From the outset of this novel, I enjoyed the hero, Miles Cavanagh, his sense of duty, and, his loyalty to his family. The heroine, Felicity Monahan, is a little harder to like as she has been allowed to run wild and do as she likes for so many years, that she appears to think only of herself. Underneath her crusty nature there lies a kind and giving heart, but Miles has his work cut out for him trying to reach it and win her trust. Their initial meeting goes horribly wrong and it seems that Felicity is a magnet for trouble. As the plot evolves, secrets and lies are exposed and finally, Felicity is faced with a difficult choice if she is to protect those she loves. The last quarter of the book has some suspense as Felicity plays cat and mouse with her tormentor, but it comes to a successful conclusion, stretching the imagination to some extent. I am quite a fan of Jo Beverley and the Company of Rogues. I previously listened to the audiobook version, but still quite enjoyed reading the eBook. Miles is a straight forward lovable Irishman fiercely doing his duty (and falling for the girl) when he becomes the guardian of Felicity Monahan. He fights an internal battle of honor as guardian versus his strong feelings for Felicity while also an external battle to keep Felicity safe from the man who would harm her. Complex Felicity is at times innocent and at others not so much, plus she is wild, used to doing as she choses, and willing to martyr herself because she lacks the knowledge of the real world and imagination to find a better solution to her problem. This story contains a touch of unexplained Irish magic that adds a bit of whimsy to a story that has some dark aspects to it. Cats oh wonderful cats!
This is Felicity and Miles’s story and it was super good. The villain was so evil and his ending and yes he did end was outstanding! He was a cruel and horrible person Felicity was a sassy lady and when set on a course did not back down and she meets her match in Miles. I just like the rogues and their stories this series has been so entertaining and a bit thought-provoking too. The main character I loved was Gardeen and his friends they knew just what to do! After reading Forbidden Book 4 of the Company of Rogues, I was intrigued by Miles and Felicity and their brief appearances in inappropriate circumstances. Dangerous Joy presents their story and the drama that was surrounding them. Miles Cavanaugh had his hands full with his new wild, unwilling and unconventional ward. With a sad story we get to know Felicity’s predicament and the options she was considering. As a member of the Rogues used to strange, violent and nefarious situations Miles took charge but even him needed help to deal with Felicity and her traumatic problem. But Felicity was not helping, and things were for worse. She was demonstrating no insight putting herself in further danger. Interesting the twists in the story, the mystery and how things were complicated and had me waiting for new revelation at the turn of the page. Complex situations with strong issues that had me thinking in the choices the protagonists have, what they choose and how the author makes it work. Each rogue is different, has his own traits and their women match them. Action, suspense, intrigue, deceit, some violence, cats, romance and passion. Voluntarily reviewed this book that I received free from eBook Discovery and I liked.
This was a story that kept my attention throughout the entire book! The plot was well-written and well planned with characters that kept me totally engaged until the very end!
“Dangerous Joy” (nook) was a thrilling read. The story was full of suspense and magic as well as love and passion. There was also tension and angst. Plus, I chuckled at some of the lighthearted situations. I loved the cats!!!
I’m on book 7 of the Rogue series, and so far, this has been my favorite one!
