She’s searching for her knight in shining armour.
I’m convinced the stars don’t have a say in matters of the heart.
Finlay Jensen
My reputation as a ladies man has worked well for me, both personally and professionally, until I’m punished with an entertainment piece. After almost getting arrested while working on my last story, my editor is forcing me to write up a piece on the biggest talent … biggest talent in modern dance, Amelie Winters.
Watching her twirl around the studio is enchanting. This gorgeous, tiny creature captures my attention without even trying. I quickly realise she’s my complete opposite, yet it only makes me want her more. She’s shy, inexperienced, a hopeless romantic…so wrong for a man like me.
But there’s a fire in her eyes when she looks at me that I can’t ignore.
Can her obsession with the stars have any truth to it? Is it fate that has me fascinated by someone so wrong for me?
Perhaps your horoscope does decide your fate in love.

Daring to Love!
Finlay is an investigative reporter who is being punished by his boss. He’s been assigned to do a report about a ballet dancer Amelie! A fluff piece in his opinion. Amelie is a shy, private young woman who lives for dance. And she finds herself getting discombobulated around any male she has an attraction. As such, she has never had a real relationship with anyone, and she’s fine with that, as she lives for ballet and has no time for a relationship! Finlay was thinking he could do a quick story about the young dancer and get his punishment over with, until he saw her dance and was instantly drawn to her. Amelie is a beautiful dancer, and her passion and love of dance shines through.
This was a well written book. Fast paced, a fated love and a bit of mystery! I haven’t read any previous books by Karen Ferry, and I missed out! I will be reading her books in the future!
I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily reviewing it. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and given freely.
Karen Ferry is a new author for me. I was definitely not disappointed. This will not be the last book I read by her. I loved this Written in the Stars (Daring to Love) book. Finlay and Amelie had great chemistry together. It gave me all the feels. I can’t wait to read another book by Karen!!!
My first book by Karen Ferry and it was amazing. I will be reading more from her.
Awesome book loving the written in the stars series.
This was a good book. I enjoyed it from start to finish. The storyline, the writing and characters are well developed and on point. I will read more from this author.
I voluntarily read this as an advanced readers copy.
It was a very good read, the author is new to me so I really didn’t know what to expect, but I really liked it and the couple Finlay and Amelie were pretty good.
Daring to Love by Karen Ferry is the third book in the Written in the Stars Series. This series is 12 zodiac signs, 12 authors, and 12 sexy, deeply romantic novellas. Ferry’s book is the zodiac sign, Aries.
Daring to Love follows the story of Amelie and Finley. Amelie is a dancer. Finley is an investigative journalist tasked with writing a socialite piece on Amelie. The chemistry is instant but makes Amelie flee and Finley feels it but writes her off as just part of the job. Will these two be able to stand by and let their chemistry fizzle away or will there desire burn through and grab hold. This story was the first I have read by Karen Ferry. It was very well written and a good storyline. I would recommend it for a quick steamy read!
Daring to Love was a great read! The characters and storyline evolve quickly but not without intensity. I loved the chemistry between the 2 characters. However this story was not without it’s twist! Loved it!
Seriously!! What is this author trying to do to me?!
Repeat after me, unrealistic expectations.
*wails*
First came Daniel – Talk nerdy to me!
Then came Garrett – I’m a fool for that man!
*sigh*
Then came the one I waited (impatiently) for, Kristian – my man (end of)!
Then we had Alex who showed us that love can heal – *sniffs* I’m gonna go… tears imminent! *blows out breath*
Then Ethan swept in last year – one word: accent! *swoon*
And, now we are treated to the delights of Finlay Jensen. A big *winks*, growly Scotsman with a tender heart which comes as a surprise even to him *snorts*. Slightly in love? *shrugs* Yeah, you could say that.
I don’t know about you, but my concentration has been shot to pieces in recent weeks, so reading has been problematic to say the least. However, I devoured DTL in one sitting. I was swept away with Amelie and Finlay’s story.
Take one hard-nosed investigative reporter tasked with interviewing a shy talented dancer and what do you get? A slightly angsty, magical, utterly romantic, über hot and satisfyingly heartwarming read that leaves you with smile on your face and your hormones having a bit of a rumble (or is that just me? *snorts*).
Honestly, I’m amazed at how much was packed into the novella. Steady! No need to lower the tone there, peeps. Sheesh, I was referring to the storyline. Obvs! *rolls eyes*
Don’t look at me like that, I’m an angel.
Harrumph…
Shut. It.
Now, where was I?
Ah, yes.
I know one thing, whether you believe in your horoscope or not, DTL will make you believe in the power of love.
Ugh! Who am I and what have I done with the real Laura? I blame the author, I really do!
Book 3 in the Written in the Stars series and the second book that I have read. This is the first book that I have read from this author and I loved it. Finlay and Amelie were so good together. Loved their chemistry and attraction. A sorta instant love romance at its finest. Love quick reads that keep you rooting for the couple and falling in love with the story and the characters as they fall in love. Can’t wait to read more of this series and this author.
