In #1 New York Times bestselling author Rachel van Dyken’s scorching series, revenge is a justified pleasure… If only he didn’t make her so hot—and bothered.
Jessie wants payback for a ruined reputation. His plan? Top secret. His hard-to-hide arousal for Isla? Not so much. Especially when they let down their guards and sneak a kiss. Like any juicy scandal, it goes so viral, so fast, that only a good lie can combat the bad press. Mortal enemies in a fling? No way. Um…this is love!
Actually…could it be?
Isla’s not faking it. Jessie can’t. As the game of let’s pretend gets real, Jessie forgets all about revenge. That’s the problem. His plan is already out of his control. Now it could undo everything they’ve been trying to build. Coming clean may be the only thing that can save it.

I’m still relatively new to Rachel Van Dyken but every book I read seems to be better than the last and she has fast become a go to author for me I really don’t know why it’s taken me so long to find this very talented and diverse writer.
Book 2 in the Liars, Inc series and this is Jessie and Isla’s story and let me tell you they have a real love hate love relationship add in the snark and banter going on between them and you get a perfect fun witty read. This couple are both very colourful characters who like to spend time hanging out with their best friends they hide their true feelings for each other with lots of snark and banter and whilst I’m talking about banter what can I say about Aunt Betsy who is Isla’s aunt apart from she is hilarious. Colourful characters with sizzling chemistry, hilarious one liners and plenty of witty banter help make this the perfect read but this book is also a love story it’s a journey the author takes us on as Jessie and Isla finally admit and except the feelings they have for each other. I laughed I screamed and i needed to get the fan out on a few occasions so I guess all I need to say is “you need to one click this fun easy to read hilarious book” …….
I absolutely loved this series!
Dangerous Exes is the story of Ilsa and Jessie, whom we met in Dirty Exes.
Their chemistry is like a house on fire hot!
As will all of Ms. Van Dyken’s stories, she brings you into a world that is fantastic, smexy as all get out and funny.
Ilsa is the the founding partner in the PI firm Dirty Exes. She has some scars from her past that make her excellent at her job. Almost too good! When she is hired by Jessie’s ex in the first book, there is some animosity between the two of them. This is a true enemies to lovers story.
Jessie is out for revenge, he is out for blood (even though he hates the color red). And he places the blame of his PR downfall squarely, even if unfairly on Ilsa’s shoulders. He wants to make her pay!
Ilsa and Jessie’s back and forth sparing is such fantastic example of foreplay! When they finally come together it’s epic! And you get to see Jessie and Ilsa as their true selves. I am just gonna say, their steamy moments…well whew, they are hot but they are also so sweet…there is a moment between them, and I am not gonna give it away but it may involve a shower, a hairbrush and a kiss on the forehead that just about made me melt into my lazy-boy!
The secondary characters are phenomenal! Some are new, some are ones we have met before! I loved Goo-Poh and I wish I had my own!
And what would a Ms. Van Dyken story be without a bit a twist that you will not see coming?!? It kept me guessing until the very end!
I would highly suggest reading Dirty Exes before you read this. Even though this is a stand alone, I think you would get so much more out of this story if you read both!
Fabulous story, phenomenal characters…who could ask for more?!?
This book was so much fun! More than half of the characters are kind of crazy so they make it interesting. Isla and Jessie are not trusting of the other sex. Their exes could be considered the equivalent of Satan so it is understandable when all they want to do from the beginning of the story is make each other’s lives difficult. They are both full of hurt and anger. Both control freaks and both very different in what they like. But she literary brings color into his life. She shows him how valuable he is as a man and caretaker. And he shows her that she is perfection even with her quirky ways. This book shows you there is a perfect match for everyone and that sometimes it’s the person you least expect. A person that will change you for the better and that will adjust their lives to make space for you.
Enemies to lovers are my favorite kind of romance! Dangerous Exes does not disappoint!
This book is funny, and sweet and all the things a good romance book should be. I really enjoyed it!
Thanks to Netgalley and publishers for a copy to read and give an opinion. PI Isla takes on ex footballer Jessie Beckett when his wife accuses him of cheating. Scandal ahead to Jesse pretty much losing everything important in his life, from the charities he leads to being tarnished in the papers..
He blames Isla. Determined now to cost Isla everything that is dear to her.
What did I like? This is a cute book… from Goo-pah and her headache teas to Isla and her fake engagement to Jesse everything is such a wonderful mess. Everything these two do seems to cause more mischief or mayhem. An enjoyable fun tale.
Would I recommend or buy? Yes, this is a light hearted book with some issues with Ex’s. Book two in a series so you should really read in order so you get the full experience. The book references book one a ton, so get both if your going to enjoy.
Thoughts for the author? Fun book, thanks again for the read.
