If you’re in the mood for a light, baby on his doorstep, assistant in his bed type of story, DARE TO RESIST is the perfect match!
Sports romance, office love story, AND a baby on the doorstep? All our fave tropes rolled into one delightful story told by an always-fave!
Quinnlyn Stone has just gotten her dream job she will be working for Austin Prescott who is a sports agent. With this new job she is hoping to climb the ladder and make a name for herself. Austin is happy with his new hire but she is quite attractive and he worries he won’t be able to keep things just business. When Austin finds a baby on his doorstep with a note saying he’s the father everything in his life changes. Quinnlyn agrees to help him care for the baby until things can be figured out. Is he really the father, if so where does he go from there. The two get into a routine and at the same time sparks fly between them. Quinn has to Austin she doesn’t want children and Austin is already attached to the baby. Follow along as these two dance around their feeling, will either be able to make a compromise or will their video g romance never get off the ground?
Carly Phillips never fails to bring the heat and the romance. Dare to Resist has it all–hunky hero, adorable baby, feisty heroine. LOVED this story so hard!
I really enjoyed this sweet and sexy read! The sparks fly between Austin and Quinn from their first meeting. You’ll be drawn in and want to see how their inevitable love story unfolds! Plus, fans of the Dare series will enjoy seeing familiar faces and some interesting newer characters.
Austin is a former NFL star who has now opened his own sports agency. He meets Quinn while looking for an assistant. There’s an instant attraction between the two. After a memorable kiss, the two recognize that starting a relationship isn’t in the best interest of their working relationship. A year later, Austin finds out unexpectedly that he is a father and the baby’s mother isn’t in the picture. He needs Quinn’s help to navigate being a single father.
Both Austin and Quinn have complicated pasts, particularly their family situations. In addition to their instant attraction, it is clear that the two have a deep respect for each other. Their mutual respect grows as they care for the baby, learn even more about each other and work through the concerns each has about being together long term.
One of my favorite parts of this book is the side characters and the role they play. The discussion between Ian Dare, Austin’s cousin, and Austin about how he should pursue Quinn is priceless. Ian’s story is the first Dare book and it is entertaining to see him give Austin such sage advice when he was so clueless when he was falling in. And Quinn’s friend, Evie, is the kind of friend that everyone needs. She listens to you, but she also tells you what you don’t want to hear. She’s a great addition to this series and it looks like we will see a lot more of her in the next book.
I definitely recommend this book. It is a fun, quick read.
Thank you to the author for giving me an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
I can always count on Carly Phillips to write a book that keeps me up past my bedtime! Add in a hot ex-football playing hero and accidental roommates (one of my FAVORITE tropes!) and this is pure romance gold!
A sexy, slow-burn page turner!
Oooh this book has a lot of catnip. Office Romance Sports Romance Single Dad Secret Baby All the things that make my romance loving toes curl! Another winner for Carly Phillips!
Dare to Resist is a slow burn tension-filled little page-turner that had me up until the wee hours of the morning… I just couldn’t pry my eyes from the pages!
Don’t miss this!
I love Carly and hell yes to anything ex-football player. That cover is super hot too!
Very simply put, I love Carly’s books. You will too. Dive on in loves!
This book didn’t hit the same as the original Dare series, but it was still pretty good. I binge listened to the Dare Nation series. I enjoy a single dad book. Austin and Quinn had good chemistry, but I was surprised they it took them as long to admit their attraction.
I listened to the audiobook, and some of the changes Austin went through trying to take care of a baby were so entertaining. I also loved his devotion to his siblings. I also appreciated that Quinn was not only intelligent, but resourceful and on top of her game. I admired that she was so willing to help out knowing about her past experiences.
Joe Arden and Erin Mallon did a great job of narration. I think it made the book even more entertaining.
Former NFL player and current sports agent, Austin needs an executive assistant. Quinn is the right woman for the job. Career focused, Quinn knows what she wants, and what she doesn’t. When the job description changes Quinn has to decide if she can change her future.
Phillips never disappoints
OMG!!! I love the first book in the new Dare series. Austin and Quinn from there first meeting and all the way thru the book are so fun to read. Once Austin learning to be a father and breaking down Quinn’s walls, I couldn’t put this book down. You won’t regret picking this one up, well worth it.
Austin hires Quinn as his executive assistant despite their strong feelings for one another. They are able to keep those feelings at bay for a full year, until someone leaves a baby on his doorstep with a note saying it’s his. Then Quinn ends up moving in for a few days just to help him out.
“You should know, the fact that I asked you for help with Jenny? It’s because I trust you. (…) I also want you.”
“Do you? Or do you want the built in nanny I provide?”
“I want you, Quinn. You. Not what you can do for me.”
Since they are living together & are attracted to each other, they decide to be temporary friends with benefits, until the issue with the baby is sorted out.
This was a well written book, with a HEA ending that was quite predictable. I liked how Austin acted with her all the way to the end (where he made sure that she felt she had a choice about moving forward together). However, I found it annoying that she changed her mind & did a 180 as to her feelings for having kids. I like it better when the main character sticks to what they believe in & don’t change for their partners.
Despite this, this story was well written for its genre.
Love reading the Dare family. Never disappoints.
Enjoyable read. The strong sense of family and characters outside their comfort zones. I didn’t want to put it down!
I love the Carly Phillips Dare Series.
