I love Mia Sheridan’s writing…every single story is so unique. Danes Storm was such a pleasure to read!
Second chance romances are one of my favorites. Audra and Dane experienced so much in this love story. Tragedy & sorrow, love, loss, reuniting…highly recommend this Author & story! Loved it!
Another sweeping book by Mia Sheridan from the series I love and who introduced me to the beautiful and romantic universe of this writer. This time, I immersed myself in the love of Cancer :
” Fiercely protective and passionately loyal, cancer will go to great lengths to defend those he loves.”
It has no better description to present this book and its plot full of emotions and twists. I always think that there is no way for this writer to overcome herself but more and more every book she publishes, she gets this done and leads me to a deep literary hangover. Dane was first released in audiobook and I was more than eager to read the ebook.
Already in the prologue, she intrigued me with a breathtaking scene before presenting the best literary couples she has ever created. Not only because they both loved and suffered much in the past and they are equally hurt and marked, but also because she presents slowly during the plot what really caused the separation of them leading us to feel the pain with them.
Audra even with a great pain and sorrow manages to apparently move on with her life after her divorce and creates a small wedding organization company. Ironic, is not it?
Everything is going very well even with all the financial sacrifice she faces until some bad news breaks down her structures and she needs to make a crucial decision in order to be able to maintain her business.
Dane is also trying his best to move on after everything he has suffered from Audra, but by reviewing the girl who has always stirred his romantic and passionate heart, he will not measure the consequences to try to understand what really happened to them in the past and correct the complications of the turbulent relationship they lived while married.
At first, the book is narrated in first person by Audra alternating past and present, showing the way she remembers herself suffered with affection from her first love which made me even more curious to understand how a beautiful love ended up in broken hearts. All this made me connect very strongly with the character and when Dane enters with his POV revealing his frustrations, I fell in love with him.
The book is extremely well written and engaging as every detail is presented at the right time of the plot to show well as the basis of every relationship is the dialogue and companionship as it takes more than love to make everything work.
I loved the way Mia described perfectly the scene of the plane crash and the scenes in which Dane and Audra try to survive another storm that threatens to swallow them forever.
Fantastic.
In addition to everything I’ve experienced with the characters, I was still wrapped with Callum Scott’s song “You are the Reason” during the reading which helped me dive a bit more into this beautiful reading hangover.

AN EPIC ROMANCE REVIEWS TOP PICK!
“Life could change in an instant…..”
Mia Sheridan swept me up into a PERFECT STORM of emotion in this riveting second chance romance about love and survival amid unspeakable odds!! DANE’S STORM delivers on ALL the swoony feels and sizzling passion we’ve come to expect from this legendary author, which is gloriously heightened by an exhilarating plotline that’s chock full of adrenaline pumping adventure, blistering intensity and heartstopping danger!
THE STORY:
Dane Townsend and Audra Kelley were each other’s first loves who met shortly before college. Before he knew it, Dane was offering the aspiring artist rides home and they were sharing toe-curling kisses in the rain! Though they came from opposite sides of the tracks, they couldn’t stay away from each other, and when passion ignited, it led to a life-altering turn of events.
Despite their youth and their uncertain future, they vowed that their love would see them through. But they faced many hardships during their first year of marriage, including family disapproval, and when devastation struck their dreams shattered along with their wedding vows.
Now divorced, they have spent the last seven years apart, pouring their energy into their respective careers but never once forgetting each other. Then their pasts and presents collide when Audra must seek the handsome CEO out in San Francisco to iron out some troubling legal matters before she can launch her “one stop wedding mall’ venture in the warehouse he’d gifted to her when they were married. Seeing each other again stirs up old feelings—and fiery passions—that never died. And even though the tension between them is more tumultuous than ever, Audra gratefully accepts her ex’s offer to fly her back home to Colorado in his private plane so he can personally help her iron the mishap out.
