This isn’t the first book by S.L Scott that I have had the pleasure to read, and just like many of her others, it went off with a bang.
S.L has a way with her words that’ll suck you in from the very first page and Dare: A Rock Star Hero was definitely a MUST READ.
Dare Marquis is the bad boy rock star.
Sinful, Hot as hell, a man you lust over for years to come.
A voice like an angel but a look like a devil.
Those words that flow out of his mouth are ones that have women’s panties dropping to the floor the moment he opens his mouth. A single night with him would be heaven and hell all in one.
Weatherly Beck just may be the woman who can tame Dare. She’s beautiful, she is smart, and she has her life mapped out for her. Her future is bright and is ready for her, and is in hands reach, but that all changes the moment these two meet.
Weatherly wanted a hot one night stand with Dare, but what she thought would be ONE night, turns into so much more. How could it not? When this man is everything she craves and Dare wants her for himself, and himself only. He wants to be her Hero. Will she dare to take a chance on him? After one night, all her well planned out life starts to come apart and she is left wanting more of him. But can anyone blame her?
The heat and chemistry between these two was pulsating, addicting and all-consuming. Their one-night stand together turns into so much more. It was brilliant, it was all the feels and it was all the heat. As the book progresses we watch these two fall deeper and deeper for each other. We see different sides to each character and just when we think it couldn’t get any more intense, the author goes and throws curve balls and has me craving more of these two.
Even after the story came to an end… I was left wanting more. I loved it. I wanted to scream and beg the author to add more but at the same time, this was everything it should have been. The authors’ well-written words sunk in deep and had my mind was on overdrive the entire way through the book and Dare? Well HOT DAMN… He’s the bad boy every girl secretly longs for.
A MUST READ
FATE.
Weatherly and Dare meet in a bar where the band is having a gig.
She comes from the Westside, where money is no problem.
He comes from the Eastside, where money is always tight.
Two worlds collide. Can they make it work?
Weatherly is a beautiful young lady, smart, and has a life / future mapped out for her by her family. Until she meets Dare. Hot sexy singer in a bad boy rock group. They have an instant connection, and it’s great to see their love growing more and more throughout the book!
I really liked this story a lot, there’s a lot of connection, chemistry, love, sadness with the two main characters.
4.5 stars!
Totally recommend this book
I kindly received an arc for an honest review
There is just something about the way SL Scott writes a Rockstar Romance. I’ve been addicted to her characters since I did a full on binge read of her Hard to Resist series. I was totally blown away with her characters, but it was their flaws that made me love them. I’ve read my fair share of rockstars falling in love, but SL Scott’s rockstars? I got to travel that road to fame with them.
That vulnerability and drive to turn their music into something more, that is exactly what i got from DARE. Dare and Weatherly’s story is just the beginning for a new set of rockers to find their fame. And while doing that, they had a love story that moved me.
While Weatherly grew up with all the luxury money could buy, what it didn’t provide her with was happiness. Her life has always been about pleasing her father and following the life plan he charted out for her.
Dare has struggled his whole life. To feed himself, at a young age and now his music is making ends meet. But he strives to continue with his passion, music. His band mates aren’t just friends, but brothers. They have a support system and they work hard together.
Dare and Weatherly’s romance was a kismet kind of love. Even their first meeting was effortless. They had a connection that spoke volumes of how great a match they were. I was so drawn to these characters and utterly captivated by their story.
I’m looking forward to more “Heroes” finding their soulmates, all the while watching them rise to the level of fame they have only dreamt of.
One thing about S.L. Scott is she has a way of bringing out the secrets well out in a way you never expect. We have Weatherly who has it all and Dare who is trying to be something more. Two people, opposite from each other but music is what reacquaints them back together. I loved that we see snippets of what they have forgotten and seeing what they are becoming together. The love they have and commitment towards one another is special. This isn’t just about them but we see a band of brothers in a way they work together to make all their dreams come true. Really hope we see more of them by S.L. Scott, loved it.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
I dare you to miss this swoon worthy love story. It is a beautiful story about two people who seem like they couldn’t be more different. But they are truly meant for each other. Its a story about finding yourself and about being comfortable with who you are. I was hooked from the beginning and couldn’t put it down. My heart was so full. S.L. Scott has once again written a heart grabbing swoon worthy story.
Eleven-year-old Dare and his mom escaped an abusive home and, with his mother’s love of architecture, often found themselves driving past her dream house. A nine-year-old girl lived in that home and took them on a tour of the grounds, peppering them with questions all the way. Rob Marquis and Weatherly (Pepper) Beck have a significant history that unfolds step by step and when the pieces all fall into place, the emotions and the memories form a special fulfillment of dreams. Dare and his bandmates are finding success in the rock world with their band, Heroes, and are just waiting for their big break. Weatherly happens into the bar where they are playing and feels a sense of familiarity where the lead singer is concerned. She knows she’s seen his face before but can’t quite remember when or where. Similarly, when Dare spots Weatherly in the audience, there’s a flash of recognition but it’s most likely that she’s so beautiful. He doesn’t know her name, but he calls her Pepper and it feels so right. With time spent together, he comes to the realization that she’s touching places in him that he thought had closed off and making him feel things he never believed possible. Dare is becoming the man who shows her what love truly is and opens her life to possibilities that didn’t exist in her completely controlled home. Her parents had no idea what lived outside the walls of their estate and didn’t care to know. Their world revolves around wealth regardless of what it takes to earn it. Pepper’s dreams have changed and Dare is in the center of the change. Together, their dreams come true. Dreams that were written when they were children and find them again at just the right time!
