There’s something about a Dare that goes straight to the heart. Yummy heroes, fierce heroines and intriguing scenarios prove to be a heady experience. No author can tempt, frustrate and still leave you wanting more. Damon and Evie are fiery proof of the addiction that is Carly Phillips. Right at the start emotions come out swinging. Scandal is the name of the game, but attraction scores a touchdown for this fiery duo. Who will be the winner in this battle of hearts? Why the reader of course.
The Dares just keep growing and growing and I’m okay with that. Each new book is just as fun and steamy as the last. This was a quick read that had a slow burn with some mystery and suspense. It was intriguing and romantic and I loved every minute of it. Carly Phillips is a go to author and never lets me down with a great story to keep me entertained from beginning to end.
DARE TO TEMPT is the second instalment in Carly Phillips’ contemporary, adult DARE NATION erotic, romance series, a spin off from the author’s DARE TO LOVE series. This is professional quarterback Damon Prescott, and PI Evie Wolfe’s story line. DARE TO TEMPT can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalment is revealed where necessary. You do not have to have read the previous series to understand or follow the current timeline but like the original series, there is a back story involving the Dare family, and by extension the Prescott family. Evie Wolfe is Quinn Stone’s best friend (Dare to Resist #1).
Told from dual third person perspectives (Damon and Evie) following two paths, DARE TO TEMPT follows in the aftermath of a sport related injury, and a positive doping test for our story line hero. Believing he is innocent of the charges, team owner Ian Dare, hires private investigator Evie Wolfe, a woman who stirs something deep within our story line hero. In an effort to get close to potential witnesses or the guilty party, Evie must go undercover at Damon’s girlfriend, an act that will become all to real for our couple but all is not well in Evie’s life as her past is determined to destroy our story line heroine. What ensues is the building but fake relationship between Evie and Damon, and the potential fall-out as as their time together comes to a close with the discovery of the person responsible for setting Damon up to take a fall.
Evie Wolfe struggles with issues of trust in the face of an assault by her former boyfriend. Determined to get revenge Evie’s ex boyfriend takes aim at our story line heroine . Damon Prescott’s was riding the high of his all-star career when a concussion sidelined him for an indeterminate amount of time but Damon never expected to be tested, or test positive for a banned substance. Desperate to prove his innocence, Damon agrees to work alongside PI Evie Wolfe, the woman with whom Damon will fall in love. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate and hot.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and familiar secondary and supporting characters including Ian and Riley Dare (Dare to Love #1), Alex and Madison Dare (Dare to Desire #2) : Damon’s siblings-baseball player Jaxon, sister Bri, Austin and Quinn (Dare to Resist) as well as their mother Christine, and their biological father Paul Dare. We are introduced to Evie’s large extended family of siblings including police detective Mack Wolfe,Deke, Lucas and Josh, and their parents Sunny and Gary Wolfe, as well as back up quarterback Greg Emerson.
DARE TO TEMPT is a story of family, friendships, betrayal and obsession. The premise is engaging and captivating; the romance is seductive; the characters are numerous, energetic and charismatic. DARE TO TEMPT is a welcome addition to the Dare Nation series.
I love the Dare books! You will not be able to put down this Dare book of Evie and Damon’s emotionally charged story!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Damon and Evie are stupendous together!
Damon has an issue and Evie is just the PI to help out. Loved watching these two get closer.
Great story and can’t wait to see the next one fall!
Damon Prescott’s life was about as close to perfect as it could be, then one little mishap and suddenly everything was turned upside down… with the help of someone who wanted to see him fail of course. He doesn’t know who has it out for him, or why they would do the things that they did, but he wants to get to the bottom of it.
That’s where sexy private investigator, Evie Wolfe comes in. His family promises she will be able to find the culprit and make everything in his life right again. But after spending a little time with her he starts to realize that her coming into his life was the best thing that could of happened, and he wants her stick around after the case is closed… but convincing her of that fact might be a little harder than he anticipated.
Between the pages of Dare to Tempt readers will meet a couple that looks all wrong on paper, but they prove that opposites definitely do attract. Evie knows she doesn’t necessarily fit into Damon’s glitzy and glamorous world, and that she is a different type of woman than he usually dates, but none of that seems to bother him. After her last relationship she has trouble trusting anything a man tells her, so when he professes his love for her, and taking into account all their differences, she has a hard time believing he is being sincere. But he refuses to give up on her, so he goes to great lengths to prove to her that she was his perfect match. I thoroughly enjoyed watching these two fall for one another, their relationship started off as something of a farce, but after a few innocent kisses it was evident that they had some serious sparks, and something worth holding onto. Dare to Tempt was a perfect afternoon escape, their was romance, drama, suspense, and loads of steam waiting for me on every page… it was hard to put down once my eyes found the words! Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
I devoured Damon and Evie’s story. Damon was intelligent and Evie’s brain was what made them work so well together. The way Evie figured out who framed Damon was brilliant. This book is one I didn’t want to put down and I’m so glad I read.
