Reunion Prom? Is this really a thing? In Wishful it is. Lexi Morales never imagined her life would turn into the premise for an 1980s teen movie. But when her big high school trauma hit like a ton of bricks, she spent the next decade trying to hide the truth. After years of careful avoidance, she’s back in town to care for her injured mother, just in time for the high school reunion she never … reunion she never planned to attend—a reunion that evokes memories she’s tried to forget.
Wishful’s friendly neighborhood photographer, Zach Warren, has no idea why he and his best friend drifted apart. But from the first, flashbulb moment he sees Lexi all grown up, she’s all he can think about—and his thoughts keep straying right out of the friendzone.
Zach’s offer of temporary employment while she’s in town should be a perfect fit, but acting like she’s never thought of him as more than a friend turns out to be harder than Lexi ever expected. All she wants to do is get through this with her secret—and her heart—intact. One thing’s for sure: Lexi is NOT going to this prom.
But what if ten years is just the right amount of time for Zach to finally get a clue?

Another visit to Wishful is always fun. It was nice to touch base with some characters from past books. While this was a nice little read I felt that the characters and story weren’t as well developed as I’m used to. The wholes story felt a bit rushed. Not bad, just not one of my favorites from Wishful.

Enjoy reading Kait Nolan stories. Read for pleasure and always find that in her books. They never last long enough though.
Plausible stories with happy endings that always incorporate other Wishful faves.

This book was a sweet second chance book, but I would have liked to see more of a development in the characters relationship. It seemed that it they both just kept fighting the attraction and then all of a sudden they were together and the story ended.
Dancing Away with My Heart is the twelfth book in the Wishful Romance series, but could be read as a stand alone. Lexi has been avoiding Zach for the past ten years, but when she’s back in Wishful helping her mom, she can’t resist their old friendship. Zach is starting to see his old BFF in a new light, as a woman who might steal his heart, but she’s hiding one secret from him and she’s not sure she’s open to be vulnerable again. Can Zach convince her to stay and take a chance on him?
Oh my, this is a short and sweet romance, but I was so thrilled to be back in Wishful and I loved every second I spent reading this book. I felt so much for Lexi, and poor Zach just seemed oblivious more often than not, but I loved watching them crash together in some of the best of ways. Lexi is a quiet romantic, with a heart full of hope that she tries to squash down for life’s realities. Zach just seemed like such a cheerful person, I loved how sweet he was and how quickly he realized that Lexi was meant to be someone special for him. Plus, I loved the background happenings of the reunion prom and their business partnership! I felt so much emotion with this book, I even cried briefly, but my heart was mostly full for these characters trying to find their first chance at love!
There just aren’t any words to explain how very much I love Wishful. I don’t care if the stories are long or short, I want to read all of them. Zach and Lexi are adorable and tragic together. High school best friends that maybe could have been more at the time if one of them hadn’t been a blithering idiot. I loved watching Zach as he started realizing what he’s been missing in his life. But it hurt my heart every time the pair of them retreated behind their defenses rather than own up to their feelings. I know I’ve made it to the end of this part of their story, but I hope this isn’t the last we’ll read about Zach and Lexi.

This delightful story brings up a lot of memories from our teenage years. Prom though a happy memory for most was a time of angst and disappointment for some. The idea of a “do over” is intriguing. Second chance with a HEA.

Nice story about going back home and reconnecting with an old crush. The photography angle added a unique element. Nice, easy beach read.

Love all of Kait Nolan’s books especially the Wishful Series.
This was a great read & and didn’t want to put down until finished.
Can Lexi & Zach renew their friendship & face their fears of 10 years?

Spoilers* In high school Lexi asked her best friend to prom wanting more. Zach thought it was a joke. Lexi left after high school only returning 10 years later when her mother needed help. It turns out she’ll be home for the class reunion and they’re holding a reunion prom. Lexi still feels humiliated all this time later.
Zach is the quintessential clueless boy and still clueless as a man. He sees Lexi back in town and WOW now he wants more. He has no clue about what he did in high school to hurt her feelings. As they work together in the photography business and spend time together, will Zach and Lexi figure out they’re crazy for each other or let past hurts and fears keep them apart? Enjoyable fast read.

“Dancing Away with My Heart” by Kait Nolan is a short story I started one evening and finished in the middle of that night when I couldn’t sleep. It is a wonderful, emotional story of friends to lovers, second chances, forgiveness and healing, and reconnecting to your roots in the loving arms of family and friends in a small town. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. But that is always my expectation when reading a Kait Nolan story. She hasn’t disappointed me yet!

A great read from beginning to end. I didn’t want to stop reading. A believable look at friendships and how they can change direction.
kate’s writing is amazing .. she grabs your attention from the very beginning to the very end ..
High school is traumatic enough without humiliating yourself to your best friend. The worse part, he’s clueless. She left town and their friendship hasn’t been the same. Now, almost a decade later, she’s back and she realizes how much she has missed him.
Seeing Lexi again after all this time caught Zach off guard. He finds himself drawer to her and not as a best friend. But she’s keeping him at arm’s length and he came figure out why. When his friends share their insight, he suddenly realized how clueless he’s been. But is it too little too late?
I loved this story. It’s a quick read. And that’s good, because I couldn’t put it down. Love Wishful and love Lexi and Zach’s story!!

Eek I just finished reading ‘Dancing Away with My Heart’ and I don’t know how she does it but each time I love the book I am reading even more than the last. My only complaint was that it wasn’t long enough! Even though it was short, the plot line wasn’t rushed or forced as some writer tend to do. Her characters are so well developed that you feel like they are your best friends. I love how with each book you get to meet all of your old friends again and check in on their lives. This book was a roller coaster and I felt all of the emotions that the characters were feeling; my chest got tight, I teared up, I cheered and I was sad. Thanks for another visit to Wishful Kait!
