Hard one to review this: I am invested but I did struggle somewhat with these characters extreme personalities.
Both their mood-swings were intense almost at times giving me bloody whiplash especially Clover she blew hot and cold constantly throughout.
This also got slightly confusing at times but the further we went here the more clarity seemed to be offered up: Almost like a veil being slowly lifted from my eyes.
What this did have going for it in spades is its pure uniqueness this one definitely stood out from the crowd in terms of content.
So this is the first in the series had a riveting central storyline and was told from dual POV alternating chapters.
The sex was super hot very much a power struggle with both Hunter and Clover fighting for dominance, it really was fierce.
This was also extremely limited in secondary characters it was all about the dynamic between Clover and Hunter and their onward journey.
So character-wise Hunter originally came across as arrogant and detached with an inflated sense of self-importance: He lives for his work all else gets pushed aside.
What he is doing to Clover is entirely criminal but he does believe the ends justify the means and he feels that he is ultimately saving her life.
It also becomes apparent that Hunter’s past is far from pretty or conventional either.
Clover is rebellious, sticking the middle finger up to all authority her behaviour was fascinating as she didn’t react to anything how you would expect her to, shes all hard edges and bad attitude and at times is her own worst enemy.
Her constant conflict could sometimes get a tad annoying it was like all the time.
So when Hunter actually stalks his prey through the forest this had an eerie ominous undertone to it that gave me chills.
I could almost imagine a presence of darkness along with Clover encroaching slowly from the surrounding vegetation.
Watching and waiting for a weakness, ready to spring at the slightest opening in the defences; I had actual shivers.
Also, the contrasts here light and dark, gentle and fierce this book was all about the contrast.
There was also something else here that made an appearance The father and that creepy ass church, now what is all that about?
Seriously confounded and intrigued me pulling me in but then equally repelling me.
Do I actually want to know?
This story left me with so many questions, ones that I will hopefully discover in book 2 and with the arrival of Kane and a mute Ziggy hopefully all will be revealed.

This was quiet the story from Logan as I’ve read several of her book’s and each and every one has been their just amazing this story is in the same category.
This story will grab you and not let go till the end and it does end on a cliffhanger, but this lady doesn’t make her reader’s wait long for the 2nd book, so it’s worth the read.
This is Logan at her finest as the story of Clover and Dr Hunter Hill clash with their wits and wills against each other as he thinks she’ll be perfect for his study, but then Clover is her own person and soon Dr Hill has to figure out how to handle her, because she’s not quiet what he expected.
This is just my opinion and my review
Dark and deliciously sexual and twisted. Thinking shes beaten her addiction Clover (FMC) is thinking leaving rehab is the end of it but her Doctor Dr Hunter Hill has developed an unhealthy obsession with testing and breaking the demons that he believes she still has. To make her trust him with all her secrets but in the course of doing that his own slowly come to light. A game of cat and mouse between the two of them begins. Just wow theres a lot going on in this book. Hard to know who the good and the bad guys are are? Even with that ending im still not sure. A flaming great read though
This twisted and suspenseful book was well written with characters that were so well developed that I was hooked until the very last page!
This is the first book in the Blood for Blood series. Meet Dr. Hunter Hill and Clover. Both of these characters are strong individuals that like control over everything. They obviously clash and it is a battle of back and forth as they each attempt to top the other. This is a dual POV story that gives you a glimpse as to what is scrolling through their heads and gives you a chance to learn about them and attempt to find reasoning for what they do. A well written, enjoyable read that will have you determined to turn each page to see what happens next. A very suspenseful and mind twisting read. I cannot wait to read more. Enjoy!

The Hunter’s Game is the first book in the Blood for Blood series by Logan Fox. This is one of those mind-bending psychological type thrillers that keeps you guessing right till the end. A lot of the time I was scrambling, with my mind zipping through multiple scenarios, trying to figure out what the heck was going on! This story is intense, dark, suspenseful, and quite creepy. It has a raw, gritty quality- full of danger, action, and a heart-pounding fight for survival. This is my first read by Logan Fox- and what an introduction it has been! I am hooked and have already purchased/preordered the rest of the series, devouring all the books available, so far!