SO freaking good! Jessie’s reputation was shredded by his ex-wife in the first book after she hired Isla’s company. They have never made a mistake before but when he was caught meeting with his divorce lawyer several time who just happened to be a beautiful blonde and was texting Blaire repeatedly they were convinced he was cheating. It wasn’t so, his wife was the one who was cheating but she turned it around and now he has lost his standing with the charities he was chairing and he is mad and out to bring down Isla’s company. Too bad they also have so much chemistry it is combustible and are caught by the tabloids and have to figure a way out and so starts the rumor they are getting married! So much fun and sexy fun and wait until you get a load of Isla’s crazy aunt.
Yep…. another great book! These books were great! Some really great moments. After his tough break in Dirty Ex’s, I was really happy that Jesse was able to get some love too. There was some really sunny stuff happening with these 2. Isla and Jessie both act really childish at the beginning. But to be honest, with everything that Jesse went through with Vanessa you really can’t blame him. And Isla was just reacting. I knew at the end of Dirty Ex’s that they were going to be great together but that Jessie was going to have a lot to overcome to allow it to work. Vanessa did a number on him, and losing out on Blaire to his best friend had the potential to do some damage of its own. I really enjoyed their story and had a great time reading about them driving each other out of their OCD comfort zones. It was a great story.
This was the second book in the series. In some ways it was better than the first.
There were the familiar characters, that you loved from the first story, and new characters that were so funny that they made you laugh out loud.
The romance of the story is great and it has a wonderful HEA.
*5 Stars*
Copy kindly received via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I loveddddd this book! I was so keen for this after Dirty Exes, but I have only just been able to get to this on my list of books to read. I sped through this one so fast! And I have been in a slow reading phase lately, so it was really nice to jump into a book that immediately captured my attention and had me speeding through it.
Isla and Jessie were awesome. Enemies to lovers is always one of my fave tropes, and this one did not disappoint. The dynamic here was fantastic, and you could tell that these two just NEEDED to be together.
It was very entertaining watching things unfold between them, and whilst there were some serious anger and trust issues, among with others, there was also a tonne of funny banter and scenes between them and the secondary characters.
Truly loved this one, and highly recommend!
Rachel Van Dyken has done it once again!! She has written an unputdownable novel, that I devoured in one sitting.
Isla and Jessie are two characters who are not meant to be together. They “hate” each other, are completely different and seemingly have nothing in common, yet, they are right for no one but each other.
The sexual tension within this novel pours off the pages. The connection between Isla and Jessie was hot. Every single time they were together, you could clearly see that they were attracted to one another, and were holding off on being with one another, despite their overwhelming attraction to one another.
“I hated his smirk more than I hated his body.
Because it made me react.”
Not only did this novel have sexual tension, but it also had a lot on hilarious, laugh-out-loud moments. Goo Pah constantly had me laughing at her crazy antics. Every single time she appeared in the story, I knew that something ridiculous was going to happen.
5/5 Stars!
Revenge….it’s the fuel that Jessie Beckett needs to take destroy Isla’s private investigation company. After taking on Jessie’s ex as a client, the sport star’s life began to take upon a downward turn. Accused of cheating on his wife, Jessie’s reputation shattered at the drop of a hat. All of his charity works a drop in the bucket now that the label was associated with Jessie’s name. The person that Jessie feels is the cause of that demise is none other than Isla and her investigative company.
Jessie decides to make it his mission to destroy Isla and her business. Everywhere that Isla showed up, Jessie wasn’t far behind. The sexy ex-quarterback was hard to ignore, even if he was bringing havoc to Isla’s life. This war of wills was a raging conflict, but one moment changed it all, their battle of wills so hard to ignore when the attraction between the two was so hard to fight. As the walls of their anger began to fall, Isla could no longer contain what was in her heart. What neither could predict was the reality of their situation or if everything was a just a game.
Dangerous Exes is the second book in the Liars, Inc series by Rachel Van Dyken. This story follows Jessie after his marriage crumbled. It is witty, engaging and left me giggling at the antics. The enemies turned lovers was an excellent story plot for Isla and Jessie. Both have to find a way to weed through the lies, and damage that played a part in the way they met. Nothing about these two is ‘normal’, but that is what makes this attraction unique!
When Rachel Van Dyken puts pen to paper, you never quite know what will come out on the other side. In the Liars, Inc series – comedy fuels the memorable relationships that grace the covers of these novels. Everything that Rachel puts into the reading world is full of interesting characters and an engaging plot. Jessie and Isla lead readers into the middle of their war of wills, leaving you laughing and rooting for the pair. Another great romance to add to your Rachel Van Dyken collection!!
I love this series by Rachel Van Dyken! It’s fun and I couldn’t put it down from the start! Who doesn’t love a fake relationship book, they are one of my many kryptonites. Ilsa and Jesse start off as enemies completely firing daggers back and forth at each other. OH yeah, I loved that. But once in a fake relationship, the two manage to go from hating each other to lovers and it was perfection. Top notch romance from a favorite author of mine.