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Daring to Love by Karen Ferry was the first Karen Ferry tale I have read. I quite enjoyed it and will seek her books out in the future. Daring to Love is a short storie from the Written in the Stars Anthology about a dancer named Amelie and a reporter, Fin, who is forced to write a puff piece about her. I wasn’t a fan of Fin at the beginning, but by the end, I was hoping for Amelie and Fin’s HEA. Amelie is quite likeable and for a short story had a lot of depth to her character. I liked the recurring mystery woman as a subtle week to fate. I also liked the Amelie was a virgo and that is shown in different ways through the story.
Overall, I would recommend this short tale and I am definitely going to see what else Karen Ferry has for me to read.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Daring to Love. Karen Ferry and the Written in the Stars series are both new to me, but I wasn’t disappointed. This was such a sweet, albeit short, read. I enjoyed Finlay and Amelie’s story. They were a sweet couple. My problem with short stories is that they’re too short! I wanted more of these two! I’m glad to have found a new author, I’m definitely going to read more of her books!
This is the third book in the Written in the Stars series and the first I have read by the author. Amelie is a dancer who is being told by her father to sit for an interview that she does not want to give. Finley is the investigative journalist assigned to get Amelie’s story but he has no interest in writing a piece about what he considers society fluff. However, due to some work-related issues, he does not have a choice in the matter. When Finley first meets Amelie, there is something about her that calls to him and it sets him off on chasing this story. Will Amelie let Finley in and trust her with her secrets? This is one storyline that has some sweet parts as the relationship builds between the two along with others that seem to be a little tough to get through. I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book.
I have been excited to see how these astrological books will turn out. I really enjoyed reading about Fin and Amelie.
Fin is a journalist with an unwanted task to write an entertainment piece on mystery girl Amelie. They have an immediate connection and sizzling chemistry.
While I thought the “first time” seemed a little too magical (my first time was definitely not that enjyable) it was definitely HOT!
Entertaining read and it has made me curious to read more from the author.
Daring to Love was perfect. It had some drama, some love, more drama and more love and in the end a Happy ever after! I loved it and Finlay and Amelie love story is the perfect for an Aries for the Written in the stars #3 book. Only wish I could have more!
Finlay Jensen is a hard-hitting reporter assigned to do a ‘fluff’ entertainment piece, and he’s not happy about it. He gets in trouble during his last assignment, and his boss expresses his displeasure via this piece. He needs to get the scoop on a wonderful ballet dancer named Amelie Winters. Amelie’s entire existence revolves around dance; thus, she gets unnerved around men. She’s never had a serious relationship, but that’s been ok so far. She’s also intensely private. Finlay wants to get this assignment over with quickly until he sees her dance. She comes alive while dancing. Her love and passion for dance shines through in each of her moves, which draws him in and ignites his curiosity.
This is a quick read, but don’t let that mislead you into believing that these protagonists are shallowly rendered. No, these characters are fully-realized; the pacing is even; and the story unfolds rapidly. Something unexpected and jarring happens toward the end of this story that seems to come out of left field with minimal setup. It left this reader with more questions than answers. Other than that, this story has a lot to recommend it—especially the ending! Well done!
I liked how the 2 main characters were opposite. She was a little shy while he was not. But they were both fierce in their careers, having something to prove. The connection wasn’t quite instant, but quick. Was it because of the stars? They both had stories to tell and secrets to keep which made it interesting. But what happens when love gets in the way of your career?
I couldn’t put it down. I’ve benn captivated by Finlay and Amelie’s story, giving a chance at love without beating around the bush. I had my reservations about Finlay and his player ways in the beginning but he won me over. Amelie was just his match and she kept him on his toes.
When these two met, I felt this powerful connection and it melted my heart on the spot. This heartwarming feeling, like something magical just happened right here, like time has stopped and captured this meet-cute but nonetheless emotionally charged moment.
Finlay and Amelie were definitely one my favorite couple I’ve read about. Passionate about their work, hard-headed but somehow found love almost at first sight. There was a contrast between their lifestyles and their conception of love and it was great to see how they acted on it.
They made me swoon a lot, smile so many times I lost count. I adored how the secretive woman and the journalist met in the middle and gave a chance at love. Their chemistry was off the charts, the banter intense and exquisite, and I appreciated how the main characters could express their feelings and thoughts in a straightforward way.
Usually, the length of the story could make it difficult to write about such kind of powerful chemistry but the author explored beautifully the instant connection, a bit over the top at times, sweet and sincere, all wrapped up in a steamy and sexy package.
Investigative Reporter Finlay has a story to write. Not a story that he would normally write. But fate has something in story for him when it comes to the person he is writing about. Amelie Winters is not your average girl. She is a dancer that will blow you away when she dances. But she is hiding a secret that could change her world. She meets Finlay and sparks fly between these two. Chemistry is off the charts hot and nothing will stop these two from seeing what is between them. Until her secret is put out there. Will Amelie be able to forgive him and be able to trust him again? Will these two believe in fate? I loved this one. It was so well written and blew me away. It was a fast paced very enjoyable read.
What happens when you get shall we say a lady’s man journalist by the name of Finley. He’s to do a piece on ballet dancer Amelie. But she isn’t having it. This was one short and sweet story. Will the stars align for these two.
