Wonderful characters with off the charts chemistry and a twisted story to pull at the heartstrings!
This book was dangerous…to my heart! So many sexy times equal one happy reader. Lachlan is a modern scotsman. He’s romantic, speaks Gaelic, and wears a Kilt. Anna Durand knows what women want. The narrator Rinelle Harkin did a fabulous job giving voice to this amazing man and the romance between him and Erica. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can’t wait to meet her next hero!
Erica is a woman feeling she’s living on borrowed time after her ex screwed her over and showed he was a lying snake in the grass. She meets Lachlan at a naughty night club when she mistakes him for her very late date. They have instant chemistry. She very surprised to discover he wasn’t her late date and he’s living next door to her. He’s determined they will have a no strings attached fling before he heads back to Scotland in a month. She’s not normally a casual girl. And she’s not usually satisfied with her partners. They both rapidly realize there may be more to things than expected. Sweet, hot, funny, full of drama and passion, this story is gantastic. I can’t wait to read the other books in the series. Their trip to HEA is so satisfying. I received a review copy. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Wow. I just spent some time this summer in the Highlands and found myself so intrigued with the kilt, scots and the language. Then this book comes along and now I want to go back and see what else I missed. (Just kidding husband)
I received this as an ARC and honestly, my review is : BUY THIS BOOK! It’s a really great storyline.
Whew, where can I get myself a hot Scot in a kilt?! Good girl accountant, Erica Teague, finds herself one in a club called Dance Ardor, where she’s supposed to be meeting up with Cliff for just one night of being wild and free. When she finds herself having the hottest kiss of her life with Lachlan MacTaggart instead, her world spins on its axis and soon she finds herself giving into his proposition of being his American fling while he’s in the US for a month.
Dangerous in a Kilt has a nice juxtaposition of being both classic yet contemporary in feel. Lachlan feels like an old fashioned hero in that growly alpha, hot Scot with a brogue way, yet he’s nicely contemporary in his reverence for Erica’s smart mind as well as for her outward beauty. Erica is just plain awesome, she’s smart and conservative, yet yearns to be free and wild before she heads off to prison, or so she’s expecting if her douchebag ex gets his way. You see, her ex set her up to take the fall for his embezzlement, and she doesn’t have the resources to fight his family’s old money connections with law enforcement. Thank God for Lachlan’s insistence upon helping Erica, in more ways than just this, or she really would have found herself off to prison.
But, as their month long fling takes off, she finds herself falling for him, even though that’s strictly against the rules of no personal questions, no attachments. And yet, if Lachlan doesn’t do attachments, has no feelings other than just liking her for sex, why does he insist on calling her gràidh (Scots Gaelic for darling) and mo leannan (my love) all the time? Does he truly have feelings for Erica? Or is it just wishful thinking on her part? And why all the romantic embellishments like candles and chocolates, and better yet, the flowers that share her name (Erica cinerea – bell heather)? He’s a bit hot and cold with poor Erica and it drives her nuts, but she tries to keep her poor heart shut, her mouth shut so she won’t ask forbidden personal questions, but she’s only human and there’s no way her poor heart could withstand a hot, sweet Scot in a kilt who woos and seduces her.
If I could find a hot Scot who sexed me up the way Lachlan sexed up Erica, I’d fall too, the rules be damned. Thank God, he got over his fears and manned up and came back to her, because their journey to their HEA was about to drive me over the edge along with Erica. I absolutely love Dangerous in a Kilt, it’s so sexy, so sweet and charming that I am in love with my adopted homeland now (my adopted father is Scottish). If I weren’t already married to a hot Filipino, I’d be tempted to find a Lachlan for myself! Now, I’m anxiously awaiting the next Hot Scots book, hopefully it’s about Rory or Aidan, Lachlan’s brothers.
Imaginative sexy romance
Anna Durand has created another wonderful addition for her Hot Scotts series.
Rory and Emery are sizzling beneath the sheets but he’s reluctant to allow himself to feel any emotions. Emery a fiesty caring free spirit is determine to open Rory to possibilities of fun and love. The chemistry between them is off the charts and while sometimes painful to see Rory’s “coldness” to Emery it makes his breakthrough as a warm caring man all the sweeter.
I received an advance reader copy of this book.
This had to be one of the better books I have read. I really enjoyed it all the way through and it kept me guessing on what was going on with both characters until the very end. Loved It!!!!