But destinies can be thrown off course in the blink of an eye. And in a nightmarish turn of events, their plane crashes into the snowy wilderness, hurtling their lives —and their wounded hearts—into grave peril! Can they weather the worst storm of all together?
MY MUSINGS:
I have always been drawn to angsty reunion romances involving estranged couples and DANE’S STORM held my heart captive from page one! Ms. Sheridan’s extraordinary gift for writing a gorgeously nuanced story that embeds itself in your soul shines through in this enthralling page turner about a love that truly stands the test of time! The prose is beautifully metaphorical and lushly atmospheric, tinged with dramatic urgency, and the unfolding love story is ravishingly romantic and breathtakingly passionate.
Written in dual POV, with poignant flashbacks interspersed with the present plotline, this Sign of Love novel is a story of SOUL DEEP HEALING as much as it is about survival. And the fact that these MCs have so much shared history between them only adds to their rooting value.
The progression of this romance, beginning in their youth and leading to the present, was masterfully executed and really struck a chord in me. Gah! You can FEEL the irresistible magnetic connection between Dane and Audra down to your morrow as their love BLOOMED then tragically wilted. My heart just ACHED for them to find their way back together after all that they had endured! For despite everything, “not time, nor distance, nor a hundred unspoken hurts” had diminished their love!
Dane and Audra were always one another’s true destiny but then devastation struck early in their marriage and as hard as they tried these young lovers could not find their way out of the darkness together. In the ensuing seven years, they lived totally separate lives until this harrowing twist of fate causes them to crash headfirst into each other’s orbits again. The raw intensity of their tumultuous love is magnified even more as they must rely on each other for their VERY SURVIVAL! And despite the frigid temperatures, heat blazes out of control between these former flames as they try to stave off starvation and brave the harsh elements. But…eeep…being trapped together just might be a blessing in disguise because after all these achingly lonely years apart they have a shot at FINALLY reconciling their past, which could pave the way to a joyous new beginning. IF they can make it back to civilization!
But you know what? If I was gonna survive a plane crash and be marooned on a snowy mountaintop in the middle of nowhere, I would certainly not mind entrusting my life to a ruggedly sexy hunk like Dane! Sighhhh…this strong and stoic hero was so deliciously gruff yet gloriously gentle hearted, with a fierce protective streak— and an unwavering devotion toward his forever love—that’s guaranteed to give you giddy butterflies!
“I love you. In this lifetime and in any that follow.”
And Audra, his beloved “butterfly dancer,” is just so brave in the face of unspeakable adversity and possesses a beautiful, gentle spirit and aching vulnerability that endeared her to me from the start. Her life has been such an uphill battle but I so admired how, despite her ongoing financial struggles, heartache, grief and loss, she still managed to find a way to start again and never gave up on her dreams. If anyone deserves a second chance at happiness, it’s Audra!!
In addition to the central romantic storyline there is also a hint of mystery revolving around an old love letter that’s woven throughout that I found really fascinating! However, as you could imagine, after their plane goes down, the story takes a drastic turn with jaw-dropping danger lurking around every corner. I was on the edge of my seat many times throughout, flooded with anxiety, as this tortured duo had to somehow cope with their petrifying predicament. And as passion and peril converge, they find themselves walking a treacherous tightrope where every moment, every scorching kiss, could LITERALLY BE THEIR LAST so they better make it count!!
But…duh…this is Mia Sheridan novel so OF COURSE they get their epic HEA but it’s the death-defying journey to forever bliss that makes this story so palpable!
BOTTOM LINE:
DANE’S STORM is a spellbinding romance about two torn-apart lovers who weather the ultimate storm together!! I loved every single breath-stealing, tear-inducing moment and cannot recommend it highly enough!
A MUST Read!
This is a beautiful book!!
Every time Mia Sheridan publishes a book I clear my calendar for the day. The first half is for reading and the second half is for dealing with the book hangover I know I am going to have.
