No secret stays buried forever.
When a torrential rainstorm uncovers a hidden corpse, small-town reporter Leah Nash is called in to cover the story.
The body is identified as Sister Mattea Riordan. Leah knew her. She was a nun who worked as an administrator at DeMoss Academy, the local school for troubled kids. The same school that Leah’s sister Lacey attended when she died in a tragic accident … when she died in a tragic accident five years earlier.
The property at DeMoss Academy includes a large woods and a stretch of bluffs high above the Himmel River. Investigators think it was from this location that Sister Mattea plunged to her death and drowned.
But that’s not the shocking part.
Just before she died, Sister Mattea sent Leah a cryptic message. And it had something to do with Leah’s sister…
What if Lacey’s death wasn’t an accident? What if it was a murder?
What if that same person killed Sister Mattea to cover their misdeeds?
That would mean the killer is still out there.
Now Leah is determined to uncover the truth.
Even if the killer comes after her next…
DANGEROUS HABITS is the first book in the Leah Nash series. Filled with suspenseful twists and turns, it will keep you guessing right up to the shocking end.

The main character is a bit irritating, not heroine type. However the story is good.
Susan Hunter’s _Dangerous Habits_ starts with journalist Leah Nash out in a storm watching to see if a tree floating down a flooded river will destroy a dam. Safety crews drag the tree to the banks in time, but in the process they make a grim discovery. Nash’s effort to report that discovery leads to darker revelations that set her on a personal quest.
I was impressed by the subjects Hunter addresses. As Nash whittles down the list of suspects, she reveals the sources of evil. They are as current today as they were when the book was written in 2014.
This was one those books that at first makes you want to pass on it but something just keeps you reading and you might even wonder why. Well, I kept reading because I needed to know what our main character(Leah) was going to get herself into to solve the mystery of her sisters death. And Hunter did not take too long to expose her to a death of her own if she was not careful or lucky enough. Nothing is what it seems as the plot keeps pointing her in different and frequently wrong directions. Stay with this one, it is worth the the read. Unfortunately, the last sentence of the book is incomprehensible. Do not bother going back searching for an answer about the door she knocked on and the person who invited her in. It has no meaning based on the the person’s name that is only mentioned in relation to others twice in the story. Annoying to say the least.
I love Leah Nash and her friends! I have read all the books and can’t wait for the next adventure.
Although I gave this book four stars due to some of the unbelievability of parts of the story, when it was over, I really missed reading it! I usually go from one book to the next, but with this book, I wanted to keep reading.
There was something about the main character’s drive to find out the truth that was appealing. There were also so many possibilities regarding “who done it” that I wanted to figure it out.
I will eventually read the second book in the series, and I would have, but I have so many books to read already, I will wait.
I just read this book and loved it! It is well written and full of twists and turns with a complex and unexpected ending! It is full of suspense until the end! If you like stories about small towns with colorful, well developed characters you should put this series on your reading list. Looking forward to the rest of the series!
I just finished this book and found the characters likeable and despicable as was intended. The original plot held my interest and I could not wait to find out what really happened to Leah Nash`s sister. But the book could have been condensed. There were too many offshooting stories from the original plot.
I liked it. Strange things do happen. Once you start it you are hooked.
The author did a great job. If you have some great stories like this one, you can publish it on Novel Star, just submit your story to [email protected] or [email protected]
Twists on Twists.
I read this novel of abuse at a school for troubles kids at the same time that Dr. Phil coincidentally had a program about a similar scenario. It was interesting to see how doggedly a reporter delved into trying to determine what was happening at the school. This was an okay read, but definitely not one that left me feeling good inside.
After reading about 1/3 of this book I was going to give it up, but after that it got very interesting and ended strong.
Good story with well planned plot
For me it was to long and involved.
East reading!
Sometimes you have to go with your heart and follow where the leads take you, regardless of what those around you think of what you are doing. This book has action and danger and lots of interesting characters. I thought it was a good, fast read.
The book has a few too many twists and turns.
Great story that keeps you wanting to read more and more with an unpredictable twist at the end. I highly recommend it!
I read this after reading the second in the series, Dangerous Mistakes. If I had read this one first, I wouldn’t have bothered with the second. It’s supposed to be a fun book, laughs, cute dialogue. I didn’t find it so. I found Leah to be annoying. She acts like a twelve year old. Not cute.
The blurb refers to strong female characters again, not.
Won’t be reading anything else by this author.
everyone guilty = too much, really didn’t like
