There is no escaping a Reaper. I am an elite assassin, part of a brotherhood that only answers to Death. And when Death says your time is up, I’m coming for you… Carrying Death’s orders is my sole duty. I’ve never had reason to question her, even if I disagreed. But Kyra’s fierceness and willpower sheds light on my mission. She drives the darkness of my world away. The answers to the Others’ … answers to the Others’ goals lie in her past. For Kyra, I will risk going against Death’s wishes. For her…I will battle the past and the future itself.

I really loved this book and can’t get enough of this series… I highly recommend this book… the story line and continuation in this series was great.. I love how the characters knew they were ment to be together, it was Destiny.
Love this series; some books are better than others, but overall this is a very entertaining, fun series. Love the whole idea of the Reapers and it’s fun that there are tie ins with multiple series from Donna Grant to get a bigger picture of what is going on in this book world. I was thinking it was only 2 series ( Dark Kings and Reapers) but apparently there’s some other(s). I do wish it said that in the premise; I may have missed it, so I’d know all the series involved in the bigger picture.
In this one, Kyra, a light Fae, and Dubhan, a Reaper who used to be a dark Fae, find a strange magical symbol that ends up having dangerous consequences. The Reapers are beginning to realize that they can’t stay out of the fray any longer. Love the action and mystery in this one. The magical aspects were awesome. There’s some interesting, unique ideas there. The premise fully entertained me.
Kyra has been following Dubhan because she feels a connection with him, but she’s going to find herself involved in something she may not be prepared for. Dubhan knows someone is following him and is surprised to find that it’s Kyra; someone he feels protective of. Kyra and Dubhan have a great connection. Very sweet and I love that they don’t play any games with each other; they aren’t afraid to express their feelings for each other. Loved how honest Kyra is; she’s smart and uses her common sense.
I really hope Usaeil remains dead. I’m loving the new enemy, The Others, the mysterious nature of this group makes for a better nemesis than an annoying Fae “Queen” ruled by petty jealousies and moronic ideas. Here’s hoping she’s gone! Also, here’s hoping we get Rhi’s story very soon! I missed her in this book.
Looking forward to the next books! I’m anxious for the ending!
“I can’t explain why I’m drawn to you.” “It’s inexplicable, but it’s the truth. I tried to leave, I’ve attempted to forget you, but I can’t.”
Dark Alpha’s Temptation is the 9th installment of the Reaper Series. I have no read any of the previous books in this series, and after finishing this book, I have been clearly missing out. Yes, I have the worst habit of reading series like this out of order, but I will say that this book is written so well that I was able to jump in and follow right along.
Dark Alpha’s Temptation was a quick and easy read for me. I enjoyed the characters and was quickly addicted to their story. I really liked the connection between Kyra & Dubham. Yes, their connection was of the insta-love type, but it totally worked for me. I felt their connection and liked how they couldn’t stay away from each other. They definitely shared some steamy moments together and kept me glued to the pages to see how their story would play out.
Dark Alpha’s Temptation sucked me in from the very first page. I thought this book was written and paced very well. I loved all of the paranormal aspects and the world that this author has created. This story was sexy, captivating and had some really great twists. I can definitely tell that this story is leading to a pretty epic battle and I can’t wait to continue on with this series. As I previously said, I do think you could read and enjoy this book without reading any of the previous ones like I did. However, I definitely plan on catching up on the series, so that I can fully enjoy and appreciate the overall world and story.
All in all, I found Dark Alpha’s Temptation to be a really enjoyable read and I look forward to reading and discovering more from this author in the future!
I absolutely love this series. My only complaint is, the book ended way to soon. The Reaper series is a part of a much larger series in Donna Grant’s Dark World. I highly recommend this book and suggest to visit her Website to view all of the books, in the Dark World series. It is best to start at the beginning to get the full appreciation of the story line.
Just as exciting as we’ve come to expect from a Reaper’s novel. We get a little more of the puzzle in the war against the Others. I loved Kyra and Dubhan and I’m hungry for more from the Reapers!
5 stars!
Once again, Ms. Grant put out an amazing story. I did miss a couple of these Reaper novels. However, I have kept up with the ‘Kings’. I would not suggest starting the series here. However, I did not want this book to end. Dubham and Kyra are great together. So many things are falling into place. At the same time, some of them are falling apart. This read was awesome. A must have for all PNR lovers. Voluntarily I am leaving this review of an advanced copy I was lucky enough to receive.
Dark Alphas Temptation from the moment I started reading this book I could not put it down! Donna Grant’s amazingly wonderful imagination takes us on Dubhan’s search for one of their allies missing since one of the many battles.
In Dubhan’s quest he captures the attention of Kyra a beautiful light Fae determined to follow him unaware of the danger this will entail. Will Kyra succeed and come away unscathed as Reapers need to be a secret for a very good reason. What will Death do if she finds out Kyra knows about them and will Dubhan protect her?
This is book 9 in the Reapers series and will leave you on the edge of your seat to see what happens next! This amazing book intertwines our beloved Dragon Kings, Light and Dark Fae, Death plus all of our other much loved Reapers and new facts plus more unanswered questions which will continue in future books.