Dane’s Storm is a story of rediscovery. It’s a story of love started, love lost and love found. Unfortunately, love does not always keep us together or fix the issues or heal the pain. Perhaps the best way to love someone is to let them go. If you love something set it free. If it comes back to you it is yours. If it doesn’t it never was.
Communication is always the key. Opening your heart to things that are not said is just as important as listening to the things that are. Unfortunately, Dane and Audra have stopped listening, quit communicating and are left to handle a tragic event separately. The barrier between them has taken control of the love within them.
But as always with true love there are forces. Forces of nature, forces of meddling and the forces of people that have not given up on you, though you may have given up on each other. Forces that put you in a predicament which causes you to make tough decisions. Forces that come from the least expected places, in the most unexpected ways. Aww, the road of twist and turns, surprises and shocks. The forces that lead you home.
When you truly love someone, aren’t they home? No matter how broken, how drifted, how apart you may think you are, home is where the heart is.
As always with Mia, the tenderness and compassion she uses to bring tough subjects to light always astonishes me. She has a way of humanizing even the most devastating of predicaments. The emotion that she puts in her books is just as passionate as the emotion she pulls from us. The chemistry she creates between her characters is nothing short of realism. I know they are real, because I can feel every emotion they go through. From the joy to the pain. From the good to the bad. I laugh with them, I cry with them and I pray with them. And sometimes I break with them.
Yet, due to the talent of this phenomenal woman we are always put back together because that’s what Mia does. She strips you down, but she puts you back together, and then once again I am made whole.
Mia, as always five stars would never be enough. If I added all the five stars I have given you since I started reading you, it still would not be enough . . . because you transcend stars, you soar over galaxies and you always take me above the clouds.
What an absolutely beautiful story, just finished Dane’s Storm!
This was Mia Sheridan’s storytelling at its finest!!
It was a powerful emotional second chance romance with heartbreaking moments.
This story is written in dual POV going back and forth, from past to present.
Dane and Audra meet in school and had an instant connection. They became best friends and later fell in love deeply. They were faced with a surprise and choose to get married, which did not go over well with his grandmother. See Dane came from a family with money, although Audra did not. The young couple then had a devastating loss and did not cope well and ended up divorcing. Both were extremely devastated by the loss and the divorce and went their separate ways thinking that it would be easier to not see each other.
Dane’s grandmother threatened to take Audra’s flower shop and adjoining building from her stating that it was family property. Even though she has not seen or heard from Dane for 10 years she decided to fly for the first time ever to California and see if he can talk to his grandmother. Dane is extremely surprised to see her and after some discussions he says that he will fly them back to Colorado to talk to her.
On the way back there is a bird strike and their plane crashes in the Rocky Mountains destroying the plane. They would need to learn to rely on each other work together instead of against to survive this ordeal. This part of the story I could not stop reading I had to read till I finished……..crying thru it. The things that they had to face would break even the strongest person. Broken, beaten, and bleeding somehow they survived! So, what will the once happy in love couple do with this second chance??
As Mia Sheridan is best for an amazing epilogue!!
“You weren’t just my first love, you were my once in a lifetime.”
Mia Sheridan never ceases to amaze me! Dane’s Storm is such a beautifully written, touching and emotional second chance romance.
Dane and Audra had a once in a lifetime love. A young love that was passionate, all-consuming and meaningful. They were drawn to each other immediately and their connection was instant. Both come from two different worlds as Dane’s family is extremely wealthy and powerful while Audra’s family is the exact opposite. Despite Dane’s grandmother’s disapproval, he and Audra married. Unfortunately a devastating event occurs which led to the demise of their relationship.
