This is the fifth book in the Off The Grid:FBI series. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this series by Barbara Freethy is phenomenal. Wow! It just keeps getting better. It is so very well written. Full of mystery, intrigue, suspense, a plot loaded with twists and this time a romance between FBI agent Diego Rivera & Tara Powell. Tara’s trying to find her friend/sister Bethany in Columbia and Diego is searching for his long lost mother and brother. Again I was so caught up in reading this book, that I couldn’t wait to finish it. Well done Barabara! You definitely know how to weave a tale of mystery and suspense, along with some wonderful romance. Now I’m curious and looking forward to reading Flynn’s story in Ruthless Cross when it releases.
Book #5 in this series. Wow, that twist I did not see coming at the end! Love how these stories combine romance and suspense because it just makes the stories better. Now for book #6!
Wow! Barbara Freethy has once again delivered an incredible romantic thriller with Dangerous Choice. Each book in Barbara Freethy’s Off the Grid: FBI series gets better and better. I absolutely loved Dangerous Choice, the fifth book in her Off the Grid: FBI series. Dangerous Choice had me guessing throughout the story as to who was behind the disappearance and the other thrilling events. I could not put it down. I loved every page. I really enjoy how the book is told from the perspective of the main characters. I love getting the insight and feelings from the different characters. Barbara Freethy has once again proven that she is a master storyteller. Dangerous Choice is the story of Diego Rivera, an undercover FBI agent and Tara Powell, a high school Spanish teacher. Diego and Tara meet at the church each wanting to talk to Father Manuel. Diego is looking for information about his missing mother, Camilla and brother, Mateo and Tara is looking for her best friend Lauren. Father Manuel is murdered at the beginning of mass, and Diego and Tara run from the church. Someone is chasing after Diego or Tara or perhaps both of them. They decide to work together to find out the whereabouts of both Diego’s brother, Mateo and Tara’s friend, Lauren. After multiple attempts on their lives, the relationship between Diego and Tara changes. Neither is sure if their relationship is just fueled by the adrenaline from the chase. Diego reaches out to Wyatt Tanner for help. Eventually all clues lead back to Los Angeles. I really enjoy the poignant and bittersweet moments, the plot twists and the surprises that I have come to love and expect in Barbara Freethy’s books and Dangerous Choice did not disappoint. One of my favorite parts of the story are the poignant moments that Tara has during conversations with her Mom and with Lauren. I loved all the secrets that Diego and Tara shared with one another. I love that all the characters from the previous books were included in Dangerous Choice. It felt like a family reunion and I loved catching up with the other characters from the series. I was also glad the Vincent Rowland’s revenge plot against the team finally came to light and I love how it was resolved. That was truly one plot twist that I did not see that happening. I love how all Barbara Freethy’s epilogues, wrap up the ending of the story and are always my favorite part of her books. Never would I have guessed how Lauren’s disappearance was linked to Diego’s brother, Mateo, that was truly a surprise plot twist. I love how all the lose ends got tied up. I love all the characters and the way she describes the locations in and around Colombia and Los Angeles. It was really an incredible story and I loved every page
Packed with danger, intrigue, and an unlikely couple brought together by fate. FBI Agent, Diego Rivera, and mild-mannered school teacher, Tara Powell, end up in Columbia each looking to solve a mystery that involves someone close to them. Little did they know that their mysteries intersect.
I love this whole series. I have been in a reading slump and this got me out of it. If you like Romantic Suspense, you need to give this whole series a try. So far, there are 5 books but #6 is coming soon! Happy Reading
This is the 5th book in the FBI Series: Off the Grid. I would recommend reading in order as they do reference characters and storylines from the other books.
Diego has just finished his latest assignment with the FBI. He’s decided to take the few days he has before he needs to report back to headquarters to continue his personal search of finding the family he lost many years ago.
At the beginning of his search, Diego crosses paths with Tara who is on a search of her own – to find her longtime friend who has gone missing. Diego has an instant reaction to Tara, and their chemistry is apparent from the start.
Will they find the people they are searching for? And what other secrets will they discover?
I loved this book. It is another awesome story by Barbara Freethy. I have enjoyed every one of the books in this FBI series and this one is no exception. I highly recommend it if you enjoy adventure, action and romance. I loved the story between Diego and Tara. Diego had a horrible childhood and was glad to see him happy. I look forward to her next book.