What a swoon-worthy love story! This author always crafts the most beautiful characters and wraps them in romance and lovely emotions. Dare and Weatherly are fabulous! (Wasn’t crazy about their names though.) It took me a few chapters to get into the story but after that I was all in with this wonderfully written story about love, loss, connections, fate and class distinctions. A bad boy from the wrong side of town who is riding the crest of rockstar success with his band meets a rich good girl out for a little danger and fun. Their connection is immediate and sexy and heart melting with a tie to their past. I’m a sucker and a believer a insta relationship. So yummy! There’s nothing like a beautiful boy with beautiful words and the ones Dare spoke to Pepper were magical. Great secondary characters in Dare’s band mates and I can’t wait for the rest of the Heroes stories. Loved it! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
Dare Marquis and Pepper Beck story about a sweet girl and a bad boy rockstar. They meet in a bar, love and fate had their plans for these ones even though opposites attract, sometimes there is more into it all. I love rockstar romance, I am addicted to all of SL Scott rockers and Dare Marquis got a big check mark for hot book boyfriend. This book delivered all I loved in this trope. A beautiful 5 star read!
I think this author lady needs to do an encore. Weatherly and Dare come from opposite sides of the track, yet these two are truly wholeheartedly connected emotionally. Dare is one of those guys you instantly fall for, he permeates kindness and some amazing sexy words. Then we have Weatherly, this girl is truly amazing and strong. She sees the bigger picture now and wants to the right things in her life. GAWD I loved this couple.
Beauty attracts the eye, but the soul captures the heart

This is such a sweet story. Dare and Weatherly are swoon worthy you will fall right along with them.
Weatherly catches her boyfriend cheating on her and flees the scene and happens to go into a bar that Dare and his band are playing at.
When they meet there is instant chemistry and a familiarity about them. I loved their easy banter and the growing sexual tension. They part ways, but Weatherly wants more and convinces her snobby friends to join her, the bar is definitely not their scene but she doesn’t care, she wants an excuse to see Dare again.
Weatherly and Dare are such opposites. She’s from wealth and Dare has had to struggle and is now trying to take his band to the next level. Due to this it causes a little tension and drama between her friends and family and the new friends she has made. I hated April and her dad, although he did redeem himself a little in the end.
I did have a little bugbear though, I didn’t really like that the heroine was a virgin and felt that it didn’t need to be part of the story as Weatherly was always quite forward and knew what she wanted, she certainly wasn’t timid.
This is such a easy quick read, there is romance swoon galore and although opposites they are the perfect pair, complementing each other. I hope there will be more from the band, I want to know if they make it!

This is such a great story about 2 people who grew up in different lifestyles but are so in love that they know that they can conquer anything that is in their way. And destiny might also be at play too.
Weatherly Beck is finishing up her last year of law school and will be taking the bar exam. Her life has already been mapped out for her by her father. But Weatherly starts to realize that she doesn’t want to live the life that is dictated to her but is scare of change. When she meets Dare at a bar that he was performing at, there is this connection between them but they both are not sure what to do about it.
Dare has had a rough life since he was a kid. He and his band brothers are very tight and he is trying to make something of their band – Heros. Dare doesn’t do relationship because he doesn’t think he can offer any one much but when he meets Weatherly, he can’t stop thinking about her. She is constantly in his thoughts even though he is not sure he will ever see her again.
When Weatherly takes the chance to try and see Dare again, she is taking a big step of breaking out of the expectations set by others and figuring out what she really wants. Dare is always thinking about her and treats her like a person and not a possession. The two of them are so perfect together and Weatherly starts to become her own person while Dare comes to realize that he wants more in life than just the band and being a loner.
There are so many obstacles for these 2 to overcome but they are so supportive of each other that it looks like they will actually in getting everything they want, which is just to be together. When events threaten their lives, will they be able to stand together or will fear and outside influences tear them apart.
I love how Weatherly finally starts to realize that she is her own person and should do what she wants to make herself happy. And she finds out who her real friends are and who are the people that only wants to bring her down. Dare is such a sweet and loving person even though he doesn’t appear that way and people judge him by his outward appearances. I love that these 2 people fell in love with each other and then find out that maybe it was their destiny!
Emotional and sexy as hell. Highly recommend!
S.L. Scott has grabbed hold of my heart with both hands and hasn’t let go.
Dare and Weatherly are complete opposites in the life but their story, the chemistry and the passion between them is something that will keep you turning the pages.
Destiny, Kismet and Guardian Angels!
