This is book 2 in the Dare Nation series and it features Damon and Evie. He needs her. Well, he needs her skills. Later, she ends up needing him and his skills. Any story where a Dare is involved is always sexy.
This is a sexy romance with a little mystery. The story line is fantastic with twists and turns that are sure to keep you guessing. As always, the characters are fabulous! I can’t wait for the next book in this wildly sexy series!
Each Dare Nation book I read just keeps getting better and Dare To Tempt was no exception! This book was sexy, suspenseful, drama and witty banter so how could you go wrong….. you can’t! Damon and Evie’s relationship may have started out fake but it definitely ended with so much more because Damon was determined to get the girl and prove he wasn’t just the playboy he was made out to be. If you’ve enjoyed the Dare Nation series so far then you will absolutely love this book!
Having read the first Dare Nation book, Dare To Resist back in May I’ve been looking so forward to this second book! I was so glad to get back into this series. I enjoyed this second installment!
As soon as I started reading I was pulled right in!
Damon is in the middle of his own personal hell he’s tested positive after getting a concussion he knows he didn’t take drugs so his sister Bri hires Evie to prove it. These two fake dating is priceless cause you know early on he is falling and quickly. There is lots that happens in this short read … you also get to catch up with lots of old friends. I loved seeing Austin propose and the glipse into Jaxon’s book!
5 Stars
Damon Prescott is delicious with a capital D! I swooned so hard over this man it’s not even funny. After suffering a concussion, Damon tests positive for PEDS and is suspended from football right before the season starts. Evie is a private investigator hired to be Damon’s new girlfriend so she’s able to get close to those in his organization and be snoopy lol. What neither counted on was how much they wanted each other. I loved how their “pretend” relationship turned quickly. I mean these two had so much chemistry I thought they’d melt my kindle lol. I’m loving this series and can’t wait for the next one!
Angela – Alphas Do It Better Book Blog
When it comes to reliable authors Ms. Phillips is always at the top of the list for her consistently satisfying romances and her appealing and realistic characters. With each turn of the page this release is another winner as a fake relationship slowly becomes real while the mystery surrounding a star quarterback is ultimately solved in an all-around HEA.
Damon Prescott’s a sexy, star quarterback on the top of his game when this book starts. Things go quickly downhill though the moment he gets a concussion with tests revealing performance enhancing drugs in his system which lead to being suspended from his team who are more like a family to him. It’s a crushing blow, one that has him doing whatever’s necessary to prove his innocence. Though he’s always enjoyed the player lifestyle he quickly commits to a fake relationship with a PI hired to find out the truth and discovers that being close to Evie’s the lone bright spot in his life. Damon starts out as a stereotypical player, enjoying the adoration of the female fans through numerous one night stands. He’s fun, flirty, as well as a bit arrogant, but seeing him around his family shows a man with a big heart just waiting for someone to love him for him. After a rocky first encounter, Damon and Evie’s connection turned combustible and I was rooting for them every step of the way as their pairing was utterly entertaining and made them even more likable as they finally took a chance on love and each other.
Evie Wolfe’s a great heroine, self-assured when it comes to her job and protective of both family and friends. She’s a smart cookie too with a need to prove herself in what’s normally seen as a man’s job and I was cheering her on from start to finish as she dealt with the feelings of inadequacy her ex left her with. It was an internal battle she waged with herself over embracing her womanly side while solving the mystery of Damon’s dirty test results, a battle that’s a timely issue and one that made me like her all the more for standing her ground and being true to herself. Through it all Evie’s full of sass, more than capable of giving as good as she gets, and it made for a connection to Damon that was full of sparks. With each turn of the page this couple became more united, stronger in their love, as they solved not only the mystery surrounding Damon but also mysteries surrounding the heart.
Damon and Evie were a delightful pairing, fun and flirty towards each other, with crackling banter and sizzling interludes. Damon was a bit superficial at first, but as the story progressed I saw greater depth to his character. Time spent with family and friends brought out a softer side that endeared him to me while his support of Evie in her job also spoke highly of him. Evie was an appealing heroine with an air of confidence but also vulnerability that kept me rooting for her to get everything she wanted in a romance I was fully invested in. Surrounding this entertaining main couple was an equally appealing cast of secondary characters, family members and friends, some who readers have seen before and some who left a tantalizing impression on me as I wait for more stories to be told. Fans of the theme of fake romances will find much to like about this release, much to like about the characters and their beautiful blend of sexy and sweet, and by The End you’ll be left with a smile on your face.
Drama, suspense, off-the-charts chemistry, mystery, witty banter, plenty of heat, and a great storyline that you can’t wait to see where the story takes you. – Cheryl Graham-Petit (Goodreads)
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
The Dare Nation is back and this time it’s Damon’s turn to face the fire! When a drug test comes back as positive, Damon’s world is spun off of its axis. As a pro football player, the last thing he needs is a positive drug test on his record.
