I have started reading a book and listening when I don’t have tome to sit down. The drama exploded with the narration. The audio took a suspenseful thriller and made it a complete nail biter.
Cat has lost her siblings thanks to Bran. He wants her for something, but what? Whatever it is, he wants it badly and will restore to terrible threats to get it. Too bad for him that Cat is the smart one. She figures somethings out and she won’t let him foul her.
Bran isn’t her only problem. Fintan is watching over her. The man has no emotions, no compassion. When his walls start to crack he disappears. How can one rely on someone like that? How do you love someone that doesn’t want your love? Their romance is overflowing with tension.
A great read but an even better listen.
Cat and Fintan took me by surprise! Cat with her abilities and Fintan with his past. Fintan has been the broody loner for the last few books and watching him come out of his self imposed emotional exile was a great treat! This story started out slower than the previous entries, but made up for that with a big leap in plot progression with Bran and Death. I’m really enjoying this series!
Absolutely loved this book, I have wanted Fintin’s HEA since the Reapers were introduced into the Dark World. He may have done much Evil but he knew no other way until Death made him a Reaper and gave him a family. He loves deeply but hides it behind all his pain and then shuts down..Cat is the female lead and she is a powerful halfling who falls for Fintin when she first sees his true self. Their love is a slow burn, but the chemistry between them is explosive. I felt for Fintin, his character has endured so much betrayal first his parents and then from his Dark King.
This story gives us more information about how Bran, Death and the Reapers are connected. I hope the Reapers get Bran soon and I hope Death will show herself to Rhi. Overall another hit for Grant in her Dark World. Happy Reading!!
Fintan is the most stoic of all the Reapers. His life before becoming a Reaper was filled with blood and death and loyalty, until betrayal took his life and his willingness to feel. With a heart locked and sealed from feeling anything other than loyalty to Death and the other Reapers, he carries out his duty and nothing more. Until Catriona. Her family has drawn the Fae for generations and their bloodline has been imbued with powers beyond any other Halfling has ever exhibited. Cat is sure she is the only one that has ever been skipped and yet Bran pursues her relentlessly. With her growing feelings for Fintan and Fintan’s slowly-thawing heart they might uncover the mystery behind why Bran needs her. But along the way she’ll lose something dear to her and only her wit and inner strength will be able to save the love she never expected.
I was greatly anticipating Fintan’s story and was surprised by the softness, tenderness, and vulnerability that marked his tale. I expected something darker but was immensely pleased with his story. The connection between Fintan and Cat was a little flat but I liked where it ended up because it was a relationship that grew a little slower and with a lot more heartache in various forms. As for the drama surrounding the Reapers, each new plot from their enemy provides a little more insight into his purpose as well as Death’s struggles. Cat’s quick thinking was impressive and she made for a great addition to the Reaper’s family. I’d like to see more of them, even on the periphery of the other Reapers’ stories because I don’t think they’ve fully achieved their potential as mates yet. Overall this was a little different from what I expected though I was pretty happy with where we ended.
The quiet and emotionless Fintan finally finds something to care about!
Catriona is a half-fae who knows about her heritage. She knows that she is next to die because her two siblings have already been killed by the Dark. Fintan steps in and decides to use her as bait to catch Bran. Along the way, Cat makes Fintan start to feel again. She sees past his hair and eyes and knows he is a good person inside. This revelation tears down the walls Fintan hides behind and makes him admit that he actually cares for her.
I really liked this one. I have wanted to know about Fintan from the beginning and it did not disappoint. I loved the romance between these two. They were perfect for healing each other.
I can’t wait to see what is going on with Eoghan.
Fourth reaper to fall in love is the unlikely emotionless dark fae. As if fated, his heart open for another halfling. The plot thickens on the story of Death. Some heat, a dose of romance and a lot of action. Fairly enjoyable.