Love this series.
Dangerous Choice, the fifth installment of the Off the Grid: FBI series is so good and pulls you right in. It is an adventurous story of Diego, an FBI agent and Tara, a woman he meets while in Colombia. They realize that someone is after one of them after the shooting of a Priest that they were both supposed to meet and the events that follow. They go on the run looking for Diego’s mother and brother and Tara’s best friend. The story is action packed full of romance, twists, and turns leaving you wanting more. Another great book!
Dangerous Choice is exceptional! I liked the chemistry, action, and suspense. It’s a fast-paced story from the beginning. The action was constant to the end. The mixture of suspense and romance was perfect. I enjoyed all the characters, both new and returning ones. I thought it had a great ending. I’m excited that this isn’t the end of the series, and can’t wait to read Flynn’s story.
Last book in the FBI series and what a great way to end! Diego and Tara are both in Columbia searching for loved ones. While Diego needs answers as to what happened with his mother and younger brother, Tara is searching for her best friend who has disappeared and she fears is in trouble. They are both in the same place at the same time to talk to the same person when things go bad. They end up together running for their lives, looking for answers and just trying to survive! With the help of Diego’s trusted friends that we’ve met in the previous books, they start to find the answers they are after. They learn to trust each other and come to really care for each other. Their lives are so different and wonder how they can continue the relationship once the adventure ends. Another fantastic book by Ms. Freethy, who has a great knack for developing her characters and their relationships with each other. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving my review.
very action packed from the very first. Good character development. Just the right amount of excitement. I have been a fan since the first book I have read of hers. Great read.
Ms. Freethy has done it again. Just when I think her books couldn’t get any better, she comes out with another blockbuster. I have been hooked on this series from Book 1. The characters are well-developed and believable. The action is nonstop. I became so involved with the characters that they seem like old friends.
The friendships that these FBI agents formed at Quantico is the core of this series.
Diego Rivera is searching for his mother and younger brother that he hasn’t seen since he was a child. Tara Powell is searching for her best friend who seems to have disappeared. They meet in during an attack on a church by a drug cartel.
The action in this book is fast and furious. The twists and turns kept me reading well into the night when I should have been sleeping. I couldn’t put this book down!
I highly recommend this book and this series. I look forward to Book 6 in the series. The only bad thing is that I know the series has to end sometime…and I don’t want it to end!
Dangerous Choice is one of those stories that sucks you in and keeps you hanging on until the very end. Tara and Diego’s story is beyond five stars. I highly recommend it.
I love this series! Diego had such a bad childhood with being taken away from his mother and younger brother by his father when he was 13. His father was cruel to him, and he was hurt his mother never looked for him. I think it was a blessing he and his father didn’t get along so he was sent to military school. He became such a good man and built a family with his five other friends that went through Quantico together. He has never forgotten his mother and brother and has been looking for them. It had to be hard for him to get a lead on his mother and brother, but not trust the agent that gave him the lead. Was it destiny that placed Tara in Columbia in the same town at the same place as Diego? I can’t imagine what Tara felt like when they were in a church and guns started going off and saw the priest who was helping her find her friend Bethany shot down and killed. Luckily Diego grabbed her hand and got them out of there. This started an adventure with the high school Spanish teacher and the FBI agent where they get shot at, beat up, stole a plane, as well as other happenings. It had to be very hard for Diego to think his brother is involved with the Salazar mafia family, and then Tara realizing her friend may also be involved. This book is so exciting and has nail biting action. I loved catching up with the characters I met in previous books. I was also happy to find out who has been behind all the problems the FBI group of friends had. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book.
Open this book and the intrigue begins immediately! Diego and Tara are both in Columbia looking for answers. The priest, who has promised information to both as soon as Mass is over, is assassinated.
Diego and Tara, strangers to each other at the outset, are running from the carnage in the church. They take refuge in a cemetery, where they are attacked. Not knowing which of them is the target for the assassins, they decide to work together to get to the bottom of both of their mysteries. Tara Powell is looking for her best friend who was her foster sister. Diego Rivera is looking for his mother and brother who left when he was a young teen.
This is in the FIRST CHAPTER people!! What a page turner.
