Charlotte once again amazes me with a beautifully written, attention grabbing book. Her words flow onto the pages and it kept me glued the entire time. I finished this book in one sitting. Can’t wait for the next book.
Exciting Read! Two people from totally different backgrounds, add controlling parents, money, a family business into the mix and Byrd has an exciting, drama filled romance. I enjoyed this story and the hot scenes too. I can’t wait to see if love prevails or family obligation wins out!
I thought the book was very interesting. The relationship between her and her parents and this broke guy that she had to have. Literally just finished reading it.

Dangerous Engagement is the first book in the Wedlocked Trilogy which focuses on Aurora Tate and Henry Asher. Aurora is a girl who has everything she could ever ask for, having very wealthy and successful parents. She lives life feeling as her parents don’t trust her to run the company and bored of playing the perfect daughter and friend. Henry is the complete opposite of Aurora. He comes from a very humble background, with a single mother, and works hard to get by and help his mom with bills. Although Henry’s aspiration is to become a writer, he works as a teacher and does other work in the summer, where he meets Aurora.
When they first meet, Aurora thinks she’s got Henry figured out but he surprises her when he shows her that he is not like the other men she’s met. She is curious of this man who she finds is clever and wants to know more about. Aurora and Henry spend their summer together and fall in love but not everything is roses and rainbows. They struggle with the disappointment of Aurora’s parents, financial issues, and disagreements. Aurora and Henry are from completely different worlds and will have their relationship challenged as problems arise with Aurora’s family, the company, and news of the man she is to marry.
Oh my!!! What can I say!? This was a good read that kept me on the edge of my seat. I couldn’t put it down and needed to finish it just to see what would happen. Henry and Aurora are from two different worlds, but love and care for each other very much. What will happen when Aurora finds out the truth about what has been kept from her. There are secrets and some twists and turns that made me gasping. I like this storyline and the characters.
An intriguing well written start to an exciting trilogy. This engaging storyline has unexpected twists, lies, cohesion, secrets, betrayal, suspense, and family dynamics that kept me addicted page after page. The characters are well developed and interesting and full of passion. I voluntarily read and reviewed this incredible ARC.
Very interesting and exciting plot – WONDERFUL building of characters. I love learning about Aurora – how she thinks and really feels about people. She lives in a world of wealth and privilege – but emotional she doesn’t belong. The great love story between Aurora and Henry – or is it? The book ends with a cliff hanger that of course leaves me wanting more. This book is well written, has a great plot and characters you will love and hate. Charlotte does it AGAIN!!!
I have to say that I have really enjoyed reading this series. Aurora is an intelligent woman who has an opinion that I find refreshing and honest. I honestly hate her mother and feel she does not protect and nurture her daughter like a mother should. She surprises me with some of the things that she says to Aurora and I’m taken aback with what behaviors she lets slide when it comes to men. Quite the cliff hanger in the end and I can’t wait to read the next installment.
have to confess the first part seemed a bit slower then I would have liked, but now I realise that the momentum behind it lays a solid foundation for what falls into place next, Henry and Aurora have found their ever after with each other you think, well the battle has just begun and the enemies are in plain site get ready for round two. I voluntarily reviewed this book.
Man you really know how to give us a really exciting story and this one does not disappoint. You have two people who fall in live even though they shouldn’t. She fights for what she wants but does she have it in her to keep it. I guess we are going to have to find out in the next book. Charlotte you give us amazing stories. Highly recommend this book. I give it 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader’s Copy.
The story started out well with Aurora falling for the guy that was working on her father’s yacht. The problem is Aurora’s parents do not care for Henry and then things start to happen and secrets start to come out. I really wanted to like the characters in this book but I had a hard time connecting with them. This was an ok read for me. For the most part, I like Charlotte’s books but this one falls short.
What an exciting start to these series.
A captivating and realistic storyline that one can relate to and emphasise with the characters.
Aurora finally find someone that helps her let go but unfortunately fate or is it conniving parents and a shady character that is Franklin. I guess even the strongest relationship can be tested if economic strings are being ruled by such.
Now that cliff hanger left me baffled with so many questions.
