Betrayed by those she trusted, penniless and alone, Darcie Finch is forced to accept a position that no one else dares, as assistant to dangerously attractive Dr. Damien Cole. Ignoring the whispered warnings and rumours that he’s a man to fear, she takes her position at his eerie estate where she quickly discovers that nothing is at it seems, least of all her handsome and brooding employer. As … Darcie struggles with her fierce attraction to Damien, she must also deal with the blood, the disappearances … and the murders.
With her options dwindling and time running out, Darcie must rely on her instincts as she confronts the man she is falling in love with. Is he an innocent and misunderstood man … or a remorseless killer who prowls the East End streets?

Just what I was looking for to read me to sleep…
Why do authors think they have to have explicit sex in their books? None of the classics do. And some of the classics I have read numerous times. This started out to be a good story and then came page after page of sex which I bypassed but found I was unable to continue reading this book. Maybe it is a good story, but I’ll never know. No bad …
I love a book like this it’s a quick read and had a happy ending but has a good mystery to it also.
Enjoy her writing immensely.
I enjoyed reading this book. In fact i did it in one sitting. Its allusion to the heroine’s love interest being a murderer reminiscent if Jack the Ripper had me turning the pages. The romance was a little on the sappy side but i do love a happy ending.
Couldn’t finish it… was just too hard to get into
Simple story plots but interesting and keeps you entertained which is all I want.
Great read
Having always been a fan of Eve Silver’s writing, and a fan of gothic romance, I was thrilled to discover Eve Silver had written a gothic romance series! Dark Desires is the perfect start. It is moody, romantic and filled with intrigue. I devoured it and can’t wait to read the next book.
I didn’t think I would like this book but once I started to read it I really enjoyed the story and the characters
The whole series is excellent. Normally do not care for period pieces, but these transcend the historical setting. Flawed, scarred and totally redeemable characters.
Unnecessary graphic sex
New author!
I liked this far better than I thought I would!
it wasnt something i was interested in
The terrors of London’s underbelly, the betrayal of trust and the disbelieving hope of a better future had me gripping my chair. The battle of reason over evil told in the voice of a wary girl/woman who does not know what the future may hold. Brava!
Excellent Enjoy it very much I like gothic books
I cut my teeth on Gothics and this was definitely one that held my interest. Set in old England as usual, it was fast moving with a good story line. Although I gave it five stars, I noticed it’s in bad need of editing. There are words inserted in wrong places, verb tenses are wrong and it need a thorough editing review to clean it up. The next …
I enjoyed this. I liked that the heroine had courage and loyalty even through her fears, and her culture’s expectations. And I liked that she kept finding her “attempts” at believing in gothic horrors to be unfounded — even prosaic once revealed (laundry, not bodies!). The male protagonist was a bit overdone in his self-loathing, but his kindness …
Enjoyed it
