I FLOVE THIS BOOK!! SL gives fantastic rockstar!! And Weatherly! I adored her. I love her journey from the girl doing what her family and friends expect to coming into her own and finding her own path! Dare, oh my goodness, the delicious, charming, bad boy but not a bad boy rockstar! I loved all the feels! How does she always make me get teary at least once a book?!? I love it!! I received a review copy. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
A bad boy and a girl next door, a struggle rock star and law student, oh yeah this couple couldn’t be more different but they’re a match made from heaven. This one is the most romantic story I’ve ever read from S.L Scott, this one hit me with love from the beginning, I love the fate/destiny thing going on in this book, it’s just makes everything so sweet, and I love that it’s still steamy but not too much, and even there’s so much love it’s not always flowers and lollipops, all the challenges and struggles make the story more real and in the end make everything just much more sweeter.
If you love romance read, I think you will love this book and you definitely don’t want to miss this one.
This was such a beautiful story about two people whose souls collide when they meet each other in a bar.
Dare is the guy from the wrong side of town. He had a bad childhood and is struggling to earn money and be successful with his band. Weatherly is the complete opposite. She was brought up in a wealthy family, given everything money can buy and has just finished law school, her future has been set out for her by her father.
Even though they are so different their attraction to each other is instant and and very quickly becomes more. Dare suddenly finds himself in the relationship that he has never wanted to have before. Weatherly finds herself with someone who really sees her and respects her for who she is and she begins to wonder if the life set out for her is what she wants. For a short time they live inside a bubble of passion and intimacy that they know is going to burst once they reveal their relationship to the world, especially Weatherly’s world.
As they expected, outside forces working to their own agenda align to break Dare and Weatherly apart, but as a couple they are a force to be reckoned with and they are determined to fight to get their HEA.
I really hope that this book becomes is the first in a new series as I loved the references to the Crow Brothers and Outlaw Records and I would like to read more about Dare’s band. Another awesome read as always from S.L.
Oh my gosh! This book had all the feels! From the backstory, to the instant connection when they met in the bar, I loved every moment of this story! Dare and Weatherly were kind of a “forbidden” romance couple…
Dare is from the “other” side of the tracks, struggling rock star, grew up with a single mom after having escaped from his abusive father.
Weatherly is getting ready to graduate from law school, just caught her boyfriend in bed with another woman, is expected to have a certain status lifestyle.
I loved this book! I have been such a fan of author S.L. Scott since I picked up her first book, but this is my favorite one so far! It is a standalone. Totally recommend this one!!! 5 stars!!!
I absolutely love Suzie Scott’s rock star romance books. And Dare Marquis has just put himself on the top as swoon worthy and so romantic. Weatherly Beck is the perfect mismatch for Dare. Everything from the way they meet, to how they explore their relationship and ultimately overcome challenges is new for both Dare & Weatherly. The writing is so exceptional in the book. It’s easy to get lost in the moments and places. Get ready to one click your next favorite love story!!!!
OMG where do I begin with this review…… there are so many places I could start but I don’t want to ruin this read for anyone. This is one of those books that MUST be read to fully enjoy it. This is one of those books that is a hidden gem. When you start reading it you can’t stop reading until the end and when you get to the end you are like NO NO NO because you want more.
Dare and Weatherly are an amazing couple once they get together. At first it is supposed to be one night of passion with no strings attached that is until Dare gets feelings for Weatherly and he will stop at nothing to let her know that he wants her for more than one night. Dare teaches Weatherly to love herself as well as him and get through her rough spots to come out on top.
I have read this story before, and the audiobook version is amazing! I loved this Rock Star Romance/opposites attract! Weatherly and Dare’s story is beautiful and romantic. They share an instant attraction and their chemistry is strong. The ending is beautiful. I enjoyed reading this story. This wasn’t my first book from this author, and she never disappoints. Ava Erickson and Sebastian York did an amazing job with the narration, as always! I enjoyed listening this story and I highly recommend it. (updated with audiobook version!)
Weatherly has had bad luck with men and isn’t looking for anything. Then she meets Dare when his band is playing at a bar. Dare has been working hard trying to get his band signed so they can share his music. Dare has never had trouble finding women to spend time with but he feels different with Weatherly. Will they end up together?
Dare is a hot rock star and Weatherly is a smart, good girl looking for a one night stand. Trouble is Dare wants more than one night. The two go through many problems to come out on the other side. I love reading about characters from two different worlds. An awesome read.
