There is no escaping a Reaper. I am an elite assassin, part of a brotherhood that only answers to Death. And when Death says your time is up, I’m coming for you… Carrying Death’s orders is my sole duty. I’ve never had reason to question her, even if I disagreed. But Kyra’s fierceness and willpower sheds light on my mission. She drives the darkness of my world away. The answers to the Others’ … answers to the Others’ goals lie in her past. For Kyra, I will risk going against Death’s wishes. For her…I will battle the past and the future itself.

Dark Alpha’s Temptation is the 6th book in Donna Grant’s Reapers series, which also entwines with her books about the Dragon Kings. I haven’t read the first books in either of these series, but only started a few books ago. Don’t worry if this is true for you also; you’ll just love the characters, story and action here that you won’t care if you are a tad bit confused. You’ll also want to go back and see all that you missed!
Kyra is a Light Fae who learned about the Reapers when she was accidentally caught up watching them in battle. She has been looking for her beloved aunt who has been missing for about a century, and she believes a Reaper may be able to help her. She chooses Dubhan, whom she witnessed in that previous battle, as she was immediately drawn to him. She follows him around but Dubhan, no fool he, knows she is following and confronts her. Thus begins a hot romance and Kyra’s introduction to the world of the Reapers.
I won’t go into a longer description of the plot, as I’ll probably just confuse you. This story was centered around the romance of Kyra and Dubhan more than it was about the probable upcoming war against the Others. And it works fine as just a romance. There is sort of an insta-love here, but that is actually explained and makes sense. The romance between these two is very hot and steamy, but also very sweet. It’s not all sweetness and light, though…there’s a surprise near the end that I did not see coming! I can’t wait to read more about Ms. Grant’s Reapers and Dragon Kings. You are guaranteed a thrill ride in every book.
I received an ARC of this book courtesy of the publisher and NetGalley. I received no compensation for my review, and all thoughts and opinions expressed are entirely my own.
An Assassin must change orders to save Kyra. Part of the Reaper world brings a tale of romance with paranormal.
Ebook from Netgalley and publishers with thanks . Opinions are entirely my own.
There are some books you can skim over and then there are some you can not. Do not skim this book. The author gives the reader so much information in this book that I read it twice just incase I missed something.
The Others, okay at least some, will stop at nothing to rule over Earth. But what happened in Dark Alpha’s Temptation had my expressing expletives. Lots and lots of colorful language to go with a very colorful story.
Kyra is so much more than she knows she is. Her life is not what she thought. She has been stalking a Reaper, Dubham. It shouldn’t be possible. Even more impressive is he doesn’t always know it. Magic has brought them together. Will it break them apart?
They are on a quest to discover, but what will they find.
I was given this book for review.
I was so excited to read this book. Wanting to learn more about the Reapers and what would happen next.
This book gave us the Reaper Dubhan. He had always known what was excepted of him as a Reaper. He was always will do do whatever Death expected of him. He never thought of love and what it would be like. He watched other Reapers including Death find their other half. It was until he felt someone or something watching him and turned the table and followed her. Kyra is her name and she always wanted and did live life on her terms. She had done something no one else was able to do.. see something and know something no one was allowed to see or do. It caused her to be intrigued with a Reaper she saw so she just thought of him and was able to find him. At first she didn’t know his name or way she wanted to know him better but she was going to let that stop her from getting to know him better. Once Dubhan and Kyra finally met and realized they were meant to be together they didn’t question it, they just let it take them to where they were meant to be… together. What will the future hold for them as individuals and as a couple, only time with tell. Will The Others Scott e between them or will they bring them closer together?
Kyra is a strong Fae with more magic abilities then she can imagine. She is a straight forward Fae who has the ability to make a situation easier to understand by looking it from all angles coming up with the best way to solve the problem or get others to understand it better. She isn’t afraid to say what she thinks even if it could get her killed. Dubhan is a Reaper who like all others who were betrayed. He was a Dark Fae but only did what he was expected to do for his family.Kyra teaches him. That your past is what makes you what and who you are today.
I love all of Donna Grants stories but the Reapers are my favorites. This story is like no other. This story focuses more on the couple and their relationship and their families involvement with The Others. It also shows that one is going to be left out of the battle that is coming. If you have t read the rest of the series I would not read this one first. I love how her characters developed and how the story went. Wish it was longer though but I would recommend this book to anyone. I cannot wait until the next story. Let the epic battle begin.
Immediately I was drawn to Dubhan and Kyra. They were both interesting and had either quirks or traits that were unique of all the characters I’d yet met and what brought them together was also very unique. Not many of the Reapers struggle too hard or too long with their attraction and affection. I actually prefer when they use their millennia of experience to see that what they’re experiencing is singular and extraordinary and therefore don’t shunt it to the side or deny it. There are reasons for delaying and often a process to reconcile their past betrayals with their current situations, but when it hijacks the story I’m not a fan. That doesn’t happen here beyond the one side character they have in common.
