A great paranormal romance series
I love this series.
In the thirteenth book of the Dark/Carpathian series, vampire slayer Natalya is on the run from a very determined Carpathian hunter. Raised to hate both hunters and vampires, she actively avoids hunters, but vampires always seek her out. Since she’s part mage, part human, and part Carpathian, she wields a lot of power and magic. Though she comes from the distinguished Dragonseeker line, she doesn’t know much about her heritage, and what she does know, well, it’s a lie.
Vikirnoff Von Shrieder has been searching for Natalya for a while and finally finds her in the midst of battle, but she isn’t the lifemate he expected. She’s brash, funny, stubborn, and doesn’t obey him. In other words, she drives him crazy!
Vikirnoff and Natalya bicker a lot, but it’s hilarious playful bantering. He was bossy, sure, but he wasn’t cold and harsh to her. She was strong enough to handle and flabbergast her man, which makes her one of the best heroines in the series.
A great cast of secondary characters played big roles in this book. Jubal, Gabrielle, Falcon, Sara, Mikhail, Raven—just to name a few.
This book definitely had a lot of villains and action scenes, which was great. Xavier, the evil and powerful mage intent on destroying the Carpathians, is probably the cruelest, strongest villain yet to be introduced in the series. Sweet and brilliant Gabrielle meets an unexpected fate, her future with Gary temporarily shelved. Razvan, Natalya’s beloved twin, has turned evil, or so everyone believes. So much stuff happened, and more will be revealed in later books.
This is definitely one of the better books in the series.
4 Stars
Natalya and Vikirnoff are wonderful characters. Really appreciated Natalya being a badas^ woman that could fight and help Vikirnoff. Great story and a must read!
This has to be one of my favourite books in the series.
We met Vikirnoff in Dark Destiny (with brother Nicolae and Destiny) Vikirnoff was sent on a mission to find and assist a young women with psychic abilities (the society are interested in her and the vampires too) it also takes him away from killing the vampires (he is very close to turning into the undead) and after assisting Rafael De La Cruz (Dark Secret) destroy a master vampire, the darkness is almost taken him over, but like Carpathian’s before him, he will seek the dawn before that happens, his honour is now the only thing that keeps him going (he is now not worried his brother will turn vampire as he found Destiny his lifemate)
Natalya is on the move, something is calling her to the Carpathian Mountains.
Taking her two friends with her, Natalya wants to know what is behind the compulsion to visit these mountains.
There isn’t much that scares our heroine, she knows there are monsters in the world, she hunts them…..
Natalya is a strong character, able to defend herself, she knows how to wield magic, her lineage is a revered one. Natalya is a dragonseeker (a carpathian who has never turned vampire, and is well known in the Carpathian community) she can also turn into a tiger (most Carpathians use wolf or owl form to travel, Natalya’s tiger isn’t just an image she uses, her tiger is actually a part of her (like the jaguar people)
Vikirnoff and Natalya meet on a battleground, she is facing a vampire, he almost falls out of the tree when emotions and colour are restored to him. He’s also annoyed that she isn’t like what carpathian women ought to be (meek, stay at home and look after the children) she is the total opposite of what he was looking for in a lifemate.
The story then continues with Natalya trying to ditch Vikirnoff at every opportunity.
Fierce battles and a ritual bind them together, there is coming calling her to the mountains, and with or without his help, Natalya will find it…..
The book continues to give us more information on why the Carpathian’s can’t have children. We see an evil more powerful than the society, an evil that could wipe out the Carpathians.
We catch up with a few old characters, we meet a few new ones that are important to the story.
It had lots of hilarious moments. It also had a few OMG moments …..
Dark Demon the 16th book in the Dark series was a game changer! Dayum this book got my blood pumping! OMG it was so action packed from start to finish. Dark Demon had me all over the place. One minute I was laughing hard, the next I was needing a cold shower, the next I was losing it over the epic fights especially at the end. I think my heart stopped for a few minutes with the last fight! Just sayin’
I loved everything about Natalya! She was perfect I wouldn’t change anything about her. She was so super amazingly kick butt and snarky and I think she turned me Bi! I have a total girl crush on her. Natalya was brave, loyal and funny. The smart mouth things she said had me laughing so much. She loved old horror movies, referencing them often in her sassy comments, and had more weapons then a small army. Natalya was part Mage and part of the Dragonseeker Clan which meant she was not only kick ass but she was bad ass at magic too! Natalya was no docile little woman needing a man to save her she was a warrior through and through. I am also in love with Vikirnoff . Hell I love them both so much maybe I could be the meat in their couple sandwich. Ménage a trois? Yes please!! Vikirnoff had envisioned his lifemate for hundreds of years as a sweet, calm, soft woman who would listen, and obey him. He thought she would hang on his every word and live to please him, boy did he get a surprise. Vikirnoff was a man of few words. Controlled, calm and a male of great power Vikirnoff was sexy as hell! He was very old worldly and dominate.
I loved reading about Vikirnoff and Natalya falling in love with each other. There was something about their relationship that just grabbed me. They are one of those couples that I just connected to. The way Vikirnoff respected Natalya even though he wanted nothing more then to lock her away and protect her from everything. The way Natalya melted the coldness to him. Their cute and funny banter. They have some searing passion that burned right though my kindle and set me ablaze! Vikirnoff was a little bit of a controlling Dom in the sack, ripping clothes off, restraining her hands, and it was hott!
This book had some big things happen in it. The vampires in this book are way more kick butt too. The Mage parts of the plot were cool and really added to the Carpathian world. The fact that the Mages and Vampires are teaming up now, made the enemy way more evil and harder to fight. The battle scenes were more epic in this book. That end battle had me losing my mind. OMG My Gregori!!!! I was a bundle of nerves. Like straight losing it !! Panic attack. That end battle was so kick butt….. The whole time I was yelling at the top of my lungs.
This book was so awesome. I loved every minute of it. Gregori’s book Dark magic is my favorite of the series, this one is my second favorite in the series. I don’t know how Christine Feehan does it. How she manages to keep this series fresh and exciting. She has amazing talent as a writer and a huge imagination. I mean my God who does she think up these things. Such a cool amazing world, and with epic characters. I just love this series!
