Located in Pasadena, CA, I feel I know the area.
Boring. It just didn’t capture my attention past the first 20 pages
I have enjoyed these books…they are an entertaining light read with relatable characters
Quirky woman copes with life showing determination and wit. After the first war, husband damaged beyond repair and in despair she manages to grow her spiritualist business even knowing it is fake but genuinely wanting to help her clients as well as gladly accept their money. Her curiosity and nosiness actually help solve crimes.
What a delightful character Daisy Gumm is! Can’t get enough of her charming wit and all the crazy situations she gets herself into.
i have bought the rest of the series. I really like Daisy’s changing relationship with her husband.
Always enjoy Daisy Gumm series books!
I love Daisy! Shes a go getter with a twist. Cool howb.c she works things out. I recommend this highly.
I truly enjoy Daisy Majesty and her unique occupation. Set in the roaring 20s in Pasadena the author captures the decade very well.
I seem to remember I got Book 1 free and enjoyed it so much, I purchased the remainder of the series. Daisy Majesty Gumm is an engaging character who becomes a psychic in order to help support her family. Early Hollywood, historical Post WW1.
Interesting premise, a spiritualist who knows she sn’t one,but who cares enough to solve mysteries.
I am looking forward to reading more books from this author !
While it still annoys me that the author chooses to recap EVERYTHING in EVERY book (yes ok we know she was a Gumm before she married Billy, when she got her first Ouija board, and how she acquired the name Desdemona), I finished this set of three books, and immediately bought book 7. Which didn’t have as much recapping. Hallelujah
Love Daisy. Fun though absurd plot lines. Realistic history of time period
Daisy is a wonderful person. I like how you can relate to her wrestle to do that which is good and right with those human and selfish thoughts we all have. She is a character with integrity.
The characters and the plots were fun!
Okay, but it gets a bit tedious with Daisy’s continual complaints about being poor and her severely war injured husband.
I read these first and then bought the books 1-3.and 7. The characters are smart, funny and engaging. Makes me want to know what happens next.
I actually was surprised to learn this is a contemporary writer. You would think you were right there in the 1920’s, book suggestions and all. It gives a time capsule of the 20’s, but also is testimony to the horrors of war and the resiliant way people handle adversity. The heroine, Daisy, and the way she handles every day life is testimony to why families and lives can carry on.
Plus, there are small mysteries intertwined in the stories.
Enjoyed all the books a lot.
Daisy Gumm Magesty is a medium who conducts seances and reads tarot cards. She realizes that what she does isn’t real, but she also knows that she does give comfort and support to those who hire her. At 20 years old, she is the main breadwinner for her family, including her husband who has lungs damaged by mustard gas in World War I. The book is interesting in the way the author portrays the cultural transitions occurring in the 1920’s. Plots are believable, and the struggles are realistic. An enjoyable read.