I can’t wait for Lethal Wedding as that title speaks volumes
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Just okay. Quick read with cliffhanger
I liked the blurb for this book but totally overlooked the ‘trilogy’ in the title. At about 75-80% of the way through I realized things weren’t like the blurb and things weren’t really wrapping up so I went back to the blurb and ah yes, there’s that word, plain as day.
It’s a rich girl/poor boy, world’s clash story. A summer fling that turned into more. The only problem was that I couldn’t find any empathy for Aurora and very little for Henry (& by the end I couldn’t find any for him at all). I couldn’t connect with them at all.
When it got into the whole contract marriage part it turned ridiculous to me. I actually think I might like the jerky guy she’s supposed to marry. But none of that will happen until part two and I just don’t care enough about any of them to read on.
A loving couple find life doesn’t give them a forever after. A must read!
An intriguing book. It’s hard to put the book down. Once you start reading, it’s a page turner.
Great characters throughout the storyline. At first you have Henry wanting to be a writer but the only job he was offered in NYC was a teaching job. During the summer time he works at a yacht club where he meets Aurora. She is on her father’s yacht with some friends. Her parents happen to be billionaires. So they happen to have their hands in Aurora ‘s life by paying for everything she’s ever needed or wanted. Later on in the story she starts to realize that nothing is for free. Meanwhile, she is in school earning a PhD.
No relationship until she meets Henry on the yacht. After he strikes up a conversation with her, she finds him intriguing.
This book brings so many twists and turns that it captivates you. Needless to say Henry and Aurora start out strong in their new relationship but real life starts showing it’s true colors.
I loved this book and look forward to the second book, Lethal Wedding. A must-must read.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
3.75 stars—DANGEROUS ENGAGEMENT is the first instalment in Charlotte Byrd’s contemporary adult WEDLOCKED erotic, romance trilogy focusing on twenty-five year old heiress Aurora Tate, and high school teacher Henry Asher.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Henry and Aurora) DANGEROUS ENGAGEMENT follows the building romance and relationship between twenty-five year old Tate Media heiress Aurora Tate, and high school teacher Henry Asher. Aurora Tate was raised in a bubble of wealth, and as such our heroine is completely oblivious of the world around her but a summer fling with the Henry Asher, the ‘hired help’ , gave Aurora a first hand look at how the other half lived. Falling in love had never been so easy until Henry loses his job, and Aurora is incapable of making ends meet. But not all is well behind the scenes at the Tate Media empire when Henry is offered a job in their crime reporting division, a job that will pull Henry away from the woman he loves. What ensues is the building but struggling relationship between Henry and Aurora, and the fall-out as betrayal and behind closed door negotiations force Henry and Aurora in opposite directions.
DANGEROUS ENGAGEMENT sets the background and premise for the author’s WEDLOCKED series, a series that focuses on power and control; manipulation and betrayal; secrets, lies and fractured family dynamics. The premise is engaging and intriguing; the characters are energetic and colorful; the romance is passionate and intense but will struggle in the face of preconceived notions, secrets and deception.
3 1/2 Stars
This is actually the first book that I’ve had the honor of reading by this author and I will definitely read more. I loved the twist that the billionaire in the story is a woman and not a man. I wanted to give it a higher star rating but I felt like there could have been more character development but maybe she is just building up to it. It is by no means a “bad book” so i will absolutely be reading the others in the series.
Modern day fairytale with all the feels. So many emotions brought put in this story. I loved this story so much. The past affects us all so much and to see how this couple overcomes obstacles is amazing. I highly recommend this book.

Main Characters: Henry and Aurora
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.
4 out of 5 stars
I was happy to see I am finally getting to read the first book of a series instead of one in the middle or end. lol This is a contemporary romance and it does end in a cliffhanger as it is the first of 3 books in the Wed locked Trilogy. Aurora comes from a wealthy family and Henry comes from a single mother living in a small 2 bedroom home. But they jelled somehow. However, things do not always go smoothly. This is a contemporary romance but does end in a cliffhanger. Desperately looking forward to book two.
This book was a real page turner with the great storyline and well created characters that as each page was turned Aurora and Henry kept me totally captivated until the turn of the very last page!
