story!!
The conclusion to Ace and Kingston’s story is here and what a wild ride it was! OMG! It was better than anything I could have imagined!
It picks up right where book one Wild Card leaves off and is jam packed full of fast paced drama, action and hot smouldering scenes! I’m beyond excited and not so patiently waiting to see where the rest of this series goes!
I can’t flippin wait!!
This book is intense and had me on the edge of my seat for the entire book – but man, is it good. While it isn’t a long read, it definitely packs in a lot of suspense, a lot of action, some steaminess, and some happy (and not-so-happy) endings. Ace and King go to hell and back in order to protect those they love- including each other – and there are some brilliant twists in here that I didn’t see coming. The series isn’t quite over yet, but I finished this book feeling incredibly satisfied with the ending and how the book itself played out. Great read!
The follow up the Wild Card this story didn’t disappoint. This takes us on the journey of bringing down the enemy. King also is looking for his sister, seemed to have disappeared. Ace is worried about her friend Gigi. As Ace and King fall in love, they plot to bring down Burlone.
We get introduce more to Dex and who he is to Diece.
This book had me hooked that I read it in one day. I had to know. I still got all the feels from this story. laughed loved and cried.
I was so moved by this book well both books.
But a few unanswered questions, which could be coming in the next book. Imagine when I saw that..
So go grab this book it’s a must.
I love Kingston and Ace. Things are not always black and white. Kingston is definitely not all bad. He’s in a small way like the Dark Knight of the mafia. While I love them both Ace is my favorite of the couple. The amount of pain and abuse she went through is so terrible it just guts me but Ace is resilient, strong and courageous beyond belief. Ace would willingly face down her nightmares and risk herself to save the lives of others. She’s a pretty awesome individual.
This part of Ace and Kingston’s journey had me gripping the edge of my seat while trying to figure out what the final out come would be. I enjoyed the twists at the end. It was definitely a surprise.
I can’t wait for the next book.
Dark King is the 2nd book in the Advantage Play series by Kelsie Rae.
Book 2 picks up where the book 1 cliffhanger ending left off. Let me say , we get to see the real Kingston in this book. He has the ones he love in danger and he can only depend on himself so he lets himself out to “play” so to speak. There is so much twisted, raw, masterful, intense, dirty, vengeful, powerful, emotional, unexpected, mixed with heat, drama, angst, love and hate.
“Ace” and King’s story is epic. The plot is fantastic and their chemistry is sizzling hot. Without giving anything away, the twists and turns will keep the reader on the edge until the very end. Will Kingston be the ultimate winner? Whose’s Ace mom?
Oh there’s so many twists that are coming and people that are who they aren’t who they seem… I just want book 3 now. I enjoyed reading book 2 and enjoyed this dark romance that deliciously tempting and swoon-worthy.
My Rating: 4.5 stars *******
Dark King is a thrill ride I could stay on forever! Have you ever encountered a series that you wish you could forget, just so you could read it all over again like it’s the first time. THIS is how the Advantage Play series feels! Filled with plot twists, deceptions and characters you don’t know if you can trust – this book will keep you turning the page faster than you can read. (Try not to be a douche and send the author crazy messages when you’re done – yes, I’m that person.) This series just gets better with each book and I have a countdown on my phone for when the third book releases. For someone who writes such sweet and tender romances, Kelsie Rae sure knows how to bring you to the dark side, and make you want to stay!
This book picks right up where Wild Card leaves us with a cliffhanger. Burlone has King’s sister, Regina, and Ace and D suspect that he also has her best friend, Gigi. Every time I thought I had it all figured out, it was time for a plot twist. I loved reading this book – especially Ace’s rules, and her deck of cards with their significance to her life. There is such wonderful chemistry between King and Ace – they truly understand each other so well. I love the Lie-Truth thing that they do. Before this series, I had only read a regular romance book from this author, and chose this series based on that one reading. This is so different, and yet just as good.