All I can say is Donna Grant you are an incredible Author you have nailed it again. I have laughed and also been shocked by a certain group with who is involved!! Now I am trying to put many puzzle pieces together to figure out what’s going to happen in the next book. I am giving this book 5 stars Donna Grants’s books are so easy to read and if you haven’t read her books before this one will certainly leave you wanting more. Pre order or buy now you will not be disappointed I am so looking forward to all the future novels as the series continues.
Thank you so much Donna Grant for taking out imaginations on this new adventure.
I love the Reaper books. It’s a nice addition to what is going on with the Dragon Kings. I would highly recommend you read this if you are reading the Dragon King books as this book definitely intertwines with that story. I am left with more questions then answers in this book. Another Reaper finds his perfect match. She is just what the Reapers need to look at things from a different perspective. It will be interesting to see how everything plays out.
*I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley/Author and am voluntarily leaving a review.*
Dark Temptation is the next book in the Reaper series within the Dark World universe. As much as I think you might be able to jump into this book prior to reading any of the previous books, I highly recommend that you read the books in order.
I love this series, I enjoyed every minute of reading them. However, I find it a bit difficult to get into Dark Alpha’s Temptation. I guess it’s because the main characters didn’t hold me as much as the previous couples in this series. Kyra (who is a Light Fae) is quite intriguing but she is not one of the best heroines that Donna Grant has created. I felt a bit let down by Dubhan, the Reaper as I find him a tad dull. Reapers are supposed to be like the boogeyman or all boogeyman and I love the past Reapers potrayed in this series, but I find Dubhan fell a bit short. There’s just something missing with his character, he didn’t quite scream REAPER to me.
I still highly recommend this series to all Donna Grant’s fans. I’m looking forward to the next book.
Reaper, and Dark Fae, Dubhan is on the search for a missing ally when he realises he’s being followed by someone. Kyra, a Light Fae, has been following Dubhan ever since she saw him during a battle (which she shouldn’t have been able to do). She’s not sure why she can’t seem to stay away from him…except maybe…could he be her fated mate?
Usaeil and Balladyn are dead…or are they? Things never seem to be cut and dried in the Fae and Reaper world. War continues to loom on the horizon. The Others are on the move. Could it be time for the Reapers to join with the Dragon Kings? Only time will tell….
Great addition to the Reaper series. I love Kyra and Dubhan and seeing some other familiar faces. Interesting things are happening. I cannot wait to see what’s next.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley (and the author via Bookfunnel). My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor.
Kyra has no idea why she can’t seem to stop following the Reaper. Something about him has her unable to stay away. Dubhan knows someone is following him. When he first lays eyes on her he is intrigued. So he follows her home. Something about her is fascinating and confront her he will. When the time is right. Once that initial stalling is cleared up they will discover that they work well together and their chemistry is hard to ignore. The need go keep each other safe is a constant. Their journey is no different then the other Reapers and their women, the attraction is intense, there will be an element of danger and their coming together in the end will be satisfying and well deserved. There will definitely be some tidbits and nuggets for the coming war with the Others and you will not want to miss it. Satisfying and an easy read for a Saturday evening.
Dark Alpha’s Temptation is a wonderful addition to this series. Reaper Dubhan meets his match in light Fae Kyra. She carries off lightness and good without being too perky or saccharine. She brings a much needed light to Dubhan’s life and a different point of view to their mission. I enjoyed this episode in an action filled adventure.
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
This was a great book !
Kyra is trying to find her aunt that disappeared.
She decided to follow a reaper to see if she could gain more information.
Dubham is being stalked.
What should he do with his stalker ?
Loved the characters + the storytelling !
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
3.5 stars
This is the first book in the Reaper’s series that I have read; however, I have read all of the Dragon King books and so I didn’t feel lost. I would recommend reading them all from both series in the order recommended on MS. Grant’s website for the most enjoyment. I will be going back and reading them all in order I think just to gain a clearer picture of what is happening in the overall story arc.
First, if you do not like Insta love type stories or have a hard time with soul mates I don’t think this book, or either the Kings or Reapers, are for you. This is very much a quick love story. Sometimes that leaves the characters feeling a little weak and unlikelable. I did not find either of these characters to be that way.
I found that Kyra did not develop very much throughout the story. She does prove to be competent and willing to do what is necessary. However, when we are talking about characters that are, by human standards, ancient I don’t expect rapid development. Dubhan does develop and change a little throughout the story but only in one way, which again I think is understandable.
Overall I found this to be a quick easy read that was a pleasant diversion. If you pick it up I hope you enjoy it too.
Dark Alpha’s Temptation is the 9th book in Donna Grant’s Reaper Series. The Reaper series is set in the Dragon King’s world. I love how the characters between these books series overlap and appear. Dubhan and Kyra are evenly matched. Dubhan is a Reaper and Kyra knows. Kyra is a light fae – and one of Death’s rules is death to any fae that learns of the Reapers. There are visits from Cael and Death and we learn new things about the Others. These books are always enjoyable to read and I hope the series continues along with the Dark Kings as they battle the Others.