Okay … I REALLLLLLLLY wanted to love this book especially since I’m such a fan of Rachel’s book. And Dirty Exes was such a great book and I absolutely loved it. There were some things that became a little bit too much for me and I couldn’t quite connect with Isla and Jessie. However, I was very happy that they both got their happy ever afters! And I’m still forever a fan of Rachel’s book, so don’t let this ONE review make you think otherwise.
After finishing Dirty Exes I kind of knew how this one was going to go especially since Jessie was sure to seek his revenge. And that little bit had me on edge the entire time because I knew it wasn’t going to end well at all. I didn’t agree with his little plan, not like Isla and Blaire were that much better (that’s a different story on its own since I think he pushed all his anger towards the wrong person … but that’s just me). So that little bit didn’t put any kind of halo over Jessie.
And little did he know who he was messing with. Even though I may not have connected with Jessie or Isla, I did love how fierce and proud of everything she has built with her company. This company is her baby and damn anyone who would try to take it away for her. And there’s where I admired her the most, she never tucked tail when Jessie kept throwing daggers her. She’s a fighter for sure.
I was pretty eager to see how things would end up between them, of course, it’s a happily ever after. But we all saw from a mile away that something bad was going to happen especially the more fire they threw at each other, the passion was rising between them and the tables were turning. Feelings were bound to get hurt and I definitely wasn’t looking forward to that downfall.
Even though I didn’t love this book as much as I wanted, Rachel is still one of the most amazing writers ever. She’ll keep you hooked and make you want to keep reading to the very end. If you haven’t read this series yet, start it off with Dirty Exes and definitely give this one a try, it could definitely be up your alley!
Major thanks to Skyscape and Netgalley for the advance reader’s copy.
Dangerous Exes by Rachel Van Dyken is the second book in the Liar’s Inc. series and a very nice surprise! I have to say I loved Isla and Jessie’s story so much. It was an enemies to lovers story full of chemistry, laughs and banter.
Jessie is mad and out for revenge. The ex-quarterback’s image has been smeared and he blames Isla and her company. Isla realizes she made a mistake, but Jessie is not going to take everything she has worked hard for away. Isla and Jessie do not like each other but cannot deny the chemistry they share. Now they are pretending to be a couple, nothing can go wrong, right?
I have been reading Rachel Van Dyken for a while now and I have to say, she never disappoints. Dangerous Exes was a great read that I devoured. It was fun watching Isla and Jessie fighting what they have and cheering them on. They were both great characters and I devoured their story!
Omg such an amazing and sweet read. Enjoyed every second of it. Full of humor and i freaking love Jessie. RVD never seem to disappoint me and this is another awesome book by her!Rachel Van Dyken
The world Rachel Van Dyken has created in Dangerous Exes is one I never wanted to leave.
He has one target.
Destroy her at all costs.
Only things never go as planned.
Especially when one has to lie to keep their cover.
Throw in a meddling family members and you’ve got either a perfect match or disaster in the making.
I loved that I laughed out loud during this read. I nearly cried too, when things didn’t go their way. I fell in love with the characters and I never wanted the story to end.
This is a stand alone story that could be read on it’s own, but better enjoyed if you read book one. Then you will get the backstory for this fantastic couple!
What an incredibly entertaining read!
Isla and Jessie’s story was filled with so much friction it increased the level of tension between them. There were so many times their contact little banter just had me expecting some delicious hate sex. I could feel that tension coming out of them…with every word.
These characters were the perfect opposites that led to a balance in each of their lives they had no way of denying. But they also had so many similarities as well. Both of them were extreme control freaks in their own ways but that constant clash between them only let those guards down and ultimately had them giving in.
I giggled and swooned and my heart ached for both characters. They both had been hurt so badly, who could fault them for being the hot messes they were. But together they were the perfect fit which turned out to be a great story.
I totally loved it!!
Dangerous Exes by Rachel Van Dyken is the second book in her latest series, Liars, Inc., . A spin-off set in the same world as her Wingmen, Inc., series, this is the story of two scorned women who have taken the dregs they were dealt in their past relationships and turned into a goldmine business that specializes in proving (or dis-proving) the infidelity of a loved one. The two creators Isla and Blaire are bombshell, take no crap women.
Isla is the target of Jessie Beckett’s wrath. Initially, he was a target for their company. Hired by his now ex-wife to try and prove he was unfaithful turns out she was the one cheating and was using Isla & Blair’s business to try and screw him over. But Jessie is a stickler for public image and his crazy ex is running his name through the mud and he blames Isla. Stuck between a rock and a hard place Jessie & Isla get talked into being in a fake romance by their two best friends, Colin and Blaire. It was a bad idea that just keeps getting worse as time goes on. Add in a crazy Goo-Poh grandmother of Isla’s and that public image is really taking one for the team.
Quirky, well-written, well-paced, angsty and emotional and sexy. Loved it – RVD is one of my must-read authors and this book did NOT disappoint. Enjoy!
Who doesn’t love a good enemies to lovers romance??? Especially by RVD!