Kyra’s honesty was refreshing. It took a little while for all her secrets to be revealed, but her openness with her thoughts and feelings was endearing. I’m in love with her. Her insight and resolute adherence to speaking what truths and opinions she had was an incredible strength and boon to all involved in the war. For her to get Erith to see beyond her seemingly narrow view of her duty and involvement was an amazing feat that I longed to see. I was so glad Kyra was the one to shed essential light on the truth so oft overlooked by Death.
Dubhan’s past was painful, of course, but I think I would have liked a little more detail about it. When he was telling his story it felt like he was telling someone else’s story and the connection wasn’t as visceral as it could have been. There was more feeling when discussing Max than his own family’s betrayal. His family’s involvement in the overall enemy’s plans could have been a bit more detailed as well, but I was satisfied that we got what we got.
This is kind of a standalone, but we’re to the point in the related series, Dark Kings, that it’s really best to have read either the full Dark World books or at the very least, the Reapers’ stories. There are too many hints, implications, questions, and consequences being brought to the fore here in this story that I couldn’t recommend it as a standalone romance. As a part of a series and a world, this is one of my favorite!
Donna Grant delivered big time with this book !
This author never ceases to amaze me with her fabulous and complex storytelling. This book follows the romance of Cathal and Kyra while revealing quite a few interesting twists and opening up the possibility of an all out war between the many factions populating this magical series. As usual, Donna Grant outdid herself on the character development and plot twists. Cathal and Kyra were awesome ! Cathal had suffered a truly shocking betrayal and all through the story he kept thinking that he was tainted by his dark past. Kyra was a kickarse heroine who’s had a lot of secrets being witheld from her. Of course they were revealed in the end which forced Kyra to make some important choices about her future. I was enthralled as the revelations kept coming nonstop and left me wondering about what this master storyteller has in store for the readers next.
I couldn’t get enough of this story, and like always, I can’t wait for the next book !
I was gifted a complimentary publisher’s copy for review.
I was excited to read Dark Alpha’s Temptation. The promise of finally getting some knowledge of who the Others are and what their agenda excited me the most. I won’t lie and say that Dark Alpha’s Temptation delivers on that promise. Instead, what it does, is add to the mystery of who the Others are.
Dark Alpha’s Temptation was a filler book. There was no progression of the Reaper storyline. Don’t get me wrong; I loved the book. It’s just that I wish the storyline progressed a little more.
The plotline of Dark Alpha’s Temptation was lightning fast. As with most fast-paced books, there was some lag in the plotline. I didn’t mind it because once the author got over the lag, the book shot along.
Kyra and Dubham’s relationship was sexually charged right from the beginning. Some serious sparks were coming off the pages. When they finally did have sex, I thought my Kindle was going to combust spontaneously. It was that good.
I liked Kyra. I wanted to know why she was so focused on Dubham. There was a twist in her plotline that I didn’t see coming. I felt terrible for her.
Dubham was your typical strong but silent type. He was suspicious of Kyra but so attracted to her. His backstory was awful to read, and how he died was even more appalling. I can’t even begin to imagine what that was like for him.
I wanted to know where Rhi went, as did everyone else. There was a colossal complication with that storyline that made me go “Hmmmm.“
Like I mentioned above, the storyline with the Others got more mysterious. What was revealed at the end of the book surprised me. I want to know what their end game is!!!
The end of Dark Alpha’s Temptation was exciting. I have a feeling that the main characters in the next book were revealed. I also am looking forward to seeing what the Others are going to bring to everyone in this universe.
Kyra is one of the fae and looking for her aunt. She is stalking Dubhan, a Reaper for this purpose. The two are fiery and an interesting couple. The Dragon Kings will soon be more involved in this series. There are twists and turns in this short story.
I received a copy of this book via Netgalley and am leaving a review.
I absolutely love this series!! This was a fantastic addition, and while not as action packed as past novels, it really set the scene for the future stories. I love the suspense that is building up to the final book and cant wait for the explosive action to come! Thank you for a spectacular read!
In this book, another raper finds its soulmate. Dubhan the previous dark fae finds that light fae Kyra is following him for a long time and knows about reapers. Dubhan and Kyra start a new adventure in which they find a few interesting unknown facts about the Other, feelings about each other and unexpected facts from their families. I loved the book, the story is yet again great written. Both Dubhan and Kyra are well developed and their love story develops beautifully and at the right pace. I loved that the story has more than one unpredictable twist and patiently waiting for the next one.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley
This is ninth book in the ‘Reaper’ series. I find this series and others from author Donna Grant’s Dark World to be kind of like, fill-in-the-blanks to the big story, but not necessary to read them all. If you like reading one series at a time you can with no problem.
I like our heroine Kyra, she’s a light Fae who just happens to be able to follow around a Reaper which could be a death sentence for her. She just can’t seem to get her mind off the dark Fae/Reaper. She is hoping the Reaper can answer some questions she has about her beloved aunt who has gone missing, but she finds herself wanting to help him and his quest to find a light Fae that is missing. All they seem to find is trouble in the form of a past symbol on a door. This book didn’t have as much action as the others in the series but I found it to still be a page turner.
