Steamy!
This is the second instalment in a series of stories about close friends who fulfill dares to help their friend out as she writes her thesis. They are clean romances and this one was especially steamy! I can’t wait to read Michelle and Jonah’s story next!
4.5 stars
So sweet, fun, and short that you can’t help but love it! Perfect for me these days.
Holly and Cameron are best friends who need a push to see if they could be more. I don’t think recording a make out session and posting it to social media is a good idea for Cameron. It wasn’t just that he was supposed to set a good example to his students, depending on his employment contract he could be fired over this. Teachers have been terminated for less. Also, neither of their families would be happy with their behavior. Still it was a cute YA happy for now romance.
This is a short, friends to more, romcom. This group of friends continue to have truth or dare challenges. Michelle and Jonah are dared to go on a romantic couples retreat, in Hawaii. They really like each other but won’t come out and say anything. And of course, there must be a twist thrown in! This is an easy, quick read. Clean with some steam. Nothing inappropriate.
This is the first installment of Ms. Burton’s new Dare series. And what a delightful start! A perfect fun read for a lazy afternoon. It was well-paced for a short story and kept my interest all the way through. A really adorable friends-to-lovers romance that will surely put a smile on your face and warm your heart. Cameron and Holly are best friends and Holly is the one doing the crushing while Cameron just sees her as a good friend. The start to their romance is adorable and just plain laugh out loud fun. Don’t miss out on this super cute book! I can’t wait to start the second Dare!
I received a complimentary advanced reader’s copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my review.
An easy and funny read with a story that many have tried in real life, sometimes having the desired answer and sometimes having their desires trashed. Laura writes her story with good humor and in a very relatable way. Entertaining as always!!!

This is a short, sweet, clean and fun romance read. This is the first in Burton’s Dare series and is the story of Holly and Cameron who have been best friends for awhile and while Holly has been harboring a crush on Cameron she doesn’t want to take a chance on losing the relationship she currently has if a more than friends option is on the table – until a game of Truth or Dare…
This read, while sweet and well written with smooth and fast paced storyline reads a bit young – which for me is fine but I usually want to know ahead of time so I can pick my chemistry / heat level depending on my mood. A few laughs thrown in make this overall romance a quick but fun one!

REVIEW
Holly and Cameron are best friends. That is one of the best ways to start out.. friends to lovers.. definitely a great book to read if youre looking for a feel good romance

I’ve read several books written by Laura Burton; she has done a great job at writing a good short story; she is becoming one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

This is a short, kinda cute story of Holly & Cameron moving from friends to lovers. It’s not really to my liking but it’s a clean story. I received an ARC. This is my voluntary opinion.
Friends or More . . . ?
Two people are stuck in the “friend zone”. At least Holly is aware that she doesn’t want to stay there. Cameron is not sure if he knows what he wants, having put all of his energy into his acting for drama club! Now they are going to participate in a game of Truth or Dare – and this should make a pretty clear statement when they have to record a video of the two of them kissing and upload it to the internet. Will they be afraid of losing their friendship along the way by crossing lines? Or will they embrace this chance to find out if this was perhaps meant to be?
Dare 1: Kiss Me Like You Mean It is the first book in the “Dare” series. Laura Burton has written a fun novella. Holly and Cameron have been best friends since High School. Although Holly has crushed on Cameron since forever, she is afraid of losing her best friend. Her friends are playing Truth or Dare. Holly and Cameron have to “make out” and post it on social sites. What follows is laugh out loud fun. Will they or won’t they? You have to read to see. I received an arc for my honest review.
This was another cute story about Michelle’s truth or dare so she could write her thesis. I enjoyed Cameron and Holly who have been best friends for awhile. It was fun to see if their dare would ruin their relationship or not. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
A cute sweet short story! Perfect for a quick escape!
She REALLY likes him. And her friend is willing to help her out of the friend zone. And so she dares him to kiss her . . .and they have to post it on-line. AWKWARD!!! Great story!!!
Michelle has another dare set up. This time for Holly and Cameron who have been best friends since high school.
Holly wants to get out of friendzone and this is her only chance.
I really liked that their first kiss was totally awkward and bumping teeth and so far from perfect.
I also like the way the realization of his feelings evolves for him.
Holly and Cameron are perfect for each other.
I really love this heart-warming page-turner.
I received a free ARC copy of this book and this is my honest opinion
Very good! Loved Holly and Cameron’s dare and their story. I can’t wait to read Michelle and Jonah’s. This is a short and sweet romance.
I received an advance copy of this book from the author, but this is my honest opinion that I share freely.
First, this feels like a YA (which I am totally for), that was ‘aged up’ so things like parents and money didn’t need to be considered. That being said, I really enjoyed it! I am a huge fan of friends-to-loves and slow builds, which is absolutely this story.
It is a quick reach and I really wish it would have been longer, but I knew what I was getting into with the words ‘short story’. It was paced perfectly and kept me engaged throughout. It is definitely a one sitting read! It was so good!
Cameron is Holly’s best friend who she has loved since day one. But Cameron only sees Holly as a best friend. This makes for a really cute budding romance that feels insta-love but with a built in history so you know it isn’t.
I don’t want to say much more because it might give away some of the bits that I loved of this short story so I’m going to leave this you with this…
If you want a book to warm your heart for Valentine’s day but you don’t have the time to dedicate to a full-length novel, this is the story to read!

Review Title: Cute Sweet Clean & Short
“Dare Number One: Kiss Me Like You Mean It” by Laura Burton
Yes the review title says it all. So what more could you want in a novella. This was a fun quick read. Enjoy and Happy Reading ! !