Enter Evie. This girl is legit FIRE! She is my soul sister in every way. Evie is a private investigator and is willing to help Damon figure out how he got a positive result when he knows he has never taken anything that could possibly hurt his football career. But she has a past of her own, and when it comes back to haunt her… it adds fuel to the fire surrounding her and Damon.
These two together are amazing. Carly developed their world and thrust these two into it with no looking back. And it was HOT! This was definitely an enemies to lovers trope that lit my kindle on fire.
I am totally obsessed with these books and cannot wait for the rest of them to come out.
Four stars for this enemies to lovers that will light your kindle on fire and have you wanting so much more from the Dare Nation when it is all said and done.
“He’s a smooth talking jock in trouble
She’s the solution to his problems.
Love is the last thing they expected to find. ”
Um.. yes, please!!
Carly Phillips’ second in her Dare Nation series, Dare to Tempt, is a steamy, sweet romance with enough suspense to keep you reading. I love the chemistry CP delivers over and over. Damon and Evie don’t disappoint.
Dare to Tempt gets all the checks marked for me, a sports romance that has a fake relationship with suspense. I was sad to reach the end but already looking forward to the next in Dare Nation.
I love Dare Nation and Damon and Evie’s story is no different. I loved that Evie was strong and independent, even as she’s being harassed by her ex. I love how she was the one who saved Damon. A nice little switch that you don’t get to read about too often. And of course Damon fell hard. You get a glimpse in to some of your favorite Dare’s and it’s an all around excellent story.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book (given by the author)…
This book focuses on Damon, Austin’s brother, and Evie, Quinn’s bestie.
I did enjoy this book, Damon did a major turnaround from buttmole to sweet and Evie was a strong brave woman who gave as good as she got. Damon has some issues with his career and Evie is hired to help him, but Damon isn’t too happy about it at first. However, Evie was definitely up to the challenge and put Damon in his place and that boy was dumbstruck.
Now I have to say I believe this book involves some major “insta” moments, whether it was insta-lust or insta-love, I’m not 100% certain; but Damon went from thinking Evie was not good enough for him to wanting her to be his girlfriend pretty darn quickly. I loved how Evie handle her own dangerous issue, she knew she could handle the situation but was strong and brave enough to take help from her friends and family; I truly dislike it when woman put themselves in harm’s way just to prove they can do it alone. I also loved that Evie didn’t give into a true relationship with Damon right away because to be honest, I thought Damon was jerk in regards to his assessment of Evie at first.
Since she didn’t look like the typical women he went out with, he didn’t seem to think she would fit in, in his world and be able to help him. Although Evie did try to fight Damon’s long-term advances, I do feel that things were a bit too easy. Damon is a famous playboy football player who never dated a woman, only hooked up, and suddenly he wanted a full relationship Evie, a woman he had been attracted to for a while, but didn’t fit his idea of the woman for him.
I guess I wanted a grand gesture or something big to happen to show that Damon had changed his ways because to be honest if we didn’t know what he was thinking, we wouldn’t know what was going on with his feelings for Evie.
All in all I did enjoy this book and I look forward to more books in this series especially Jaxon and Macy 😉
This series has already stolen my heart and I regret NOTHING! With book two in her Dare Nation series Carly Phillips continues to pour on the feels with Damon and Evie’s story in DARE TO TEMPT and I loved every minute of it! What more can we ask for than a tight knit family who are all successful and accomplished finding their forever love one sibling at a time? Oh yeah, being reunited occasionally with our favorite family … their cousins THE DARES! So rewarding!
Damon Prescott is delicious. He’s self-assured, he’s adorable and he’s at the top of his game. It didn’t take long for him to get under my skin and have me pulling for him to clear his name and get the girl.
Evie Wolfe is the bomb. She loves being relaxed but can turn into a bombshell when she needs to and takes no lip from anyone. I loved seeing her let her guard down and let Damon crack her hard shell.
I highly recommend this book and the entire series to anyone who loves a fast paced story filled with family, friendship and electrifying passion. There’s always an intriguing plot and the characters are so easy to love. I’m looking forward to the next book!
Damon Prescott is part of such a big family, I don’t even know how they know who is who Damon is a star pro quarterback and after he gets a terrible concussion during one of his games, a random team drug test shows a positive result and now not just does he have a concussion but his been suspended for from playing football plus people think he takes drugs. He knows he doesn’t take drugs but how can he prove it when the evidence is there for all to see. And why would someone set him up like this??