I really enjoyed this audiobook. It’s the first of Anna’s books and the first of Rinelle’s narration too. Firstly I want to say I had no expectations of either the book or the narrator as I had no idea how this was going to go and I was pleasantly surprised.
The book has a good storyline, plenty to keep you interested. The relationship that develops between Lachlan and Erica is passionate but also has the foundations of a firm friendship too. Both are keeping secrets and ultimately there is an event that needs to be dealt to before they can live their HEA but I really enjoyed the character development as well as the story and relationship blooming. I loved all the Gaelic phrases and little Scottish sayings that were peppered throughout the book. They made the story feel more authentic.
Rinelle did a fantastic job with her Scottish accent for Lachlan. I’m a sucker for accents and hers was great! She easily spoke the Gaelic and bounced between the American and Scottish accents seamlessly.
Erica Teague thought of herself as a boring accountant, something she had pursue for security, not passion. Because of her insecurities, she allowed herself to be swept off her feet by Presley Cichon, the son of the richest family in town and senior partner in the accounting firm she works for, only to find out that he planted evidence on her work computer to frame her for his embezzlements. Now out on bail and expecting to be sentence for a crime she did not commit, she decides to go wild and meet a man from a dating app at a Chicago underground club. Her date is a no-show but she mistakingly thinks her neighbors’ house guest is her date. Gorgeous Highlander, Lachlan MacTaggart switched homes with her neighbors to experience 1 month in America. Now he wants Erica to be his American fling. He has been hurt and will never do a relationship again. He can offer her hot sex and companionship but no relationship. Facing jail time, Erica agrees, but she is not the casual sex kind of girl. Will Erica be able to clear her name with the help of her pro bono lawyer? Will she have the courage to tell Lachlan why she gets so sad? After a month, will Lachlan really be able to leave Erica?
The plot is engaging and the characters endearing. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
I received a free copy and reviewed voluntarily.
This was the first of Anna Durand’s I’ve read and I was quite pleased with the writing style and storyline. This kept my interest throughout.
Both the h and H have had bad experiences with their exes, however, Erica’s could put her in jail. So they agree to a fling – no relationship.
This is a story of passion, with numerous explicit yet tastefully written sex scenes (not raunchy or vulgar).
Absolutely captivating, romantic and entertaining. I loved it.
A highland fling or true romance?
Lachlan and Erica both have their reasons for attempting a fling, made funnier by the mistaken identity of their first encounter.
But are four weeks of fun what either of these to really want?
Can they work past their fears, to find the truth in their hearts instead of the pain of their individual past and present hurts.
A steamy standalone story, that is also fun as a part of the fabric of the Clan MacTaggart.
I initially received this story in an advanced read copy.
In my opinion, the MacTaggarts are a clan Bonnie and Bra’!
As much steamy fun as smoky Scots a Whisky from the Isle of Skye!
Sexy as hell. Looking forward to the next book!
A fun, entertaining read.
I read this title in the boxed set of books #1-3 in this series.
Who doesn’t love a man in a kilt? Certainly not me or these three heroines. Strong, sassy women and hunky, kilted Scots are written in a way of capturing and holding your attention with fascinating and steamy storylines. The character development in #3, Scandalous in a Kilt, is engrossing and thought-provoking… and yes steamy.
This is my first time reading/listening to Anna Durand. This was also my first time listening to Rinelle Harkin.
I can’t pinpoint why and I have no clear objection to her narration – I just didn’t click with Harkin’s performance for some reason. So I opted to finish the book by reading it. I’m definitely willing to try out another work of hers and see if it’s just a one-off for some reason.
This is a good book when in the mood for a lot of steamy sex scenes making up a bulk of the story. While not particularly risqué/graphic, the proportion made this feel more like erotica than romance. Not a complaint, just an FYI.
Erica & Lachlan enter into a “no personal details” month-long fling while he’s visiting the US & she’s awaiting trial for a crime she didn’t commit. Since the story is all from Erica’s POV and they’ve agreed to a “keep it light and don’t share too much” arrangement – I didn’t really get to know Lachlan as well as I would have liked to. He definitely knows how arrange some lovely dates and brings the protective nature against Erica’s ex.
Overall, it was a fun read and I’ll definitely be reading/listening to the rest of the series.
I own the ebook. However, for full disclosure, I won a copy of the Hot Scots/MacTaggart Brothers trilogy in audiobook from a contest on Durand’s Twitter.
Now if only men and women cod interact this openly, why is it so hard to lust for another, w/o being crude???
Nothing going on, to slow,no thrills
