Mercury “Merc” WatsonNot your average boy next doorHot stud, indie music fan, dirty mechanicWith a panty-melting grinAnd eyes that hide dark secrets… mine I can’t hope to touch him
Maybe it’s for the best.
I’ve sworn off men, you see. For good.
Until one day he asks me out.
Woo baby, right?
Only he thinks I’m my twin sister.
Then he admits that behind the golden façade he hides a dark secret and….
I’m hooked.
I need to know what it is. Solve the riddle.
Without losing my heart to him.

Jo Raven sure knows how to write a book that will keep you captivated from the start to the end! This book may not have a totally broken hero like her previous books, but Merc is just so perfect! Dark Child is such an amazing read, I highly recommend picking a copy of this book up!
Cosima is a twin, she is a little insecure about herself, but she has a heart of gold. Always there when her sister or friend needs her, no matter what. I thought she was such a great female lead.
Merc is just a sweetheart. We have met him before from his sisters books, Caveman and Bad Wolf. I was so happy to see that Merc got his happy ever after! Even though he has had a great childhood thanks to his loving mother and sisters, he is plagued by something he doesn’t understand. It made for a very interesting storyline!
Cosima and Merc had some seriously HOT chemistry. They were scorching up my kindle, that’s for sure. The book has also set the story for a few others to follow, so I can not wait for those!!! I have so many questions about JC! And who will make Ross a better man? I need the answers and I can’t wait to discover them!
Dark Child is well written and it is paced well so I wasn’t bored and didn’t skip anything. I loved this story and I hope you do too! Jo Raven has once again shown me why she is one of my favourite authors!
4.5 Stars
I’m so glad that we’re finally gettin Merc’s story. Merc’s bad dreams are getting worse and they feel so real, like he’s missing something important. So are they just dreams or not? Dark Child is an intriguing read, it flowed at a good pace, and it kept me engrossed from start to finish. The characters were likeable, and they seemed to bring out the best in eachother. I loved seeing past characters Mark, Octavia, Gigi, Jarrett even Ross. Although JC is a weird one, but I’m sure that’s because his story will be coming soon.
Great story!
Love this book. It was so intriguing it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I couldn’t put it down. Cosima is great. I love how she steps in for her sister and takes care of her but I also thought it was so great when she stood up for herself and decided to do for herself, finally. Merc is a great guy with a great family that has a dark secret that he doesn’t even know about.

I don’t really know how to start this review. It had everything you want in a story that keeps you on your toes but it just took me a while to get into the story and really figure out where it was going but somewhere it picked up and it kept me wondering…
Cosima doesn’t really know what to do with her life and keeps going back and forth to help her twin sister out at school and work but when she meets Mercury, there’s something between them that’s more than chemistry. The more time they spend together, the more their bond keeps on growing and gets deeper. But Merc’s nightmares are getting worse and his past is coming closer each night. Now it’s only a matter of time before they either destroy him completely or he finally learns what really happened that night when he was a little boy… Will he find out and finally have piece of mind?…
Fantastic book!! Lots of mystery and action!! Loved cos and merc! You must read this book! I voluntarily reviewed a advanced reader’s copy.
College student Mercury Watson has good dreams about the pretty Sophie, a girl he keeps seeing around campus, a girl he can’t stop thinking about. Too bad she barely knows Merc exists. Merc also has bad dreams of a bogeyman, and a body, and blood. But are Merc’s nightmares just nightmares, or are they memories of something that happened? Cosima Parker sometimes sits in for her twin sister Sophie’s class, which is where she sees Merc. Cos is waiting for a guy to really be interested in her and not use her as a doormat and has sworn off guys but can’t stop thinking about the handsome Merc. When Sophie tells Cos to cherish every moment and go after the guy she wants, she takes a chance on Merc. When Merc is with Cos, the voices in his head fall quiet, the world rights itself, the maddening spin of dreams and images drops away. Meeting Merc has made Cos feel pretty and wanted … it’s funny how finding the right person can change how you see yourself. Can two broken people be able to heal each other? Will Merc be able to find out what’s behind his nightmares?
Jo Raven delivers an intriguing, angsty and steamy story that will draw you in and leave you wanting more. I can’t wait for Sophie, Ross and Evan’s story.
Merc is the brother of Gigi and Octavia from previous novels, and he is haunted by nightmares from his childhood. Cosima is a twin, and she occasionally stands in for her sister Sophie in her classes. No spoilers; this is a definite must read, you will not be disappointed! This is a beautifully written story from this extremely talented author, and is filled with angst, emotion, heartbreak, mystery, family, and love. I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I cannot highly recommend this authors’ work for all readers. Truly brilliant work Jo!!
Such a beautiful story for Mercury Watson – Jo Raven doesn’t disappoint. In the previous books where he was mentioned he was a happy go lucky guy (ManCave, BadWolf, CaveMan). Now reading how powerful his story is just floored me. With the help of his loving family and his new love, he will be able to finally face the demons that haunt his sleep. I’m not going to go into to much detail because being the spoiler is not what I want to do. This book is so readable and wonderful.
I just found this story so INTERESTING! First of all, Merc- who would have guessed how tortured this boy was? I love how he calls the object of his affection psycho girl, and the way that plays out amuses me. I was so captivated by everyone’s dreams, how they are connected. I love his family and how they are so there for one another. I love how they’ve grown, and I don’t recommend reading this on it’s own. I mean you could, but to get the full experience you should read Caveman and Bad Wolf. As much as Merc is struggling through something, Cos is a heroine who is damaged, not fully stepping into her life, not sure what she brings to the table. Not sure she is fully enough. These two bring each other strength and it’s beautiful.
The story takes a bit of a wild, adventurous turn and doesn’t turn out how I expected, leaving me with some question marks and dying for future stories.
Merc’s story was like a trip down a rabbit hole of an entirely different kind. I thought it was pretty interesting how he and Cos met, and why they kept having an off again, on again connection. Cos is a sweetheart, but she doesn’t think she’s meant to be the light of anyone’s life. She and Merc had amazing chemistry, and despite their missed cues, they were sweet and hot when they were together. My heart broke for some of the other characters though, and I hope we’ll get to see more of them and get their stories in upcoming books.
