Eloise has done her best to play the dutiful stepdaughter, taking on the work of her departed mother and running the household and looking after her useless stepbrothers. However, when her stepfather announces she’ll be married before summer—to a man she’s never met—she’s determined to fight it. Of course, in between battling her stepfather’s plans, Eloise has other things to keep her busy. … busy. Planning for the spring ball and looking after her ever-growing animal sanctuary. With the help of Bennett, the stablehand, she has nursed and raised everything from a baby owl to a rather naughty parrot. Much to her stepfather’s disgust.
Charles, the newly minted Earl of Marlton, always knew he’d be married within months of inheriting the title. Having returned home from his studies in France, he was prepared to be the dutiful heir and take on everything that being an earl entailed—including marrying a wealthy, attractive, well-bred woman. Lord Fairfax has promised his stepdaughter was just that. He’s fully prepared to wed the woman he’s never met by summer.
Until he meets her that is.
Eloise is nothing like the poised, elegant and controlled woman he thought she’d be. Beautiful, yes, even with a damned parrot sitting on her shoulder, but hardly marchioness material. However, her wealth and connections, and his commitment to spend time with her family ensures he must stay. And perhaps he could consider himself a little intrigued by her. Unfortunately for Charles, he cannot seem to get close enough to her to find out more, especially when she keeps running off with the stablehand.
Can he persuade her he’s more than a stuffy lord, interested in only her wealth? And does he really want to compete with a stablehand and a menagerie of animals? All he knows is the more time he spends with her, the more he’s convinced it might well be worth it.
Dance With Me At Midnight is a 25,000 word sweet, clean novella.

Wonderful read
Reminiscent of Cinderella but instead of wicked step sisters it was step brothers. Adam and David are twins and truly horrible all the way around. Unbeknownst to Eloise her stepfather has arranged a marriage for her to the earl of Marlton. Upon the Earl’s first meeting with Lady Eloise Cinclair he realized she wasn’t quite what her father said she was. He must have thought he had wondered into bedlam with all the shenanigans going on around him between the twins, Albert and the rest of Eloise’s menagerie. For two people who seemed so different on the outside Charles and Eloise’s hearts matched perfectly. I find anything by Samantha Holt is worth reading and this one will definitely be read again many times.

Entertaining and quick read. Good characters with a lot of charm and interesting personality. Love history and how we perceive how the characters would have acted. Fun story! Would recommend.

A short yet highly entertaining, witty, sweet and fun adventure filled with engaging charters, witty dialog, emotional twists and heart racing turns. Was a great read from beginning to end. Really enjoyed this relaxing read.
What’s not to love about a Cinderella story although a great twist and that made me adore this delightful story! Elosie is left with a stepfather and two desolute step brothers when her mother passes away. She has amassed a menagerie of animals who she rescued and with the help of a stablehand takes care of them.
But her stepfather is determined to marry her off to Charles, the new Earl of Marlton. But what happens when he meets Elosie. She is not exactly what he expected but she is wealthy and has a lot of connections. But what does she think of him?
A delightful fun story with lots of fun animals, including a naughty parrot and an attraction that only grows. That is if other prankster boys will leave them be! Loved it!
Put-Upon Heroine, Evil Stepbrothers, and Eventually Worthy Hero
This is a very short read and only loosely based on Cinderella. I wasn’t quite sure what I thought about the hero; I didn’t particularly like him at first, which is usually a pretty big no-no for me as I have to like the hero for a romance to work. But as I continued with the book, and as his thoughts towards the heroine changed, I found myself liking him more and more. The heroine was a sweetheart, taking care of injured and unwanted animals and acting as mistress of the household after her mother’s death. She was quite beleaguered, living in a household of all men who didn’t particularly care for her, her stepfather and two stepbrothers. The stepbrothers are vile buffoons who seek to embarrass and sports the heroine at every turn. The stepfather is dismissive and uncaring. The book can be read in just a few hours, and the author does keep it on point with the story and plot appropriate for a novella of this length. I found myself enjoying this charming little read.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Sweet, sometimes funny and just relaxing to read. This third installment of the series is a standalone take on Cinderella, a little looser interpretation than the first two, which I enjoyed. Holt really made the story her own.
The characters were likeable (or not likeable in the case of the story’s villains) and the story was well paced with relatively short chapters. These are perfect for when you just have a little bit of time to read.
I guess the biggest compliment I can give is that I’m genuinely sorry this is (currently) the last one in the series and I hope that Holt writes more of them. I read them all on Kindle Unlimited but if you didn’t have that, I see there’s a box set that I would consider definitely worth the price.
Available on Kindle Unlimited at time of review.
Dance With Me At Midnight is book three of the Regency Fairy Twists and my favorite so far. In this book we get Eloise and Charles’s story. Charles is new Earl of Marlton and needs a wife and Eloise’s stepfather has decided she is to the one. This is a Cinderella retelling with interesting characters both human and animal and a great epilogue.
Book three in the Regency Fairy Twists series a well written short story, I want to read more of this series. Eloise Cinclair and Charles, the Earl of Marlton’s story. Those step-brother of hers where a real pain. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Eloise needed to impress the lord that was coming to the celebration. Her step father had already given her orders. Her evil twin step brothers were determined to thwart her pairing. Charles was a lord needing to wed. He was coming to see if Eloise would suit him. He was determined she wouldn’t. Will these two get together?

Instead of Cinderella with the evil stepmother and stepsisters, we have Eloise with the evil stepfather and stepbrothers. She has taken care of her stepfathers household and looked after her two stepbrothers since her mother died. Now, her stepfather is telling her she must marry by summers end, to a man she has never met. However, Eloise does not want to marry someone she has never met and she is determined to fight it. Besides, if she marries what will happen to her animals?
Charles, the Earl of Marlton, expected a poised, elegant and controlled woman as his future bride. That is not what he finds upon meeting Eloise. Eloise is nothing of what he expected to find, although she is beautiful, and he has promised to stay and get to know her, so stay he must. But how in the devil is he supposed to get to know her when she’s constantly running off with the stablehand or chasing after one of her animals?
This was a charming book and a fairly quick read. It is a spin on the classic Cinderella but with a twist.
