NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The irrepressibly charming duo of Emerson Knight and Riley Moon returns in another gripping mystery by #1 New York Times bestselling author Janet Evanovich. Buddhist monk Wayan Bagus lost his island of solitude and wants to get it back. The island was about two hundred miles northeast of Samoa. It had a mountain, beaches, a rain forest, and a volcano. And now it’s … and a volcano. And now it’s gone. Poof! Vanished without a trace.
Brilliant and boyishly charming Emerson Knight likes nothing better than solving an unsolvable, improbable mystery. And finding a missing island is better than Christmas morning in the Knight household. When clues lead to a dark and sinister secret that is being guarded by the National Park Service, Emerson will need to assemble a crack team for help. Since a crack team isn’t available, he enlists Riley Moon and his cousin Vernon. Riley Moon has a Harvard business degree and can shoot the eyes out of a grasshopper at fifty feet, but she can’t figure out how to escape the vortex of Emerson Knight’s odd life. Vernon has been Emerson’s loyal and enthusiastic partner in crime since childhood. He now lives in an RV behind Emerson’s house.
Together, this ragtag, mismatched trio will embark on a worldwide investigation that will expose a conspiracy one hundred years in the making.

It’s got some very weird characters but it’s funny and interesting.
I have read other books by this author and when paired with another author that I enjoyed much more. This one was too predictable, and it was hard to like the characters well enough to be riveted. Kind of lame.
Poorly written. Stupid plot. No chemistry between Kight and Moon. Very disappointed since I’ve enjoyed the Stephanie Plum series.
I like Evanovich’s quirky McKnight and Moon characters. This was a fun adventure to save the world. They were off on location in this one, so I missed the Aunt and the crazy animals back home.
Plot was unbelievable.
The writers are fun and make you laugh. During my recent covid quarantine, the book was great to read and enjoy! Thankful for ebooks
Very interesting book learned many things about Yellowstone I never knew
Not quite the same level as Stephanie Plum, but good, quick read
New series to me. Fewer cars lost than by Stephanie Plum.
Really disappointing. I love this writer’s Stephanie Plum books and wish she hadn’t moved on.
This is a fun book with a similar feel to Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plumb books. A great weekend read!
Entertaining as always for Janet Evanovich. This is the 2nd book with the characters Moon and Knight. A quirky set of characters, off on an adventure to discover a missing island by way of government conspiracy! Not quite as engaging as the Stephanie Plum series, but still an easy and enjoyable read.
I have to say…I’m a geoscientist and there was a definite lack of research into this book. It pained me, I’m also sure if a physicist read it there would be pain as well. I enjoyed the characters (as I enjoy all Janet Evanovich characters) but the set up it hurt me so much. I was randomly yelling out NO NO NO (to the amusement of my family), I even came into work and told my colleagues (an actual volcanologist and his student, I am a geophysicist who is moving into volcano geophysics) and they were a bit flabbergasted. Some very quick, basic research could have helped with the simple things that were wrong. I’ll admit I did laugh at quite a few parts. I was also disappointed by the ending, it was rather abrupt, I turned the page and thought ‘that’s it?’.
I always get a good laugh when I read her books
As a fan of Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum novels, I held my breath when I opened this book, wondering if it could even come close to the sheer absurd fun of the Plum series. It does. Near the beginning, Moon is shoved over a railing at the Air and Space Museum, landing on an airplane suspended from the ceiling and Emerson Knight jumps down to rescue her. Mid-book Moon and Knight go into the wilderness equipped with little more than a book called How to Survive in the Wilderness. Near the end, Cousin Vern impersonates a Bigfoot.
This is a different series from Janet Evanovich. I like how she finds a way to weave humor in her stories. I like that her characters are quirky and fun. Emerson and Riley were quite entertaining, but equally so were Vernon and Wayan Bogus. Emerson sort of reminded me of Sheldon Cooper from Big Bang Theory in his seemingly endless knowledge of facts and figures. Very enjoyable book.
Evanovich continues the Knight and Moon series with all of the hilarity and mischievousness you expect. Continued character development of Emerson’s cousin, Vernon, is laugh-out-loud funny. Does not disappoint. A must read.
I love Janet Evanovich. I read a lot of her books. This series is no surprise with its quirkiness. She has a great thing going with these books. I am enjoying them immensely.
Ok So a lost island How do you lose an island? Well you will be surprised in this book. It can happen…….
So Riley and Emmerson are off on another of his wild adventures. I must say that I am really digging the quirky eccentric man. Some of the things he does, your like wow! No he didn’t.
In this book the chemistry between Emerson and Riley starts to simmer. Not really heat up per say, since they are really slow at the whole idea of a relationship thing. Maybe it is because Emmerson is well…how should I put this….He’s…well He’s Emmerson. What can I say? I mean he is an extremely eccentric billionaire. His mind is moving a mile a minute. Not to mention that Riley sees Vernon naked more than any one. Awkward!!!
In this book his monk friend Wayan was drugged while meditating on a desert isle. Then he wakes up on another island. Having been evicted from his meditation home by park rangers, he tries to return to his island only to find it completely gone. So he seeks out Emmerson to help him find it.
Not only is an island gone, but people are dyeing or going missing from national parks at an alarming rate. The government is hiding something. I mean islands don’t just disappear and people don’t just have a ton deadly accidents while visiting national parks, right?
This book was a wonderful adventure. I really am enjoying this series. The banter between Riley and Emerson is cute and funny. The things Vernon says cracks me up. He is a nut job. Emmerson may be an eccentric billionaire with a big brain, but he is Riley’s hero and I feel that these two will develop stronger feelings as the stories go on. I don’t exactly think that Emmerson knows what to do with the feelings or how to express them, but it is funny watching him try.
If you are looking for a little danger mixed with comedy, then this is the book for you. So pick it up today
A really good book and totally different than the Stefanie Plum series. Action packed and a wonderful plot. Interesting characters that you will like.
I like these new Janet Evanovich characters. I’ve read these first two books in the series and enjoyed them.