Left me first say I love everything Dare !!!! I love the men, their partners and the loyalty this family share with family and friends. Dare to Tempt touches me on so many levels and I fell hook, line and sinker for Damon Prescott the star quarterback for the Miami Thunder who is accused of taking enhancing drugs and who is now sitting on a ban and desperately trying to prove his innocence.
Evie Wolfe is a family friend and is called in to put her private investigator skills to help prove what the family already believe that Damon is innocent. Problem is sparks fly as soon as Damon and Evie met and they soon leads to a seriously hot passionate relationship. Can she get the prove they desperately need and who will get hurt in the process ….
I loved this quick steamy romance, it’s was fun, it’s was hot and it had the perfect mix of love, passion and humour, the only thing I didn’t like was it ended to soon and I wanted more, so now I’m excited for the next book in a series that’s fast becoming one of my favourite reads of 2020.
The best part of this book for me was the intrigue of trying to find out who drugged Damon & the drama with John, Evie’s ex. I’m all about the suspense/action mixed with the romance! This book had it all which made for a great read!
I like that you also get to catch up with the rest of the family in each book, & past couples you’ve read about. I’m looking forward to Jaxon’s book but even more so looking forward to Braden’s.
I received an arc of this book in return for an honest review.
I loved Evie and Damon! Damon finally falls to his knees from his player ways when Evie takes on his case of testing positive for drugs, he knows he didn’t take. But Damon has plans for this fake girlfriend that include making her his girl forever. Definitely a great read and addition to the Dare series.

I enjoyed this romance. Evie and Damon had good chemistry, shared clever banter and I really liked the sparks they generated. The storyline was fun and offered up a entertaining blend of drama, heat, emotion, suspense, mystery and heart. There is an interesting and highly appealing cast of characters that provides endless possibilities for even more books. This is my candid, elective review.
5 star review Dare To Tempt (Dare Nation #2) by Carly Phillips
There is something about Ms. Phillips style of writing that I love. Dare to Tempt ticks all the boxes for me, from Alpha males, to feisty heroines, to family love and support and I was riveted from the first to the last chapter.
This is Damon Prescott and Evie Wolfe’s story and it was a highly entertaining read. The chemistry and attraction between Damon and Evie sizzles even as they try to resist. When Damon, a star quarterback is accused of taking performance enhancing drugs he and his family know he is innocent, the issue is trying to get the proof. When Evie is asked to put her private investigator skills to use to help, it sets off a chain of events that will lead to an explosive and passionate relationship.
I loved the build up of their relationship, it was humorous, sweet, romantic and steamy. What will happen when the truth is revealed? Can Damon convince Evie to take a chance on him and that his feelings are real?
Dare To Tempt was a steamy and at times emotional read which I didn’t want to finish.
I love all of those crazy Dares, and I’ve really enjoyed this series so far! I am excited for more.
Damon Prescott is part of a big family, with an even bigger extended family. His oldest brother, Austin (the hero from book #1), and his sister Bri, work with their biological dad (Paul Dare) at a successful sports agency. Another brother Jax, is a pro baseball star, and their final brother, Braden, is a doctor who works in far flung places in the world. Damon is a star pro quarterback, but when a terrible concussion injury happens, and a random team drug test shows a positive result for performance enhancing drugs, he’s MAD. He knows he didn’t take anything, and someone is setting him up, but who, and why?? And how can he find out those answers?
Evie Wolfe is a private investigator who is part of a big family of her own. She has 4 brothers, all blue collar, public servant types, and her parents are still married. When her best friend Quinn (the heroine from book #1) calls to ask for her help with Quinn’s soon to be brother-in-law’s predicament, she agrees to take the job. Posing as Damon’s girlfriend to get closer to the people in his life won’t be a hardship, as long as she doesn’t forget it’s all pretend. But, when her lying, vengeful ex shows back up in her life to threaten her, she’s got her own issues added to the mix. She’ll never trust a man again after what her ex did. She can’t. But Damon sure is making it hard to remember that.
Damon and Evie had excellent chemistry, and I loved their snarky banter and flirting. I liked how comfortable they got with each other in a short time, and how that helped them to truly get to know one another, even while they were pretending for the world. I loved how Damon was all in early on, and only kept up the faking ruse with Evie to ease her into the idea of being with him for real. It was sweet how he did whatever he needed to do to make her feel comfortable and safe in regards to her crazy ex, while still shoring up her confidence by letting her know that he trusted her to be safe and do her job. I really liked the way they were together.
