There is no escaping a Reaper. I am an elite assassin, part of a brotherhood that only answers to Death. And when Death says your time is up, I’m coming for you… My duty to Death drives me forward. I’ve never once strayed from my path – not even when the future seemed uncertain. However, Maeve’s intelligence, cunning and determination challenges me in ways I never imagined. Finding out what … Finding out what she knows is the key to learning how to conquer our enemy. The Dark Fae breathes new life into me unlike anything I’ve ever known. For Maeve, I will risk trusting the Dark. For her…I will battle darkness itself.

Bradach is sent on a mission that he really doesn’t want — he’s to infiltrate the Dark Fae on a mission to find one of the missing. I’ll be honest, the details of the mission isn’t what pulled me into the story. It was Maeve, the Dark Fae that Bradach falls for. Even though he hates the Dark Fae, he’s entranced with Maeve and for good reason — she kicks butt in a major way. I love strong heroines, and Maeve definitely fits the bill.
This was my first Reapers story, but I have read a few of the Dragon King series, so I wasn’t completely lost with the story. This is a big universe and there are many characters, so I will warn that while you can read this as a standalone and totally enjoy the romance part of the story like I did, you would probably enjoy more about the characters if you read the previous books.
There’s some great action in Dark Alpha’s Redemption, along with the romance, so if that’s your thing, you might like this story. I did. Things are building to a big showdown and I just can’t wait!
An ARC was provided for review.
This story keeps you on your toes.
The battles are still on, and Bradach must handle things.
He isn’t sure why they are testing his will however he is ready for the challenge.
Until…
Maeve is strong, determined and for the first time wants someone to trust her, in her.
The magic that sizzles between these two is off the charts, they have chemistry immediately but it takes a bit of work to bring it all together. For true love can build and rebuild feelings long forgotten. And makes one realize that maybe just maybe not all rumors are true.
Fantastic story.
Dark Alpha’s Redemption is the continuing saga set in Donna Grant’s Dark World. This far into the series, I highly suggest reading all preceding novels. At this point, several characters are crossing over, and although previous plot points get abridged when relevant, a lot is going on.
As always, the overall story-line surrounds a couple finding love. Maeve and Bradach begin as wary associates on the hunt for a missing fae. The two have great chemistry, and the discovery of their feelings for each other feels natural.
In Dark Alpha’s Redemption, a stronger comparison continues to unravel regarding the dark and light fae. It is becoming more apparent that the heart of the being is what matters, not their title or where they reside. Seeing them as both make them more relatable, and it also gives a better sense of what they need is a leader who can be both. I have my guesses/hopes on who could fill this role, but we are getting closer to that revelation.
DARK ALPHA’S REDEMPTION by Donna Grant is book 8 in the Reaper Series. This is the story of Bradach and Maeve. I have read the previous books which helps with the underlining story that is being touched upon each move that moves us closer to the end results. But story line between these two I felt you could make it a standalone book if that is what you wish to do.
Bradach was to help some of the Dark Faes but he came in with the mind set that they were not trustworthy and with a mindset of prejudiced I thought. But that started to change when he meets Maeve. This series has been a really exciting quick reads..love the books.
This was so good! I love this series and this author. I love the storyline and the hero is hot as heck! I loved him! This was a quick read but so much fun. Lots of action and thrills. Perfect to while away the summer day! I highly recommend it.
I’ve been following the Reaper series, and although this could be read as a stand-alone it is more fun and makes more sense with a little background.
The star of this book, in my opinion, is Maeve. She is smart, business savvy, and a survivor. After her father was murdered, she took over the family business and has survived numerous attempts on her life. She has also built walls around herself and only has one friend who she has known since childhood.
Bradach is a reaper and is given the task of finding Xaneth, a Light Fae who has been abducted by the Queen of the Light Fae. He dislikes the Dark Fae, but in this case he needs to go to the King of the Dark Fae to ask for help, who in turns sends him to Maeve. Even with his dislike of Dark Fae, he is attracted to Maeve and it bothers him.
I enjoyed the back and forth between Bradach and Maeve, both not used to trusting others and both very strong, independent people. And I really liked that the story focused on these two characters because so much was going on between the two that really made the story special to me. Plus we had a little of the Dragon Kings (always fun)
I received an ARC from NetGalley and this is my honest review.
This a well written story that I immensely enjoyed. Bradach and Maeve appear to be total opposites. As the book evolves the differences disappear. Maeve is such a strong character but betrayal shakes her up. Being a fighter she recovers and goes in for the kill. Great characters with an unusual plot makes this a must read. I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. I freely leave this honest review.
In the realm of paranormal the reaper comes in different ways but always associated with death. They make for interesting reading so I had to get into this one to see what this reaper would be like.
In this one we get to see a different side along with their story that carries us along. Bradach will get to be twisted after he meets Maeve. The chemistry will snap, crackle and pop along with giving us a smirk. The pace is quick giving us a filling one though.
Do not go into this though with assumptions especially if have read others before because this is about the Reaper and carves out for a minute their story. Ready for more from this author.
Dark Alpha’s Redemption is the 8th book in Donna Grant’s Reaper series, which is also connected with her Dragon Kings series. Though reading the previous books is not a prerequisite for following the story, it will give you a little more clarity understanding past events. But in no way will your enjoyment be ruined if you haven’t read them yet.
Bradach is a Reaper who is assigned by Death to locate a prisoner of the evil Queen of the Light Fae. He is to seek the help of Maeve the Merciless (I want a cool name like that!) in his quest. Maeve is a Dark Fae, and Bradach HATES the Dark Fae. As they work together, their initial attraction ignites. Will Bradach be able to get over his hatred of the Dark and find love?
I really enjoyed both main characters. They each had difficult pasts to overcome before they could move forward. Their chemistry was quite steamy and rather sweet. I really enjoyed the appearance of fellow Reapers, the creepy Trackers, Dragon Kings and the King of the Dark Fae. This novella-length read will leave you wanting more of these fun characters.
I received an ARC of this book courtesy of the publisher and NetGalley. I received no compensation for my review, and all thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.
Dark Alpha’s Redemption by Donna Grant
Reapers #8
In this ongoing paranormal saga created by Donna Grant Bradach, a Reaper in the second group of Reapers is set a task. He is to find Xaneth, a royal fae who disappeared in battle. He is to approach Maeve, a dark fae, to get information that might lead to Xaneth’s location. There is instant attraction between Bradach and Maeve that is not acted upon till later in the story. There is plenty of action and skulduggery with good and evil pitted against one another. We glimpse some of the characters from the past books, too.
Having read all of the Reapers series, a few of the books with dragons and not many of the others I have managed to piece together a fair understanding of what is going on and know that eventually there will be an ultimate showdown that will involve many groups (dragons, druids, fae, druids and perhaps others) to set the world aright. I am eager to find out how that will happen and who some of the main characters will end up with that have not found their mates.
I have no idea how many more books are plotted before the end of this series but am eager to find out how it will all work out in the end. That said, I did find myself thinking…how much longer will this continue, when WILL it end and how many more of these books am I willing to read to find out?
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Paperbacks for the ARC – This is my honest review.