One of the things I like about this book, is that it answered some questions I had when reading a book to the ‘Dark King’ series, like a puzzle piece falling into place. The other thing that I like in this story is you get more information on the “Others”, so if you have questions about them this book will help enlighten you some. I highly recommend this book and any of the other books from the ‘Dark World’, I’m looking forward to see how this story ends!
***I voluntarily reviewed this ARC for an honest review via NetGalley, this is my honest opinion and has not been influenced by the author, Publishers or NetGalley in anyway.*** Thank you!
Loved It!! Reaper Dubhan, and light Fae Kyra Kavanaugh are dynamic and the story is well written and delivered. A great addition to the Reaper series, I highly recommend you add this to your collection.
This is a much beloved fantasy series of Light and Dark Fae, Dragon Kings, Reapers and now the Others. Dubhan and Kyra are two strong leads. Their story is so well fleshed out you connect with them and care when they have to see the truth of their heritage.
This is a story that can be read as a stand alone without you getting lost but then go back and enjoy the series. It will end with you wanting more.
I was given an ARC of this book by Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Highly entertaining, emotionally thrilling, action packed adventure filled with magical and intriguing charters, witty banter, heart racing twists and undeniable passion that was hard to put down…… really enjoyed this journey! Exciting series that gets better with each new adventure, loved it!
Loved reading the fabulous and fantastic paranormal story. When Reaper Dubhan discovers someone is following him, he finds out she is a beautiful woman and Fae, Kyla. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a must read love story.
Dark Alpha’s Temptation is the next story in the Dragon King’s overall story line though technically a Reaper novel. More of a love at first sight story with significantly less action, the story is hot and sweet. Kyra learns that Reapers are real and not just legend when stumbling on them in the midst of battle. All Reapers are impressive but the sexy Dubhan keeps occupying her mind. A little stalking later leads to meeting that leads to danger and a super sexy and sweet love story with some unexpected truths uncovered. New information about the Others emerges in this novel but not as much battling with them as in past Dragon King novels. A sweet and sexy love story in the Dragon King’s world, the book is an easy, fast paced good feeling inducing time. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.
Dark Alpha’s Temptation by Donna Grant is book 9 in the Reaper Series. This is the story of Kyra and Dubham. I have read the previous books which I do feel you should do this to fully enjoy and understand the ongoing story line. Dubhan is a Reaper who is on a mission to locate Xaneth but he is finding that someone maybe following him. Kyra is a Light Fae who is out to find her missing aunt who was the one to take care of her. Kyra starts to watch Dubhan who is a reaper but she finds she is attracted to him. Dubha comes face to face with Kyra which starts him being more and more taken with her. I have so enjoyed this series. For me it is a page turner series.
This is Book 9 in the Reapers series. We meet Kyra and Dubhan in this book. Kyra is a light fae and has been following Dubhan. She’s fascinated with him but also thinks he knows what happened to her aunt. Dubhan has been sent by Death o find Xaneth. What happens between the two when they meet is fantastic and a lot of fun. We find out more answers in this book, but it still leaves a lot of questions to be answered in later books. They are both strong people who add so much character and fun to the Reaper books. I highly recommend the Reapers if you enjoy having your loyalty tested and some really good romance. There’s a lot going on in here, so you won’t be bored.
I’m going to be clear up front — I jumped into this series somewhere in the middle, so my thoughts may be from a different perspective than those faithful readers that started with book 1. That being said, it hasn’t made a huge difference to me that I didn’t read the entire series. While the book works better if you know all of the history and backstory from book one, it’s really the romance that keeps bringing me back to this world of dragon kings and reapers.
This book features Kyra, a Light Fae who’s job it is to track down her loved missing family member. She’s going to use reaper Dubham to help her in her quest. When they have an instant spark together, there’s little mystery to how it will turn out, although there’s guaranteed to be some twists and turns for both of these characters.
There’s a lot going on in this world and things are building to a conclusion (aka battle) that I’m eager to read. This book felt a little like a transition book helping to stoke the excitement for a great fight. There’s tremendous paranormal world building in the Reapers and Dragon Kings series, but if that isn’t your thing — you can just enjoy the romance. I do.
So overall, another satisfying romantic story set in this world that Donna Grant has created
Kyra finds herself drawn to a reaper. His name is Dubhan and he serves death, but he feels lighter when Kyra is near. How is she able to track him? Kyra is a Fae. She’s spent years searching for her favorite Aunt. Eva has disappeared without a trace. Is she dead? I liked Kyra. She’s a strong person with an unusual talent. I was amazed by her strong bond with Dubhan. I knew that they were meant to be together. I wanted them to find the answers they need to prevent bloodshed. The suspense continues to build as they seek answers. These two Are formidable. Someone with enormous power is playing games. The twists and turns kept me guessing. I wasn’t sure what would happen next. Donna Grant has written a thriller that I couldn’t put down. I loved the characters and was amazed at the complex story. The unexpected twists shocked me. I knew that the Reapers were a force to be reckoned with, but I never saw this coming.
I received a copy of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed. My comments are my honest opinion.
