The final book of the Walker Brothers Trilogy!!!What happens when your entire future is destroyed in moments? DaneMy name is Dane Walker, and I’m entirely, irrevocably damaged. I lost my whole life in the plane crash that killed my father and left me scarred, both physically and emotionally, barely clinging to life in a hospital as the sole survivor of the accident.. I wasn’t fit to function in … wasn’t fit to function in the city, so I moved to my own private island in the Bahamas to lick my wounds alone.
I’d spent my adult life building up my solitary existence on Walker’s Cay.
I was fine with being by myself.
I was resigned to my fate.
But then I met her.
My brothers sent her; I wanted to send her away.
But…I couldn’t.
Something about Kenzie Jordan reminds me of myself. She’s broken just like me. I want to save her from whatever secrets she’s hiding. She was handed a pretty raw deal in life, and she’s the strongest woman I’ve ever known. I couldn’t leave her alone on the streets somewhere, so I decided to keep her, even though it costed me my peace of mind.
Sure, I wanted Kenzie in my bed. The white-hot chemistry has been there since the moment I saw her. But she leaves me craving something…more.
I thought I was helping Kenzie…until I wasn’t.
Turns out, we may end up saving each other. She’s the cure for my profound loneliness. Can a messed up, solitary man like me ever be enough for a woman like her? I hope so, because I don’t plan on ever letting her go…

Dane And Kenzie Find A Deep Love After Years Of Suffering In Silence In This Moving Story About Pain And Isolation!
This series is a spin-off from Billionaire Unbound, book eight in The Billionaire’s Obsession series, which is Chloe Colter and Gabe Walker’s story. Here Gabe’s billionaire cousins get a series all their own. Like Gabe, his cousins Trace, Sebastian, and Dane hale from Texas. They faced tragedy six years ago when their newly remarried father died along with Karen, their new stepmother, in a plane crash. Dane, the youngest brother and recent high school graduate, had been on the plane as well. He survived, but barely. His body is marred in scars, a reminder of that day that changed young Dane’s life forever. It changed them all. Trace and Sebastian had been in college and had not been on the plane. They had survivor’s guilt. Dane turned to seclusion and immersed himself in art. Sebastian gave up on ambition and lived life in the fast lane without a care in the world. And at age twenty-one Trace, the eldest, had been forced to tone back his aspirations and instead take over running the family business. He had just graduated from college and was planning on earning his MBA.
Release!, book one, is Trace Walker and Eva Morales’s story. Trace, twenty-seven, has been head of the Walker family for six years now. His life took a turn for the serious side after the accident took his father’s life. Trace’s life is rigid and controlled – everything is about control. He runs the family business, which includes Walker Escapes, a string of luxury resorts with locations around the world. Like his cousin Gabe, Trace chose to move to Colorado, and his corporate headquarters were eventually relocated to Denver.
In Player!, book two, Sebastian Walker and attorney Paige Rutledge get their happy ending. Sebastian, twenty-seven, is a new man. It was nearly one year ago when his brother Trace had fallen for Eva and the three brothers had celebrated the holidays together. After a long overdue heart to heart, Trace and Sebastian had come to a new understanding. While Trace had needed to step up and take charge after their father passed, Sebastian had felt aimless for years. Without assigning blame, they agreed that Sebastian would repurchase his share of Walker Enterprises and put his party days behind him. Sebastian had grown weary of the playboy lifestyle. He wanted to do something meaningful that contributes to society. As an engineer, he has tinkered with renewable energy and now hopes to make Walker Enterprises a global leader in solar and wind energy, bringing the U.S. into the forefront of the field.
In Damaged!, Book Three:
Note that although the book says that a year has passed since Sebastian’s story, this book essentially begins right where the last book left off. The holidays had passed in Sebastian’s story without Dane joining his brothers in Denver. He claimed he was too busy with work to get away, and they worried for his mental health. His years of seclusion on his private island couldn’t be good for him, and they needed to nudge him into getting out more. Trace took it upon himself to contact Paige’s best friend Mackenzie, who had worked for an art dealer in New York. Unbeknownst to Dane, he and Sebastian hired Mackenzie to be Dane’s assistant. This book opens with Mackenzie’s arrival on the island. Based on the timeline from Sebastian’s story, it is probably February or March.
