All of Christine’s books are awesome. Love that this one brings all the characters together.
A great paranormal romance series
I read all of Christine feehan’s book really enjoyable reading.
In the fourteenth book of the Dark/Carpathian series, Mikhail Dubrinksy calls his hunters home to the Carpathian Mountains to celebrate Christmas. Though the Carpathian men are not religious, many of their lifemates used to be humans and still enjoy human-type celebrations. Most of the men hadn’t been home in centuries—living elsewhere in the world to fight vampires—and several heed the prince’s call.
Each couple from the previous books return, and it’s great to see how their relationships are progressing. This story follows Mikhail as he visits those couples, some single men in need of lifemates, and lots of children who need protection.
Two new lifemate pairs are introduced, but the men are unable to claim their women.
My heart ached every time Skyler and Dimitri were on page together. Skyler has had such a hard life. Most males cannot recognize their lifemates until the women are adults, but Dimitri recognized Skyler as his even though she’s only 16. Given her past, she’s matured quickly. Gabriel, her adopted father, is not happy about this and is determined to keep them apart. Even though she’s scared of falling under Dimitri’s thumb, she stands up for him against Gabriel. I enjoyed every scene with them, especially the one where they’re dancing and finally connecting.
The other new couple is Manolito and Mary Ann. I’m not a fan of the De La Cruz brothers, but I felt so bad for Manolito. He nearly dies and no one knows he’s found his lifemate.
I loved the scene when Mikhail visits Joie, Traian, and her siblings, Gabrielle and Jubal. Even though Gabrielle and Gary are in love, she’s now a Carpathian and they can no longer be together if Gabby finds a destined lifemate with a Carpathian male. Gabrielle’s mom hates Gary at first sight, and this is when we readers discover that Gary is distantly descended from the Jaguars. When the mom attacks Gary and tries to go through Mikhail to do so, Traian fails to protect his prince as he’s supposed to, and Gregori berates him like crazy. It’s a very intense scene, even though Mikhail is amused, if not exasperated, with his second-in-command.
Since it’s Christmas and there are lots of small children present, someone has to play Santa. Poor Gregori. It’s so hilarious when Mikhail, his father-in-law and his prince, “request” this of him, and Gregori’s brothers are there watching from the sidelines. Savannah, however, Gregori’s lifemate, isn’t about to let her father win, so she makes Gregori into the best Santa ever.
With so many Carpathians and lifemates in one place, it’s the perfect time for their enemies to strike. The evil mage Xavier and his grandson Razvan cause trouble, and it’s a bitter reunion between Razvan and his twin sister Natalya.
I absolutely love this story. It’s my all-time favorite in the series.
5 Stars
I love everything Christen writes. Each of her diverse series’s are excellent.
This is a great book.
It’s a catch up book.
It gives us more of what the Carpathians are going through…… but it also gives us a glimpse into previous couples lives. And there quite a few couples we catch up on. We also meet a few newish characters new in we haven’t really had too much to do with these characters, but they will feature in a few books, and a certain young lady will play heavily in future books.
So ……. Mikhail is the Prince to the Carpathian people, but his race is dying …..
Carpathian women are few and far between, and if they do get pregnant, then most women lose the child before they are even born, and if they are luckily enough to give birth, most don’t survive their first year. But through a lucky meeting with a human woman, Mikhail discovered that certain human women could be converted to the Carpathian race (they had to be psychic) and then hunters were finding their lifemates, but others wouldn’t or couldn’t wait, they killed whilst feeding, thus turning into vampires.
Along with healers and humans, Mikhail is slowly gaining ground, they still have trouble conceiving children (we find out in later books how this was done) but the future for the Carpathian race doesn’t look nearly so grim.
The story goes on to tell us about the vampires beginning to form groups, hunting for both human psychic women and to take on and destroy hunters. This was unheard of for centuries (vampires were to bloated on their egos to work together, and if they did, they would willingly sacrifice newly turned vampires)
They have blood from vampires to study (they are using it to call to each other) and they are sharing knowledge of what the vampires are doing, and we still have the society looking for the Carpathians (they are a group of humans intent in destroying the Carpathian race, they are under the assumption that vampires and Carpathians are one in the same)
And when Mikhail’s daughter (Savannah) almost loses her own children (premature birth) he knows it’s time to take the fight to the vampires. He won’t lose anymore children.
This book is full of witty one liners, heart stopping moments and a few raised eyebrows
This is a sweet, short but interesting reunion of many of our favorite couples and it was great to catch up with all of them. If you’re a fan of the series, you’ll enjoy this recap very much! I certainly did. It made me eager to dive into the next feature.
Dark Celebration is a reunion of wonderful characters we have encountered in earlier and many hints to upcoming books. It is playful in spots and serious in others. Wonderful tales within the book.
Okay so Dark Celebration the 17 th book in the Dark series is a special book. It is no one persons story but like a get together for all the past couples. All the Carpathians are coming home to the Carpathian Mountains to celebrate Christmas together at Raven and Prince Mikhail’s request. Dark Celebration was so much fun to read. I loved every minute of it. This book is the perfect Thank You to anyone who is a fan of the Dark Series. It gives us crazy fans out there everything we wanted…… a chance to catch up on all the past couples. But it gave more than that. It gave us two new couples to come, lots of new pregnancies, and babies! It also adds to the overall plot of the series.
I loved seeing Mikhail again he was very funny in this book.
I loved every single second I got with Gregori! So it’s raining babies up in this book. I really loved Skyler and the fact that we meet her lifemate Dimitri in this book. Of course he doesn’t claim her she is only 16 but it will make for a awesome book in the future. Especially after Dimitri and Skyler’s dad Gabriel almost came to blows a few times!
I enjoyed all the kids in this book. Catching up with Sara and Falcon’s adopted children and Aidan and Alex’s brother Josh, and of course Josef. I really like Josef I hope he gets his own book I don’t really know how with the fact that he is only in his early 20s but I would love to see what kind of lifemate he gets.
My favorite part of the whole book was Mikhail making Gregori be Santa Claus and how all Gregori’s brothers took the shape of bugs just to see the Dark one being told he has to play Santa! My God I laughed so hard I had tears leaking out! But Gregori and Savannah put on an adorable show for the children and it was very sweet. This book also set up the couple for the next book Dark Possession, Manolito and MaryAnn. I don’t really know what I think of Manolito and MaryAnn to be honest. The De La Cruz brothers are the least favorite heroes of the whole series. Don’t get me wrong I like them alright but they don’t wow me like a lot of CF Dark heroes do! I know I say this a lot in this series but this book was one of my favorites. It was great getting see all the old couples again. It was like a epic book long epilogue but better.
I liked the ability of revisiting old characters in a new setting.
I have read many of her Dark series and I love every one of them!