“Once upon a time, a boy full of hardships and bravery found a girl with ribbons in her hair who still believed in fairy tales. The words he spoke that day were locked away until she found him again.”
Beautifully written this book is jammed packed with every emotion possible. The lesson learned from reading Dare is to trust in yourself, stand by your beliefs and cherish every moment in life.
S.L. Scott is a master in writing matters of the heart, and this book will open up your heart and your soul.
WOW!! I am so in love! SL Scott wrote an amazing story with Dare! I am a huge fan of SL Scott, but this one is my favorite by far! I got sucked into this story and I could not put it down! FIVE STARS!!
Well, this was fun.
Here we have Weatherly and Dare, they meet just by chance in a bar and the connection is instant between these two. However, was this by chance? Is fate at play here?
I loved that fate was a key concept throughout this book, how their love story was simply meant to be.
I loved Weatherly and hated all the crap she had to deal with. She truly was surrounded by snakes and people who only wanted her for their own interest. It was sad as well, since she had such a bright light shinning, and I hated how they tried to put it out. But then came Dare and for the first time she saw she was worthy of love, attention, interest.
Dare had his own thing going on as well, he was great and had a rough life, but made it work. I loved his view on life, but felt heartbreak when he was himself as inferior 🙁 And then I loved how Weatherly never made him feel that way. Oh, if they could only stay in their bubble. *Happy sigh*
This was a lovely read, I swooned a lot and even though there were some ups and downs, they fought their way through it. <3
*Thank you to the author for providing a copy for which I’m giving my honest opinion*
This author continues to amaze me with every book she writes. The characters and stories she creates are incredibly beautiful and absolutely fantastic! I instantly fell in love with both Dare and Weatherly; their journey was heartwarming and left me with the most amazing feelings.
Oh my gosh! My fingers and toes are crossed that S.L. Scott takes these characters and runs with them- give me a series with all these guys, pretty please! Dare completely captivated me from the first full of youthful innocence page. It’s a tale as old as time…girl from the good side of town falls for the bad boy from the “bad side” of town.
Except, Dare wasn’t a really a bad boy at all. Yes, he was a rocker and lived modestly but he also had a big heart. It showed in the way he treated his band mates and how he honored his mother. And how he respected Weatherly. He just let her be herself. Express herself. Faults, hopes, fears and all. He didn’t try to change her, just encouraged her to do what made her happy. And she returned the favor. She didn’t try to change him to fit into the mold of her world.
I don’t know how she does it, but every single time, S.L. Scott gives me a hero more swoony than the last. Dare had that in spades! Their journey was far from easy. Heck, at times I wanted to throw something I got so frustrated for them. But I loved that they stayed true to who they were and wanted to be. Fate. Destiny. Kismet…call it what you want but Dare and Weatherly’s story was meant to be.

“”We’re a whirlwind romance.” “No, babe. We’re a hurricane in the making.””
With Dare S.L. Scott created another amazing addition to her rockstar romance collection.
Its easy to love characters and the perfectly paced slow burn romance make this book just adorable.
Dare and Pepper are a perfect match and I love their dynamic and how the just feel together.
“When I’m with you, I don’t need to hear the music. I feel the rhythm.”
Even if I had a great time reading the book and following those characters, I really do wish we would have seen a little more of the upcoming rockstar stuff and the trouble/struggle that comes with it. I missed the actual rockstar feeling. If you love this author’s other rockstar romance, I’m pretty sure you’ll enjoy reading this one as well.
“Beauty attracts the eye, but the soul captures the hear.”
Dare is a truly adorable slow burn rockstar romance that will capture your heart in a beat.
I absolutely loved me some Dare. S.L. Scott wrote a beautiful story about love from the opposite sides of the tracks. Everyone deserves to be loved without a dollar sign next to their name or tattooed on their forehead. However, for Dare and Weatherly, things are not only not simple, they are complicated to the core.
Dare lives life following his dream. Music. Music has allowed him to explore his emotions and put them on paper. They may not heal all his issues, but his lyrics provide him a sense of healing. Or so he thinks. Until he meets Weatherly and his entire perspective changes. He sees color and happiness in the form if his “Pepper”. She blew into his life and he’s amazed by the amount of time it takes for him to truly feel in a different way entirely. And sometimes, feelings and logic can be completely opposite and you start to question everything.

4.5 Serendipitous Stars
This author is one of the best at rockstar romance. Even with two series (Resistance series and the Crow Brothers) she always manages to make the new ones unique. It is not the same old cookie-cutter romance with different names or slight changes. There is always a freshness about her stories that draw me in. And draw me in she does in this story.
From the prologue, I was stuck like a fly to molasses. I thought I could see the story in my head of how it would go. But then there were slight things that made me question it which only then further drew me in. This connection was fire. If I had never believed in Kismet before I sure do now. Dare and Weatherly were proof that dual flames exist. They were love personified. There were some minor issues that I had with the story but not enough for me to say anything without giving away the plot of this story so I won’t.
Instead, I will say that not everything is as is it appears. Just read this book and enjoy the ride. I really hope that the author continues this and turn it into a series because I would love to see the other guys have their stories told too.
