Formerly published as Sugarwater Ranch. She couldn’t leave the idiot there to die!But what was she going to do with a half-frozen cowboy? Dancing Creek Bar manager, Catherine Silvera, stared at the waterlogged, unconscious man sleeping in the only vehicle left in the parking lot, his Stetson crushed beneath his head. Did she know him? At three a.m. the other employees and patrons were gone. Her … beneath his head.
Did she know him?
At three a.m. the other employees and patrons were gone. Her first inclination was to leave him to sober up. But the temperature was dropping faster than Wiley Coyote’s anvil.
Her second thought was to call the sheriff. Her hand hovered over the cell phone.
But, she recognized the cowboy. This man had helped her years ago, when she couldn’t help herself.
The smell of liquor filled the interior of the truck. Drunks were above her pay grade, but she owed him.
It would only take a few minutes to repay his kindness then make tracks like a coyote-shy rabbit with hot breath on her tail.
You’ll love this contemporary rodeo romance because sometimes old dogs do learn new tricks.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
In the first book of this series, Tied to a Dream, I really didn’t like Sean. I figured the author would really have to work hard to get me to change my opinion of him. Well she did change my mind. With the help of a dual POV format, seeing Sean’s thoughts really helped me to understand him better. I loved Catherine. With her spirit and grit, she was a wonderful female protagonist.
The plot in this book was wonderful. Seeing Junior’s (Catherine’s cousin) special ability to read auras and how he was so protective of his father and cousin was great to see. It was a joy to see how one man’s journey from the lowest point of his life turned around with meeting a special lady.
I really enjoyed seeing Frannie and Rob from the first book make several appearance in this one. I hope that these characters make an appearance in the next book as I would love to see more of them.
Family Friction and Growing Up!!
This series needs to be read in order. Not a problem as it is excellent!! We get the viewpoint/story of the younger brother Sean. Too much drinking and carousing puts Sean on everyone’s bad side. Except for Catherine, who he rescued at an earlier time. It is her turn to return the favor.
Family can be chosen and not just run in your blood. Incredible journey of struggle and romance.
*** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book ***
Sean O’Connell’s life is out of control. Anger and regret have driven him to unwise choices, that have resulted in him losing almost everything due to his increasing need for a drink. Catherine has had her share of sorrow, especially those that are alcohol-related. When she finds Sean asleep in his truck in the parking lot of the Dancing Creek Bar, she hesitates to investigate until she recalls that he once stood up for her, keeping her safe. With a cold front approaching, she knows that she has to help him, but she does so grudgingly. Sean obsession with rodeo and strong drink don’t go well together, but winning Catherine over becomes an incentive to pull his life together. To a large extent, I was unable to relate to the story as the lifestyle of the small town characters is outside of my South African experience, nevertheless, I do understand the concept of needing a catalyst to turn one’s life around. There is more to the story than boy meets girl, as there are other parties that would like to see Sean fail. There is also a suspenseful side to the book with a mystery to be solved. Although this novel is part of a series and characters from other books appear in this one too, it is nevertheless a standalone and comes to a positive and happy conclusion. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