Evie Wolfe is a private investigator, with 4 brothers. When her best friend Quinn asks her to help her soon to be brother in law prove that someone set him up, the only solution is to pose as Damon’s girlfriend to get closer to the people in his life. Let’s just hope she remembers its just pretend. Adding into all this chaos her ex shows up and things seem to be getting a bit out of control. Adding in that she might be attracted to Damon more than she wants to be. But how can she trust another man after what her ex did to her, and especially a playboy quarterback.
I loved the chemistry between Damon and Evie and their back and forth banter and the flirting was just too good. I loved that even though it was a ‘pretend’ relationship, Damon was all in right from the get go. Both characters had their own difficulties, but I liked that even though it was pretend they were stronger and better together and Evie definitely changed the playboy’s ways
Dare to Tempt by Carly Phillips is the second book in the Dare Nation Series which follows the lives of the Prescott men, a family of rich billionaire sports heroes. The first book, Dare to Resist, is the story of Austin Prescott, an ex-football player turned sports agent. Dare to Tempt is the second book and focusing on the smooth-talking quarterback, Damon Prescott. The third book drops in October 2020 and focuses on the bad boy of baseball, Jaxon Prescott. You will have to wait until a while for the final installment, Dare to Stay, when the savior, doctor Braden Prescott finally comes home. It is going to be a hot one today, in more ways than one, so grab your sweet tea and let’s chat about Dare to Tempt by Carly Phillips.
Damon Prescott’s life had just gone from golden to shit in an instant. Not only had one violent football play gone wrong, but he had also tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs in a “random” test and had been immediately suspended from playing. With his head still pounding as a result of the concussion, Damon has to figure out how he has tested positive on the random test as well as the follow-up when no unknown supplements went into his body. His only ray of hope is to prove himself innocent with the help of his biggest nightmare, his sister’s best friend – Evie Wolfe, a licensed Private Investigator. Evie is not Damon’s usual type but he cannot get her out of his mind.
Evie Wolfe comes from a family with a long history of public service. With a father and four brothers in public service, it was a no brainer that Evie would follow in their footsteps. But a relationship gone bad left Evie questioning her abilities and six months ago she left her job as an investigator for the Miami District Attorney’s office and opened her own Private Investigator’s business. Evie is great at her job but needs a high-profile case to get her new career jump-started which is why her best friend, Bri Prescott, called for her to work on her brother’s case. In order to get into places that a regular PI can’t go, Evie needs to pretend to be Damon’s girlfriend but convincing the high-profile jock who has a reputation for sleeping with women and sending them away might be easier said than done. She might have to drop the jeans, leather jacket, and scuffed books in order to prove that she can look like one of his typical women. What Evie doesn’t know is that her ripped jeans and leather jacket have already caught the attention of Damon.
Carly Phillips is known for “alphalicious” heroes and romance to “set your heart on fire” and Dare to Tempt does not disappoint. All it takes for Damon to turn from a hot jock to an alphalicious hero is for Evie’s ex-stalker to show up again. Evie might be a tough PI but there is something about her that makes Damon want to leave behind his playboy ways and take care of her but he has to convince Evie that his feelings are real and he’s not just playing a part for the investigation. When a Prescott man falls in love, he falls hard and fast. I really enjoyed this book even though it ventured a little toward instalove. You know that I love books about people in public service and am very critical about how they are written. There were a few scenes involving Evie’s stalker that I felt could have been handled differently. Despite that, I really enjoyed the characters and all of their different personalities and look forward to reading others in the series.
My rating for Dare to Tempt by Carly Phillips….4 out of 5 propellers!
Another great story by Miss Phillips! I loved these two! I can’t wait to see what comes next!
Amazing chemistry and a definite page turner! Carly never disappoints! She hit this one out of the park! Love this series.
He’s in love with her, but she doesn’t fit in to his glitzy lifestyle, or so he thinks. But that all changes when Damon tests positive for PEDs. Now he needs her to help clear his name and he’s going to see how easily he wants to give up the glitz and how well she can transform herself to fit in to his world.
She is his future sister-in-law’s best friend and he has been warned off of her. He’s known to only hook up, but now he has to play a role and Evie is his new girlfriend. She hates the way he looks down on her, but she needs this job to help build her business. So she’s willing to dress up and play nice to get the job done.
These two are like oil and water, but they will ignite and burn. The question is, will they burn each other, burn out or fan the flames?
Damon’s life gets turned upside down when he’s suspended from his team on the basis of something he knows he didn’t do, enter Evie who is going to do some digging and help him clear his name and find out who’s setting him up only problem is Damon is looking for much more from her and she’s determined not to let guard down but he’s hard to resist
Evie and Damon were total opposites. Well not completely she just didn’t put herself out there because of a crazy ex. She was all about her job and do happen to be helping Damon out of a jam. She was pretending to be his girlfriend but hit him it was real instantly. She was hesitant at first but he got her on board real quick. The issues were resolved and their HEA moved quickly and it was surprisingly cute.