DARK ALPHA’S TEMPTATION is the ninth instalment in Donna Grant’s REAPERS adult, paranormal/fantasy romance series. This is Reaper Dubhan, and light Fae Kyra Kavanaugh’s story line. The REAPERS is a spin off from Donna’s DARK KINGS series which is a spinoff from Donna’s DARK WARRIOR series which in turn is a spin off from Donna’s DARK SWORD series- all set in the Highlands of Scotland. You do not have to have read any of the previous series to understand the premise but many of the events overlap with the events of the Dark Kings. DARK ALPHA’S TEMPTATION can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion.
SOME BACKGROUND: The Reapers (believed to be a folk lore amongst the Fae) are a group of Dark and Light Fae, selected by Death (aka Erith), on their own deathbed, to do her bidding-Death is the judge and jury; the Reapers are the executioners. The Reapers are not harbingers of death, but are tasked with destroying the Light and Dark Fae who have crossed a line from which there is no return. All Reapers must follow two rules: never to fall in love; and never to reveal their existence to anyone.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Dubhan and Kyra) DARK ALPHA’S TEMPTATION focuses on Kyra Kavanaugh as she is inexplicably drawn to the Reaper known as Dubhan but no one should be able to see the Reapers, and in this Dubhan is a confused as Kyra when matters of the heart pull our couple together. While Dubhan continues to search for the Light Fae Xaneth, he and Kyra discover magical markings both familiar and not, a way to ward against the Fae and the Reapers. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Dubhan and Kyra, and the potential fall –out when it is discovered that the Others have infiltrated at the heart of the matter.
DARK ALPHA’S TEMPTATION is a story of betrayal and secrets; power and lies. The Reapers will quickly discover that their existence and identity have been compromised, and in this they will become targets of those hoping to destroy them all; and that death is not necessarily a thing of permanence. The premise is intriguing and compelling; the characters are energetic and powerful; the romance and attraction is undeniable and strong.
Kyra Kavanaugh is a Light Fae who has witnessed a battle between the Reapers and Dark Fae and her attention has settled on one of the Reapers, Dubhan. She thinks about him constantly and is able to follow him easily. Soon, they learn of a band of Others who are seeking power and come from both the Dark and Light Fae. This new knowledge, as well as the absence of leadership of the Dark and the Light Fae, will set up new conflicts and new alliances.
Thanks to the publisher and to NetGalley for an ARC; all opinions are my own.
I love this series on the Dragon Kings and this was a side story of the Others against the Dragon Kings that revolves around Kyra and Dubhan. Kyra saw Dubhan in a fight helping the Dragon Kings and she became obsessed with Dubhan so she makes a point of following him everywhere, but Dubhan is a Reaper who is a loner. When Dubhan confronts Kyra he realizes that she is different from most Fae he knows but he can’t put his finger on it but they agree to help each other. When Death makes an appearance to them Kyra and Dubhan find out they have a larger mystery to solve then their own. Kyra and Dubhan has that instant personality that makes you want to keep reading it also let you see what a fight with the Dragon Kings and the Others will be like.
Reviewed on behalf of Once upon an Alpha
Kyra is a Light Fae who is desperate to track down her missing aunt who has practically raised her. Determined to do whatever it takes she’s taking the unprecedented step of stalking one of the infamous Reapers ! Dubham is what many of the Fae think of as the bogeyman and when a female starts showing up repeatedly where he is he knows it’s no coincidence. The Queen of the Light is vanquished but still they cannot find her prisoner so the last thing Dubham needs is the cute Fae with ever changing appearance getting in his way but is it possible that Kyra could actually help ?
I always enjoy these stories as they give the reader hot romance set within an overall story arc that has twists galore. If you love Dragons, Fae and magic then this series is a must read. I love that the author has two series that interconnect and if you haven’t yet started her Dragon Kings books then they are definitely worth your time. This particular book focuses heavily on this couple and their romance but even then there’s a surprising twist that I hadn’t expected . As usual this is extremely easy to read and just flows so well.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
This spin off series from the Dark Kings, features Death and her Reapers as well as characters from the Dark Kings tales. It’s impossible to get the whole story by just reading one of the series. The story arc is designed to flow between the two series. If you have not read Fever, the latest Dark Kings book, you need to. Otherwise….this tale will spoil some secrets. In this book, we get to know Dubhan. (Google it and listen to the various pronunciations) He’s been the solitary one, the Reaper who never thought that love was real, much less something that he would experience. Against all odds, he is discovered, stalked and claimed by a Fae. You know the rule about the Fae finding out about Reapers! In this tale we learn about Dubhan’s past and the betrayal that lead to his death. We get a glimpse into the life and relationship between Death/Erith and Cael. We uncover a mystery regarding the U-Bitch and that epic battle from Fever. And, we discover that the Others have set their sights on a new target. This is a must read for those of you who love the world of the Dark Kings and Reapers. If you have not read Donna Grant’s magical world before, do yourself a favor, start with The Dark Sword series that began it all. Then continue to the Dark Warriors series and Dark Kings series. You will thank me!