Based on the number of Rockstar romances I’ve read, I feel like I can call myself a rocker romance groupie, and frankly, I don’t see anything wrong with it because it’s not the rocker facade that always keeps me coming back to these arrogant, sexy alpha males, it’s the fact that there is so much more to these bad boys then they show on stage, and with the right woman, the guy beneath the persona is the one who rocks my world!
It’s clear just how much Weatherly Beck has missed out on due to her parents’ influence and dictates, but the one thing that I appreciated about how S.L. Scott crafted Weatherly’s character is that she may have allowed people to tell her what to do…to walk the path that was set out for her, but the moment she took back control, she refuses to give it back to people who didn’t deserve it or her. And while, yes, it may be a bit cliche with the whole good girl/bad boy relationship vibe that’s happening at the beginning of the story, but that’s only what brings them together, why they work…why they overcome their past choices as well as their negative influences is about so much more than just Weatherly taking a walk on the wild side and that idea is strewn throughout the pages of DARE.
Dare may personify the edgy, rocker vibe who needs to have an attorney on retainer and who only wants instant gratification out of his time with the women who warm his bed, but he’s not that guy with Weatherly; she’s different from the start and SL Scott makes that fact abundantly clear with the way Dare treats Weatherly, the things he says to her, and the honesty that comes with wanting to be around one another, freely and wholeheartedly.
I adore romances that illustrate how love doesn’t care about how much money someone has, their family pedigree, or what side of the ‘tracks’ they come from, even if they’re complete opposites…And, while society may care about those things and feel it necessary to judge, admonish, and protest, the heart wants what the heart wants and that’s truly all that matters, especially when a person’s character defines them way more than any dollar amount, posh address, or six-figure job could.
Truly living…and loving is dangerous, which means that people need to be brave enough and dare themselves to step out of what they’re accustomed to and go all in, being bold, being completely themselves, and being those things without caring what others think, even those who have known them forever because if they question someone close to them then they don’t truly know what their heart wants or what their soul needs.
But for Weatherly and Dare – their differences don’t dissuade them because their hearts were captured by one another long before they realized exactly who each other was and what they were willing to risk to be together.
4.5 Poison Apples
What a fabulous book! From cover to cover this book gladdens your heart and rewards every lover of romance in spades. In Weatherly and Dare we have two of the most delightful and charming lead characters to grace the pages of my favourite genre. Their story is one of an early, auspicious start and, though they do have some rough times, I never felt in doubt that a love like theirs would find a way to succeed.
Written with great affection, with a greater cast of fabulous friends, some angst and set backs, this book delivers a heart warming and totally satisfying experience. Loved it!!
This book was a little slow to catch my interest but once it did I couldn’t put it down! Dare and Weatherly’s story is about destiny and definitely makes you think things happen for a reason. Some people are meant to be together. There IS such a thing as soulmates! Weatherly grew up with both parents but was so lonely and Dare grew up with his mom and so much love. It goes to show that money can’t buy love. The family that Dare has with the other members of The Heroes is so sweet! They are hardcore rockers that show their caring sides to the people they love. I fell in love with these characters, not only Dare and Weatherly but also Lennox, Helen, English, and Romeo. I would love for the other members of The Heroes to get their own books too!!

I ate every delicious morsel of this delectably sweet romance! Dare and Pepper come off the pages with the chemistry they share. Two different worlds yet somehow only existing for the other. In between all the swooning and fanning yourself with your kindle its difficult not to get caught up in the whirlwind and fall in love with their story.
Weatherly being given everything her heart desires, yet she works hard toward a future she really isn’t sure she wants for herself. It is her chance meeting with Dare that makes her realize she wants more. To find her own path and redefine herself as someone other than what meets the eye. Dare is the Hero that brings all these feelings to life. Still working toward his own dreams, its Weatherly that gives him that extra push to focus on his future.
You might think some parts moved a bit slower than others but in reality it is all about gaining the trust and appreciation that comes along with such a romance and the two very different definitions of freedom each of them hold.
I enjoyed every bit of this journey and can not wait to see where we go from here. I mean, there are still few more members of the band I would definitely love to see more of (hint, hint).
I LOVE DARE, there I just had to say that first. S.L.Scott sure delivered an amazing book. I was hooked from the start, I was up until the am reading this because I couldn’t put it down.