Dangerous Choice is the 5th story in Ms. Freethy’s, OFF THE GRID: FBI Series. This series follows the 6, now 5 people who went to FBI training at Quantico and became friends and allies. They have each other’s backs, always.
Not knowing exactly what they’re looking for, Diego and Tara’s hunt for the people they love soon becomes entangled. Heading back to the US, they need reinforcements. The Quantico group and their significant others are there to help unravel the mystery. Will the danger that stalked Diego and Tara in Columbia follow them to the States? Are they in danger from a mad man who blames them for the death of his son? Will they all survive?
Excellent writing and the pacing is spot on. Love these people and am so happy that this is NOT the last book in the OFF THE GRID series.
You miss so much if you don’t have the back story of the whole group, so I advise to read them all, in order. What a fabulous series.
A wonderful addition to Barbara Freethy’s FBI series. It starts slow, but builds to a huge finale. I highly recommend reading the FBI series in order because the characters show up in all of the books, but it is well worth the investment. One of her best series!
Barbara Freethy has done it again! Book #5 in the Off the Grid series, Dangerous Choice, will have you sitting on the edge of your seat.
Tara Powell and Diego Rivera both have someone they need help finding, and one man has information that can help them both. Diego Rivera is an FBI agent who just finished an assignment and is taking a few days to look into a tip he was given. He was told to talk to a priest in Columbia who might have some information on the location of his missing mother and brother who he’s been searching for for 18 years now. When he arrives at the church however, the priest is already in what looks like a heated discussion with a woman. When he finally gets to talk to the priest, the priest tells him he’ll talk to him after the service. Unfortunately for Diego, he doesn’t get that chance. Gunfire breaks out during the service and the priest is shot. Diego is standing beside the woman who’d been talking to the priest so he grabs her hand and takes off running.
Tara is a high school Spanish teacher who is searching for her best friend, Bethany. No one seems to think Bethany is actually missing because she likes to just take off on a whim, but Tara knows something is wrong. She had talked to a priest who said to come back the next day and he’d tell her what he knew, but the next day, he says he can’t help her. She goes inside the church, hoping to try talking to the priest after the service, but doesn’t get that chance. When the gunfire goes off, killing the priest, a man grabs her hand and tells her to run. After getting a safe distance away, she finds out the man who saved her is Diego. She doesn’t know much about him, but after explaining why she’s there, Diego agrees to help her find Bethany.
I loved all the twists and turns in this book. The characters are thrown into life threatening situations over and over again but because of their trust in each other, they always make it out alive. Tara and Diego work so well together, and the chemistry between them is intense! Once I started this book, I just couldn’t stop! This was another amazing installment in the Off the Grid series, and I can’t wait to read the next one!
Dangerous Choice (Off The Grid: FBI #5) written by Barbara Freethy is another book where she grabs you from the first page and keeps you interested until you turn the last page. Even though it is the 5th book in the series this can be read as standalone as with her other books in the series. You will definitely want to read the other 4 books. This is a very exciting and suspenseful story and has so many twists and turns it will have you on the edge of your seat wanting to know what happens next. This book has it all: Spanning the globe from Columbia to California, friends, family, lovers, FBI agents, drug cartels, revenge what more could you want! The characters are well developed and you get updates on lives of the characters in other books which is nice to have them show up in subsequent books. You will not be disappointed. I highly recommend this book and if you have not read any of Barbara Freethy books you should see what you are missing. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
i love Barbara Freethy’s writing and this book, Dangerous Choice, is just as exciting as the other books in this FIB series. This book can be read as a standalone, but I fully advise that you read the previous books in the series to get the most out of this suspenseful and gripping story. Each book in the series follows one FIB agent that were on a team back in their training days at Quantico. This story is about FIB agent Diego.
Someone has been messing with the lives of each member that was on the training team from Quantico where one of their teammates had a horrible accident that resulted in his death. The last few years it seems that suspicious things have happened to each team member that has put their lives on the line and brought out secrets from their past. Who is doing this? Why is this happening? Diego and his team are brought together to help Diego and his situation. Now that they are alltogether, will they still be strung along like puppets while following leads? Will the person (puppet master), finally reveal themselves and their motives behind all this revenge?
Order this book and the other books in the series and get caught up in the suspense and romance that happens for each agent. It doesn’t come easy, but there always is a HEA. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. I am excited for the story of Flynn!