This is a bit of a wild ride- definitely not a fluffy hearts and flowers story. It’s not for the feint of heart, that’s for sure! There are some trigger topics depicted in the story, so if you have any issues you should definitely read the blurb and take note of the warning before diving in: “Please do not buy/read this e-book if strong sexual situations, multiple partners, violence, drugs, domestic discipline, and explicit language offends you.”
Clover Voss is 23years old, jobless, homeless and not really ‘living’. She had dreams of becoming a fashion designer but got a little lost along the way. Having just completed a stint in rehab, she’s returning to the institute for a celebratory dinner and presentation. Clover doesn’t really want to be there, as she’s never been one for rules and regulation- but she doesn’t really have anywhere else to go. The head of the Institute intrigues her, and she gets drawn into his gravitational field. A part of her knew he would be trouble, but she ignored all the warning signs. What starts out as a night of passion, turns to sheer terror, when she wakes up the next morning alone in a creepy overgrown forest, cold and confused, with bugs in her hair. It’s a city-slickers worst nightmare! Her ordeal won’t seem to end- and she soon realises that she’s just a bug trapped in a twisted science experiment- and Dr. Hunter Hill has a pretty twisted plan! But that doesn’t mean she’s going to play along! After all she’s never been one to play by the rules! But this only increases his obsession- whilst triggering both their dark pasts to emerge…
This story has a bit of a psychedelic Little Red Riding Hood vs Alice in Wonderland feel to it, in places. It’s edgy, deliciously dark, twisted, creepy, hot, steamy, and cleverly woven. We get to hear the perspectives of both Clover and Hunter, which gives us a vivid snapshot of what’s going on. The story twists and turns and is a complex and layered creation. We move from past to present and back again multiple times through the story in the form of flashbacks, which really helps to build the backstory. The only small issue I had was that there were a few editing issues which let down an otherwise compelling performance.
Definitely worth the read!
Thank you, Logan Fox!
This was my first book by this author and boy was it ever dark, suspenseful, intense, steamy, and oh so good. Just the way I love my books. Can’t wait for the next book.
Heroin Addict Clover Vos Catches Dr. Hunter Hill’s Attention – And He Has Plans For Her!
At twenty-three, Clover Vos is a heroin addict. She is homeless and penniless, with no family and no reliable friend to call. Her instincts are honed for survival. For years she has survived by targeting rich men and sleeping with them in order to have a bed to sleep in and to feed her addiction. She has just finished a six month rehab stint at Hill Institute and she needs a place to sleep for the night.
The mysterious Dr. Hunter Hill, about twenty-eight, is known by the public for his top notch rehab center and by colleagues for his unorthodox methods. He has been the local bachelor of the year three years straight, but chooses a reclusive lifestyle without friends or a love life, focusing entirely upon his profession instead.
Hunter heads the Hill Institute and has targeted Ms. Vos since she was admitted to his clinic. He spent all six months of her visit studying her charts and watching her on monitors, observing her scientifically. When she is released, he has further plans for her. But first he must lure her in by posing has her typical prey for the night.
Clover is suspicious of Hunter, however, and he becomes angry when her unpredictable behavior throws his carefully laid plans off course. Not much angers him, and he hates losing control.
Clover eventually relents and reluctantly accompanies Dr. Hill home, but she has no intention of staying more than the agreed upon hour. The tension between the pair is thick, and it marks the beginning of Hunter’s experiment on her.
The opening, in the Institute and Hunter’s home, builds suspense and creates the tension between Hunter and Clover. The next part is mostly action – a “hunt.” Part takes place in a cabin, which begins to be tedious. The final part takes place in and near Hunter’s home, setting up the sequel.
Along the way, Hunter recognizes that he hasn’t been trying to help Clover, but rather trying to prove his own hypothesis. She is replaceable for his purposes. But she has burrowed into his mind, and he steps back from his purpose in order to help her instead.
This story is infused with psychology, repressed trauma, addiction, and abuse. It alternates POVs between Hunter and Clover. It does drag in a few spots when the characters keep going back and forth and changing their line of thinking from one minute to the next.