Dane Walker, twenty-five, is still telling himself that he will get used to being alone. It was eight years ago that he survived the plane crash that took his father and his new step-mother. They physical pain had been unbearably difficult, but mingling that with the emotional pain of losing his only remaining parent had done a job on his psyche. Dane faced years of reconstructive surgery, and with the burns that covered his body he learned that it was easier to stay out of the public eye. As a billionaire, he had options. He purchased a private island in the Bahamas where he could rest and regroup. The art program he had planned to attend was no longer an option in his mind, so he eventually built an island paradise complete with an art studio and designed his own program of study. Today his haunting oil paintings are highly sought after, typically selling for seven digits. But he has no need for money, having managed what he has so successfully. His art is his passion. Although he is lacking in companionship, he expresses himself freely through his masterpieces. Still, he longs for the companionship of a woman that won’t cringe when she looks at him. But he learned his lesson with Britney, and although he knew she only cared about his money, he had given it a try. That experience had left him so soured that he had given up on the notion of it entirely. So when the holidays had come around again this past year, he didn’t want to burden his brothers, both head over heals in love, with his sullen mood. He still hoped to get used to living his life alone.
Mackenzie Jordan, twenty-five, has not had an easy life. She had hoped to bring herself up and out of poverty by pursuing a career in modelling at eighteen, but that dream soon came to a crashing end. There was one lasting relationship she had in her life: her best friend Paige Rutledge. When she returned from L.A. to Boston, it was the one time in her life that luck was on her side when she came upon Paige’s listing for a roommate. The years they lived together were the best of her life, but she knew they would come to an end when Paige graduated from Harvard Law. Paige was destined for great things. Kenzie had hoped her modelling career would finance her own college education, but instead she spent years struggling to pay the rent. She had tried to start over in New York. She worked as a receptionist at a renowned NYC art gallery – Keith Maxfield Fine Art. She loved art herself and was thrilled to have a job in the industry. When Trace Walker called her and asked if she would agree to become Dane Walker’s assistant, she didn’t hesitate to accept. She loved Dane’s work and considered the opportunity a life saver – the timing could not have been better.
Dane and Kenzie’s story deals with deep pain and isolation. Though Dane prefers solitude and Kenzie loves a big city, they have both been socially isolated for years. Neither has parents to lean on. Dane doesn’t want to be a burden on his brothers, nor does Kenzie want to accept help from Paige. They both suffer in silence instead. They both wear scars that shape their outlook on life. Their story is a combination of despair and hope. It is about finding beauty in imperfection. They both have issues of trust, though. Their story has challenges, but a secret may yet tear them apart. This third and final story in the Walker Brothers series does a nice job of bringing the characters all back together. It also digs deep into both Dane and Kenzie’s history, giving more meaning to their stories. Dane’s story is endearing. His silent struggle makes him appear eccentric to the outside world. Kenzie has her own issues, and her desire to learn more about the artist whose work she so admires leads to a beautiful love story. The couple eventually earns a happy ending.
Dane and Kenzie find a deep love after years of suffering in silence in this moving story about pain and isolation. Their steamy chemistry sizzles when they let their walls down. Their story brings a nice ending to the series. The story is well-written and plot-driven. The characters are well- developed. It is written in first person. The POV alternates between Dane and Kenzie, with chapter five in Trace’s POV. I rate this book 4.5 stars.
I had been looking forward to Dane’s book since the mention of him in the first. The setup for this one became clear in the second and I dove right in. It’s a good book. Dane sees himself as damaged and the only one that can convince him he’s worthy of love is a woman that is damaged in her own ways too. I really enjoyed Kenzi and Dane. What I didn’t enjoy was the constant back and forth between the past and present for the two of them. It seemed pointless. They could have had conversations in the present that would have bonded them more than just us as a reader seeing a window into each of their seperate past. In particular, I swear I almost screamed when, in the middle of a long overdue sexy scene, the author decided to cut backwards to the past for a chapter before continuing on. It ruined all the momentum for me and made me want to throw my device across the room. It’s a quick read so I’d still recommend it and the ending had a couple of nice twists I didn’t see coming plus if you’ve read the first two books and you’re like me, you have to read the third to finish it out. I liked the Walker Brothers as a whole and the women that stole their hearts are fierce.
Two lost lonely souls find each other and happiness. Great story that touches your heart. Dane Walker is bulldozed by his soulmate, Kenzie when she hired by his brothers as a personal assistant. Their chemistry is instant but their self preservation strong until they can no longer resist.