Fast forward to several years later when Audra learns that Dane’s grandmother is attempting to sell her building (Dane gave it to her while they were married) where she runs her flower shop. Audra has poured her blood, sweat and tears into her successful business and if she loses it, she will literally have nothing. Audra will do anything to keep her business and has no choice but to seek Dane out and meet with him. Even though they haven’t seen each other in years, their attraction to each other and chemistry was undeniable. It was like watching a candle that never lost its flame. After they meet, something major happens and man oh man is this a HUGE plot twist and major test for them. Reading about them rediscovering their love was powerful, amazing and heartwarming. Both of them possessed an incredible amount of strength and I was in awe of them.
Mia Sheridan really outdid herself with Dane’s Storm. If you are looking for a fantastic and well written story about love, faith and perseverance, then I highly recommend reading Dane’s Storm.
This is truly an honour to read an advanced copy of one of Mia Sheridan’s stories. I always anticipate them and she never disappoints. This 5 star story had all the feels to make me fall in love with these great characters.
Audra and Dane share a past that is filled with sorrow and heartbreak. After quite a few years later they come face to face. Old feeling resurfaced. They thought they had gotten over each other but one look at each other, it brought it all back. Now they are faced with danger and death. They will get a second chance to make it right.
This was an amazingly brilliant written story that latched itself to my heart and didn’t let up until the story ended. Even then I kept replaying it in my mind. Full of adventure, surprise twist and heartfelt moments.
Standalone told in a dual POV with an HEA. I strongly recommend this story.
“Forget everyone else, my sweet butterfly dancer. You were mine, even then. Before I ever met you.”
Dane’s Storm is a beautiful contemporary romance by one of my favorite authors. I love second-chance romance, so I was extra excited about this book. If you read the blurb, you know that the main characters were married. I was curious about why their marriage didn’t work out. I was happy that the past was shown in flashbacks instead of the story being broken into two parts. There were young when they went through some very difficult times, and they didn’t know how to handle it. It broke my heart to read those flashbacks, but some of the scenes also brought a smile to my face. The author does such a great job in creating amazing romance stories, and she reinvents herself each time. She doesn’t recycle her stories, each one feels fresh and original.
I enjoyed how the story progressed and was satisfied with their reunion. There was no animosity between them, and they were very respectful to each other. It is obvious that they both still have very strong feelings for one another. This story is also part survival romance (which is a subgenre I love!), they were stranded on a mountain and injured. I loved seeing how they took care of each other, and finally were able to bring down the walls they had built around themselves. Especially, Audra kept most of her feelings hidden from Dane which was one of the reasons why they didn’t work out. There was plenty of character development and I enjoyed seeing these two people heal and come back together again. I just wanted this story to be a chapter or two longer, I felt like the ending was a little bit rushed. I wanted to see more of them as a couple back in the normal world.
I got pulled into this incredible love story right from the start. Audra is this stoic, tough woman that is working hard to make ends meet. The flashbacks show us that she had an amazing love in her life, Dane, but that it all fell apart and now she is on her own. When her livelihood is threatened, she has to reach out to Dane to protect it. What Audra doesn’t expect is for all those feelings she had for Dane to be right there, as if they had never been apart, from the first moment she sees him again. But she has constructed very strong walls following the demise of their marriage. Dane is shocked to see Audra at his office yet at the same time excited by the possibilities. As they head back to Colorado to save her business, the unthinkable happens and the crash in the Rocky Mountains. Suddenly, they have to figure out to get work through all the hurt and find a way to trust and rely on each other again. Will they be able to survive? Is there a chance that a love that had burned so bright can be found again? Truly a moving, gut wrenching, beautiful romance. There is a point in the story that once I got to it, I couldn’t put the book down, no matter how early in the morning it had become. I needed to know what would happen as my heart pounded and the tears fell for all the trials they faced, both physical and emotional. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
I went into Dane’s Storm without reading anything about it. The emotion of the story really caught me by surprise.
“You weren’t just my first love, you were my once in a lifetime.”
What Dane and Audra go through had me chewing off my nails!! But what an amazing story! And the narrators really brought the drama to life for me!