The side characters here were great, as always. I love this whole massive extended crew, and there were even more cousins from New York that I don’t remember reading about before, but who seemed awesome too. Give me all the stories!! I just love how much love and comfort is found in their giant blended family. Evie’s brothers were awesome too, and I adore the idea of some blue collar hero stories coming soon, after hanging out with the uber-wealthy Dares for so long.
Damon and Evie had a wonderful connection, and I loved how strong Evie was on her own, but how she allowed Damon, and her brothers, to back her up when needed. Evie was a great heroine and I loved getting to know her. Damon knew she was it for him, and he wouldn’t let her go. Overall I really enjoyed this story! Up next, book 3 is about Damon’s brother Jax the baseball player, and I DO mean PLAYER. The marriage of convenience story line is one of my faves, so I’m looking forward to it!
Carly is so freaking fantastic. Keep these Dares coming!!! Evie is a friend of Bri and is a PI. She agrees to find out how Damon tested positive for a drug test. I love how sassy she was. When she showed up at the bar to “see if she could pass as his girlfriend”. … perfection! And man oh man do those protective alpha male genes show through. Damon immediately becomes protective of Evie (due to a psycho ex). You get drama with the stalker and finding out who was out for Damon. You get fun family, awww moment and fan yourself moments. GREAT GREAT STORY!

I really enjoyed this quick read that is the second book in the Dare Nation Series. We met Evie in Austin and Quinn’s book. She is Quinn’s best friend and a tough as nails PI. I absolutely loved her in Dare To Resist and fell and love with her even more in Date to Tempt. Damon is Austin’s cocky football player brother who has found himself in a bit of trouble that he can’t find his way out of, so his family decides to hire Evie to get to the bottom of it. The two end up being absolutely perfect for each other.
This is a quick read that will leave a smile on your face. Excited for more from this series for sure!
**I was generously provided with an advanced readers copy of this book in exchange for my fair and honest review**
Dare Nation has yet another scandal. This time it’s the star quarterback for the Miami Thunder, Damon Prescott. He’s tested positive for performance enhancing drugs and facing a four game suspension. The problem is…he didn’t take them. Enter Evie Wolfe, PI extraordinaire. She’s determined to prove his innocence while protecting her heart.
Dare to Tempt is book 2 in the Dare Nation series and is just as good as all the other Dare books. Carly Phillips has herself a gold mine with this series and I can’t wait to see what comes next. Each book has been unique and believable while giving the readers the romance they crave. Great book! 4.5 !
Carly Phillips delivers the hotness EVERY time, and Dare to Tempt is no exception. Damon is the broodiest kind of hot (hotttt!) and Evie is one of my favorite heroines I’ve read this year–I love a woman who takes no crap, and this private investigator fits the bill. From start to finish, this is classic Carly Phillips–smart, sizzling romance!
The second book in the Dare Nation series continues with Damon and Evie. Damon is an NFL player who just got suspended for testing positive for enhancements. Evie is being hired to find out how this could have happened, but she must do it pretending to be his girlfriend. We all met Evie in the last book because she is a Private Investigator and best friend to the female character. Her and Damon did not get off on the right foot in this book but that is quickly turned around when she starts her role as his girlfriend. There is also someone lurking in the background from Evie’s past that wants to cause her harm. It makes Damon want to protect her and with them living in proximity things can change. Evie wants to keep her heart closed to any feelings she just wants to have fun while working on the case. I love Damon because he played no games and he is not one to give up when he wants something. Evie is a woman that has been hurt but she hides behind the fact that she is independent. I must say though that I still love Cole’s story a lot better than Damon’s. Damon and Evie are great characters and their scenes together give you that lustful vibe. I love the Dare family and every time Carly does a different one, I wonder how many more Dare’s books she is going to come up with. This is family series is big and each one is different. You will not be disappointed when reading about this family because they will keep you intrigued.

I love a good dare ….book and this is it. Damon has met his match in Evie. He’s a quarterback that’s in some trouble, she’s just the PI to find the solution. These two have chemistry, and heat. Evie has trust issues thanks to being stalked by her ex. Damon has never had a serious relationship. The battle to an epic finish is the best yet.

There is nothing that I like more that a book that a romantic, steamy and suspense. Evie and Damon are my favorite couple so far, they are amazing, have great chemistry and work well together to solve their issues. I really like how their story developed and this is really a page turner. It was hard to put this book down and now I can’t wait for the next book in the series. I really enjoy reading this book.