This book had me swooning and so in love with these characters. I just loved Dare so much, he has literally my whole attention/ I loved how he did what he wanted but at the same time he cared and did what he thought was right. I also loved Weatherly, I loved how she just stopped letting people control her and just goes and does what she wants.
The chemistry between this two was AMAZING!!! A MUST READ!!
Serendipity, coincidence, fate, or destiny. However you sum it up, Dare Marquis and Weatherly Beck were meant to be! They were born for each other and spent their lives just waiting to see each other again someday. I literally got chills and goose bumps as I read this story and little by little, tidbits were revealed into the beginnings of the characters and I couldn’t wait till they both realized what I already knew—sometimes life lays out a plan for us and we are helpless to fight against it.
S.L. Scott has written another beautiful romance with all the feels and emotions I experienced in A Star Is Born. That feeling of connecting with someone’s soul, never wanting to part, dreading the minutes you are away from each other, and knowing deep down inside that some force of nature bigger than the both of you has a hand in your future.
Beauty attracts the eye, but the soul captures the heart.
I loved the way Dare and Pepper took their time and let their relationship grow, took the time to get to know each other, and just took time with each other. It helped build their connection; build the anticipation of their relationship going to the next level. I couldn’t help but feel the electricity, the chemistry, the all-consuming love they had for each other. Their bubble for two was a special place where their bond grew, and it is what held them together when reality reared its ugly head.
The whole cast of characters in this story lend a hand in making this a great new world for the author to build upon. I look forward to many more romances to come featuring members of The Heroes. Each one will have their own dynamic and epic story to be told, but hopefully, Romeo and Stascia are up first
Dare is romance at its best. It made be remember falling in love, never wanting the night to end, dancing till last call, long drives just to talk and spend time together, and skinny dipping at the local quarry. All the things I loved about my youth are brought to the pages. Dare and Pepper will reside in my head and in my heart for many moons to come. They are what romance is all about. Dare may not think he does relationships well, but I beg to differ—he does everything right! From wildflower bouquets to yellow ribbons and perfect picnics, this girl could not help swooning and donning her googly starstruck eyes.
Scott has done it again! She has undone me and made me a puddle of goo with Dare! I love him. He has such a soul that is good under all that doubt and past he had to live. Weatherly is a sweetheart that is not tainted with money. I love how she wants to live life for what it is. I truly believe that is what makes these two soul mates.
But what really caught me up in this story was watching Dare want to live in the moment. To try the firsts and be a gentle bear. I FLOVE him and claim him as mine! He stole the show. Not to mention we get some other cameos in the story line that had me squealing like a fool. The beginning, middle, and end captured my heart. This book my friends is not just a one time read, this is the book that will be a go to for many years to come. You will need to revisit Dare over and over. 100 Golden Stars!
SL Scott, the #QueenOfRockStarRomance,
has done it again!!! Her words have you routing for LOVE before they even know what Love is. Dare & Weatherly prove that opposites definitely attract and can tug your hearts strings from beginning to end!! Pick up your copy today!!
From its charming opening scene to its near-perfect epilogue readers will find this a decadently delightful romance showcasing the theme of opposites attracting as Dare “Robert” Marquis and Weatherly “Pepper” Beck had me rooting for them every step of the way. Add in Dare’s rock star lifestyle and I was even more drawn to this story as his bandmates also left an indelible mark on me that added to this story’s sensuality and has me hoping we’ll see more of these secondary rockers in the future.
Dare’s childhood was a bumpy one where he and his mom were short on money but where there was no shortage of love when it came to the sacrifices his mother made for him and it’s just some of what drives him to succeed now. He may come from the wrong side of the tracks, may enjoy some of the rock star vices, but he’s a sweet and sexy hero whose connection to the rich girl who shows up unexpectedly at one of his shows practically jumped off the pages. He’s definitely a charmer who knows how to empower others and was a strong support to Weatherly as she finally started living life on her own terms. He saw beyond her “perfect” exterior to the strong-willed and caring woman with a heart of gold she kept closely guarded. He too had to work through his own feelings of unworthiness as he worried he’d never be enough for Weatherly…though it’s plainly obvious to readers how perfectly they fit together in this hot and heartwarming romance.