This is a sequel to wild card and once again I fell in love with ace and kingston even more. You get to really see the true kingston come to life throughout the book. Kelsie rae what have you done to me!?!? This series is amazing and im glad its just the start of this wonderful series. This book is a page turner big time and 5 stars all the way! Can’t wait to read more!
I was waiting for this one to come out, especially after reading the first one in the series, Wild Card. It didn’t disappoint. I must say I thoroughly enjoyed this, loved that it was unpredictable! I thought for sure I knew what was going to happen regarding a certain business card and I was so wrong! Even the characters evolved into so much more than what I was expecting!
Loved this Conclusion to “Ace” and King’s dark romantic relationship. Fast paced, well written, suspenseful and filled with graphic raw scenes.
I loved the intense passion that was a mixture of love, hate, vengeance and retribution.
Kudos to the author for having the strong immovable Kingston admitting his need for Ace.
Everything I love in a dark romance!

The stakes are higher for Ace and King in this book. This time Ace trumps King as he needs her to gain an advantage. There’s some twists and turns that I didn’t see coming, and I wonder where these ideas came from (or maybe I don’t want to know), but this book had me on edge trying to figure out how the house of cards was going to fall. So ruthless but fun!
Dark King starts right where Wild Card left off. Kelsie had me on the edge of me seat as I needed to know how this story was going to play out. Which side would win? Would King be able to save his love and his sister? Had all the cards been dealt or did someone have an “Ace” up their sleeve. Sometimes even a king needs help and this story was no exception. I love this darker more intense side of her writing and I couldn’t put this book down. Kelsie Rae, this new story/series has me all in and continues to prove that you are the real deal!

What a great finale to Ace and Kingston’s story!! King is a mob boss that showed he could be sweet for the right girl. Ace is a street smart girl who’s sole purpose is to get revenge and answers about her mom’s disappearance. I found myself trying to read slower so I could try to make the book last longer. I was so sad when I got to the last page. This series is a bit different than Kelsie’s previous books. She knocked it out of the park!! I hope she continues to surprise us with different facets of her awesomeness!
Kelsie Rae has officially entered the dark side with her second book in the Advantage Play Series – Dark King by putting her own sweet spin on life in the mafia. She has also tackled one of our nation’s most widespread topics – human trafficking. Grab your whiskey and a tissue (you will need it). Come in my office and let’s have a chat about Kelsie Rae’s Dark King (read that using your best Godfather voice).
Wild Card left me on the edge of my seat with the kidnapping of Kingston’s sister Regina. In order to get his sister back, Kingston will have to win her in Burlone’s poker tournament. What’s the catch? Kingston’s buy-in is Ace.
Kingston has a special set of skills that involve getting information from people who don’t want to talk. Being an ace poker player is not one of them. He can hold his own when playing with the family but he needs to be the best. Lucky for him, Ace has already beaten Burlone at his own game once. She has studied his tactics for years and hates him enough to sacrifice herself to get Regina back from that monster.
Only Kelsie could make us fall in love with a mafia boss who’s special set of skills involve torture. Kingston, the Dark King, may rule the Romano family business ruthlessly but behind closed doors, he rules Ace with tender, loving touches. There are so many stories to tell from this wonderfully created set of characters. I really hope that there are more books to come. With my whiskey tumbler in hand, I give Dark King 5 out of 5 propellers!
I don’tt even know where to start – Dark King was awesome. After being left semi cliff hanger in book one (Wild Card), Dark King picks up right after the events of Wild Card and gives us a deep look into Kingston (the Dark King) and Ace. Kelsie Rae is an amazing author. She brings her characters to life with her prose and makes you care about them, regardless of their harsh edges. I loved Dark King, loved the Advantage Play series so far and am excited to see what Little Bird will add to the story. Great job, Kelsie! Highly Recommend!

This is the second book in this series and I feel that you must read Wild Card, book one first to fully understand everything that is going on. The intensity thickens as the story continues to unfold. I think one of the things that I’m really liking about this series is the overall feeling of a snowball effect. What started as a single plan continues to grow and morph into something bigger, more dangerous and with so much more at stake. The story is quite engaging with plenty of twists, drama, suspense. tension and emotional turmoil. I can’t wait to see what happens in book three.