“Damaged!” (The Walker Brothers Book 3) by J.S. Scott is a fantastic read. I loved Dane and Kenzie’s story. This was a terrific addition to this series. I loved catching up with Trace and Eva, and Sebastian and Paige. This story was packed with romance, passion, family, billionaires, overcoming tragedy, new beginnings, and more. I hope we’ll be seeing all of these characters again in the future. Highly recommend to all fans of romance, billionaires, family, and series.
Loved this story. Dane and Kenzie are great together.
So happy that he got his HEA
I’ll be fine alone. I’ll get used to it. Those nine words became Dane’s mantra after he was severely injured in the plane crash that killed his father. Every time we hear them in this book, it’s like a little stab of a knife. To get away from his pain, he moved to a private island to live his life in solitude…until his brothers decide he needs a personal assistant to help with his work and send Kenzie to the island.
We get a lot of flashbacks in this story, for both Dane and Kenzie. Key moments in their lives are laid out in stark detail which help to better understand how they are reacting to current situations. They’ve both survived very extreme events, and have dealt with the aftermath in different, but similar ways. Despite their extremely different circumstances, they’ve both found ways to move on, but they also both still battle their demons every day.
This is a heart wrenching story, as Dane and Kenzie help each other truly heal from their pasts with each other, and learn to trust each other. They really are perfect for each other, they compliment each other so well, and when she finally stops fighting what she wants, their passions are able to explode. Their story comes to a very satisfying conclusion. We also get some nice peeks into the other Walker brothers’ lives since the first 2 books of the series, including Sebastian and Paige’s wedding, which is fun.
This is the final Walker brother and the most special one. He was in the plane crash that killed his father and step mother and left him injured and scarred and now lives on an island in the Caribbean. He has pulled away from his family and now even his art is suffering. Finally, his brother hires an assistant for him and sends her to his island. Kenzie has lost her job in New York and is nearly homeless and this is an answer to everything. These two have a connection almost immediately but when Dane discovers her scars there is no going back for either of them. Returning to the states for the destination wedding of his brother and her best friend have them cementing their relationship. This was a beautifully written story of love and healing. So good!
Damaged! (The Walker Brothers, #3) was another great read by J.S. Scott. Dane Walker face a life of solitude due to the accident that took his father from him. He was left scarred , physically and emotionally, due to the plane crash. He moved to a private island in the Bahamas. His brother’s sent Kenzie to be his personal assistant and hopefully bring him out of the life of solitude that he’s been in. Dane tried to push Kenzie away even if she owuldn’t let him. I loved reading Dane and Kenzie’s story, and can’t wait to read more by J.S. Scott.
Audio Review: Damaged! (The Walker Brothers #3) by J.S. Scott (Author), Elizabeth Powers (Narrator)
In a life filled with lemons, Kenzie and Dane have no place to go but up. Damaged blast a hole right through the center of a heart. From a very young age both Dane and Kenzie have seen how unfair life can be, but when love steps in, each may find anything is possible. Loners by choice, realists by necessity can a leap of faith help heal two broken hearts? Scott has a way of opening hearts and minds with the most traumatic of characters. Powers gives life to intriguing characters with her charismatic personality and emotional delivery. Like Kenzie and Dane, Powers and Scott are a perfect match.
Good read I recommend.
Enjoyable fast read.
great

This is book 3 in the Walker Brothers Trilogy. I have been looking forward to reading Dane’s story. If anyone deserves a happy ending this guy does.
After leaving the hospital where he has been recovering from injuries he received from a plane crash that took his father’s and stepmother’s lives he moves to his private island in the Bahamas to finish he recovery thinking he can’t live in society as he knew it. He pretty much shuts himself off from everyone.
His well meaning brothers’ send Kenzie Jordan to his island under the guise that he needs an assistant. They are worried about him. He’s not very nice to her at the beginning but gives in to her staying. Before long she makes herself invaluable to him. She seems to know when to push Dane on certain topics and when to back off. I think it’s because she can relate to him like no one else can.
There is a build up of sexual attraction between these two that gets pretty intense before they act on it. I love how during this story how they barely tolerated each other at the beginning, actually became friends with their opening up to each other and are right at that edge to take their relationship deeper and into a more meaningful place.
Also as we read along we discover that Kenzie has scars of her own. I think that is why they connect so well. They gain so much through each other. With Kenzie by his side he’s reconnecting on a deeper level with his brothers and life outside his island.
I love Dane and I’m so happy Kenzie came into his life.