As a young girl Weatherly always went against the grain, was outspoken and bold, before her parents turned her into their version of the perfect daughter. As she’s grown up she’s let life pass her by, surrounded herself by people who care more about style than substance, and it’s left her feeling as though something’s been missing. The night she walks away from her cheating boyfriend is the night she meets the man she’s always been waiting for and together they make a formidable couple whose journey to HEA is full of angst, judgements of others, and a romance that pulls at the heartstrings. Weatherly’s a dutiful daughter when readers first meet her, about ready to graduate law school as her parents intended and spending time with people who appear to be friends in name only. Meeting Dare sets her on a new path though, one where she finally goes after what she wants, and it was an enjoyable turning point that had her boldly sticking up for herself. From start to finish she was the kind of heroine you like and admire, the kind you can see yourself hanging around with in real life, and many of her actions had me cheering. She may appear to have it all, coming from a family of wealth, but it’s all meaningless as it comes with too many strings she’s no longer interested in dealing with.
Ms. Scott has crafted yet another scorching and emotionally engaging rock star romance courtesy of its delicious hero Dare and endearing heroine Weatherly. From the moment they first meet they’re destined to be together. Nothing and no one can keep them apart once they commit to each other, though their journey to HEA does take a bumpy turn a time or two. This main couple has a crackling connection with sweet and sexy banter teeming with sexual tension that had me waiting with bated breath for them to act on their attraction in a one-night stand that was well worth the wait. Along with this appealing main couple was an equally colorful cast of secondary characters who all left an impression on me. The group of people Weatherly hung out with at the start were realistic in their rich elitist attitudes with words and deeds that were truly hurtful and her standing strong against their belittlements was a good omen that I cheered over. Their beliefs caused a few roadblocks along the way while I kept hoping they’d get their just desserts. Another group of characters to leave their mark were the men of The Heroes. Dare’s bandmates were a decadent collection of sexy men (who knew they were hot) whose interactions with one another were playful with a brotherly vibe. They too came from hard knock lives and are just scraping by while they try to make a success of their band. Readers are given just brief glimpses of their backgrounds and it’s these glimpses that have me longing for their stories to be told in the future. On a whole this was a sweet and sexy romance, a romance that captivated me with the power of love as the heart knew just what Dare and Weatherly needed. It was a heartwarming yet bumpy journey to HEA that tapped into both my heart and soul and is one I definitely recommend to others!
Dare is a rebel musician love story about a man who is trying to make a break into the industry and a young girl who is trying to break free from her own chains. It’s sexy, it’s romantic, it’s funny and at times even jaw-dropping!
Dare, the male protagonist of the story, is a young man with talent for singing and guitar playing. He comes from the rougher parts of the city, but he is not ashamed of his background. I really enjoyed getting inside of his head throughout the story, plus he really surprised me several times – sometimes in a good way, sometimes in a bad way, but it was interesting to see how S. L Scott made each part of him fit the overall story.
Weatherly, on the other hand, is the good girl from a well-respected and wealthy family. She is studying to be a lawyer to follow in her dad’s footsteps. She is smart, loyal and opened-minded, which I really enjoyed about her. She was not afraid to give someone a second chance. Meeting Dare turned her world upside down. Together as a couple they had many obstacles to conquer in the book, but I loved seeing them work through each one of them and fall more deeply in love with each other.
A big plus is that this book has elements of some of the problems that are very current in our society. Personally, I always like it when authors shine a light on them.
Overall this book is a solid 4 stars read. I’m taking one star down for few passages that seemed a bit repetitive to me and made it difficult to me to properly focus on what’s going on in the characters’ minds. But otherwise, the book is absolutely amazing and I can easily recommend this!
Oh my freaking DARE MARQUIS!!! This book is a beefy, epic story of fate, passion and written like sheer poetry! Every word that Suzie uses is incredibly poignant. Jammed packed with ALL THE FEELS, every sentence serves a purpose to grab a hold and not let go. I was trapped for hours in this whirlwind romance that was destined from the start. I felt the connection from the get-go and it’s FREAKING INTENSE!
Two characters that would have never met without the love of architecture and chance. Now, years later, fate has intervened and introduced them again. Weatherly Beck (what an awesome name BTW) and Dare Marquis are fireworks from the beginning. From that moment on, they’re inseparable and nearly burned my heart down with their firey touch. I love a good rock-star romance that has little bad-element, these boys are quick to act, intense in the loyalties, and passionate with their loves. Every feeling is heightened, every moment lived like their last. Dare is no different, he lives for his passion of music, lives for the dream of creating music.
No one explores human connections quite like Suzie does with her characters and their intense loves. This is definitely what I love most about her stories; instant connections, unwavering devotion, undeniable romance. It’s magic to read, I fall head over heels every time.
