This is the first book I have read by Wendy Meadows and I thoroughly enjoyed it. If you love mysteries you will enjoy this book. Sarah and her friend Amanda get themselves embroiled in danger. With laughs and drama along the way what more can you ask for. I am looking forward to reading this series from the start, but you don’t need to have read the previous books to know what is going on

I have only recently begun reading this author’s cozy mysteries and I have not been disappointed in any of them. This one is not an exception either. As the 9th book in the series, there’s a bit of history these characters have. For example, why do they call each other the nicknames they do. Los Angeles is obvious but June bug, not so much. What nightmares? I did read one previous book and fell in love with the characters and have been in the process of catching up on the series because this is an excellent series. I love Alaska and the overall lifestyle of the beautiful state. Add to that the wonderful characters of the story and the excitement of the threats. This makes a great story and I have a new favorite author and lots of books to catch up on.

Amanda thought she would never see her nanny from when she was younger but now it appears the nanny has come to seek her unknown revenge on not only Amanda but Sarah, Conrad and others. There were some great twists, surprises and quick thinking required with this one and a great quick pace to keep things moving along. I especially liked that this being the first I have read in the series I didn’t feel like I had to go back on read the others to get everything I could still happily read it on its own, but now I am very intrigued by the other adventures Amanda and Sarah have gotten up to!

Amanda’s childhood nanny who was very mean and hurtful to her, is in Alaska to “watch” over her for a month. She goes to Sarah and Connor for support and they try to help her out. All the while, a huge snow storm and socked them in where they have to use snowmobiles to get around. Then her nanny arrives, some how. She is at the sheriff’s office and driving Andrew nuts. She is then taken to the hotel, and is shot and killed before she gets inside. Michael, another deputy is hit in the back of the head. Come to find out, it wasn’t her nanny after all, but someone impersonating her. But things are far from over. Bertha’s son is in town to get revenge on Amanda and anyone who stands in his way. He is armed and ready to kill to get what he wants to do. Can they stop him? You will have to read the book to find out the surprise ending. Did I just read a cozy mystery? This was the first book in this series that I read. This book read more like a traditional thriller in regards to the suspense. Amanda kinda annoyed me at the beginning as it caused me to tell her to be an adult. Why would she need a “babysitter”? Although this is explained later, I still felt as if Amanda was acting childish. I’m sure that was by design. have to go back and read all of the previous books.

A panicked Amanda shows up on Sarah’s doorstep after a trip to London. It appears that Amanda’s husband has hired her old nanny to keep an eye on her in Alaska while he is away. Amanda insists that the woman used to torture her and threatened to get even with her when her mom fired her over 20 years ago. No one seems to take Amanda seriously until Bertha makes her way into town during a horrible snow storm and proves that Amanda was right.
Before Bertha can plot her revenge, she is found dead and there is an even my deadly killer out there waiting to extract his revenge on Amanda. Can Sarah once again save the day before her best friend is buried six feet under?
This is a book filled with lots of intrigue, dangerous situations, and heart-pounding suspense. There is a wonderful dynamic between Sarah and Amanda as well as Sarah with her old partner Pete. As usual Pete’s assistance from LA helps Sarah stay one step ahead of the killer. This book is thrilling and I found that I could not put it down until the very end.

Allow a day for this suspense tale set in Snow Falls, Alaska in the middle of a blizzard. It all starts when Sarah’s friend Amanda’s husband insists that Amanda have her old nanny to look after her…
For most of the book, you will laugh yourself silly the banter between characters is priceless. The cozy was so wonderfully unique with nannies, drug dealers, army duds, cops, writers, and a very dramatic June Bug. You will simply love this one it is a must read if you like cozies and the end well you will have all the danger you need. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Sarah and her dear friend Amanda face danger yet again. This time, a threat from childhood comes after Amanda – aided by her unwitting husband, and her bitter father in law.
Twisted links to the past are lethal – and in this case, far more twisted and tangled than anyone thinks.
Bravery and a steady hand will be necessary to survive this mess.
Old partner Pete from LA has some suggestions as well. Less friendly ears might hear of a plan Sarah has for Pete – how damaging that is, remains to be seen.
Friendship, murder and mayhem – a typical adventure with Sarah and Amanda!

Sarah and Amanda love the snow; however, snow can hide dark things. Loved this book and the series. The characters are fantastic and very likeable, except for the killers of course. The setting of Snow Falls truly lives up to its name. Snow is one constant that Alaska has plenty of. This story puts Amanda in harm’s way because of a mentally ill nanny who hated her. Of course Pete is still there to help Sarah whenever she needs him; even if he is thousands of miles away.
This is the first book in this series that I have read by Wendy Meadows.
Sarah Garland “Los Angeles” is a former police detective from Los Angeles. She and her husband, Conrad, who is a police officer in Snow Falls, Alaska, now make their home in Alaska.
When their best friend and neighbor, Amanda “June Bug” returns from her old home in London, England, she brings bad news. Her husband has hired her childhood nanny, Bertha, to babysit her in Alaska because she and Sarah seem to always get into trouble/danger. It seems that Bertha was a nightmare to Amanda when she was young and mentally tortured her for years until her mother caught Bertha in a lie and fired her.
It appears that Connor Barker, Bertha’s son and her stepson, Robbie Nelson, have traveled to Snow Falls along with Bertha to serve revenge on Amanda for getting Bertha fired.
All of the police officers in Snow Falls become involved trying to catch this killer during one of the worst snow storms in Snow Falls. The book will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what Connor will do next and how Sarah, Amanda and Conrad plan to catch him. Sarah makes a call to her old partner in Los Angeles, Pete, asking him for ideas. He calls Sarah back with a plan and Sarah sets to work trying to make it happen.
As Sarah and Amanda reminisce about their past — fighting a deadly kid in Oregon; going toe-to-toe with the Back Alley Killer; Nearly dying from a deadly virus; Attempting to find out who killed an LA man and his two sons; the deadly model; the mafia; a corrupt FBI agent and now a Mommie’s boy.
You won’t be able to put the book down waiting to find out how it ends.
I recommend this Alaska Mystery #9.
This is a book that you’ll want to read while curled up in your favorite chair enjoying your favorite beverage. The plot is a little “out there” but never-the-less very entertaining. You will surely enjoy this book!