*Spoiler* It is three quarters of the way through the book before we learn that Hunter isn’t just a victim – he did his share of evil. It seems a little late in the game, like it is an afterthought. Also, near the end, Clover runs out of Hunter’s home. The way she hurriedly ran out felt out of place. Hunter may have been creepy but there was nothing urgent about his behavior given all they had been through and his chill behavior. It felt like the scene was simply used to introduce the neighboring property.
Hunter’s history gets a little confusing. Some details appear to be contradictory or don’t quite add up. It seems evident with so much confusion and lack of clarity that more time could have been spent on planning and editing. As it stands, it will slow down a detail- oriented reader.
Overall, this is a suspenseful story that holds the reader’s interest. The characters are complex and engaging. The couple has great chemistry and good banter. It ends at a fairly stable-for-the-moment point for the couple.
This book builds and builds, it starts off as a fairly normal novel and then the intrigue builds as time progresses. Logan Fox has the ability to build suspense, starting with what might be considered a slow boil and then takes you through a roller coaster of twists and turns. This is not the darkest book I have read, however judging by the last couple of chapters and the ending there is darker stuff to come.
There were times when I seriously wanted to slap Clover, I do feel that this is the art of a good author, she made Clover real. Hunter Hill is an enigma, I want to like him and believe that he has Clover’s best interests at heart, I am not sure that is actually true. See that is the thing about this book, nothing is black and white, there are many grey areas where your imagination can run riot.
Great read and I really hope there will be further installments in the story, that’s the rub, we are at Logan’s mercy……..
This is a new author for me, and they delivered a very dark and delicious read! The plot is unique, but I would say you need to pay attention otherwise you may get lost in it at times! The characters appear well thought out and excellently described. This is a story that shows that you should never count those chickens until they are hatched and NEVER become too comfortable, humans have a way of surprising you when least expected! Have an enjoyable read!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A truly exotic and intense story. It ends in a cliffhanger, so be warned of that. But I am excited to read next book and see what happens.
I thought it was a chilling tale with these two damaged souls coming together. The doctors methods of treatment outside the institute were very twisted and seemed as likely to throw an ex-addict back into addiction. I wanted to know more about Clover’s so called friend who wouldn’t put her up for a night. And about Hunter’s sister. I hope the next book is as good. This one was compelling.
I’m in two minds about this book I hate and love it……
A dark and twisted psychological ride!
Clover is a recovering addict and has returned to the institute to take part in the celebration and receive her thirty-day chip. Life has not been quite the joy ride for her since leaving but she has tenaciously held on to her sobriety.
Dr. Hill the founder and the man of the hour has a plan. He believes he has discovered a permanent cure a way to prevent the relapses and he also has selected his first study case.
I’m going to start with the negatives first – Why did Clover have such a negative view on the opening evenings events? Honestly, her unjustified anger was a major turn off for me as a reader. The whole housing situation also left me totally confused, she had supposedly been out for a bit and had only one night at the senders home – There was also a couple other ‘moments’ that occur during the opening that I had trouble grasping.
Clover comes off as bitchy and annoying I had a real hard time accepting her character. However, she did grow on me eventually. Once she was stripped of that false anger and bravado there was a tough woman who had a deep well of strength and wasn’t about to go belly up or kowtow for anyone ever again.
Hunter -Intelligent, charismatic, sexy – He truly believes that he is doing the right thing for the sake of ‘saving’ others. But as the story progresses he seems to question “mother” (so not telling) and his own experimental procedures. I can’t help questioning his motives as well as his sanity. He was that character that I loved to hate.
I don’t want to give away any spoilers because this was a bit of a psychedelic journey – both for the characters and for me as a reader.
The story does end a bit abruptly but being that this is the first book in the series I expect that to an extent. It does have an HFN. A few scenes were a bit redundant and dragged and there was some minor typos present.
Overall this was a pretty solid read that definitely messed with my mind and engaged my curiosity
Looking forward to reading book two
Wow! What an incredible story. This book will have you hooked from the start. The characters are amazing and draw you in, making you want to learn more. This book is dark, intense, thrilling and twisted and one I’m sure you will love. A definite must read I recommend it….
Absolutely fantastic. The twist and turn keep this suspense going throughout the entire book
Add in a romantic chemistry and you have a book that once you to start to read you will not be able to put down until complete
Enjoy
