From award-winning, bestselling author Alice Duncan comes the very first Daisy Gumm Majesty Cozy Mystery Boxset that “teems with period detail and characters who make it so enjoyable… especially effervescent Daisy.” ~BooklistIt’s the 1920s and Daisy Gum Majesty is doing her part to support her family as a medium by holding séances and interpreting tarot cards for the rich and famous.STRONG … famous.

Interesting character but too simple a story not really interesting
This series gives a glimpse of two worlds. Taking place after WWI, it contrasts the haves and have nots, the aftermath of that war and how Daisy copes with the loss of her dreams when her husband comes home from the war. It deals with some real issues but not in a maudlin way. Sometimes happy, sometimes teary, I really like this small set of stories.
Enjoyed the historical aspect of the book as it takes place after World War I. Daisy Gumm Majesty is trying to make ends meet for her family as she is the breadwinner. She is 19 and her husband is disabled from the War. This is a set of cozy mysteries about a young woman solving mysteries by being a “spiritualist”. The characters are funny and it is interesting learning about life in 1917.
The heroine has a fun and distinctive voice, the stories are compelling, and the author has a nice sense of hsitorical place
Repetitive, repetitive, repetitive.
A nice concept for a “cozy”, but did I mention how repetitive it was?
Are ya getting a little annoyed?
I was.
Daisy the spiritualist is a funny, earnest young lady doing her best to take care of her family after her husbands devastating injuries in the first world war. Her adventures are over the top!
Daisie Gumm is a hardworking young wife whose husband is severely disabled from war wounds. He doesn’t want her to work but they need her income. So she hires out as a medium fortune teller to the wealthy women who can afford her. Daisie is spunky and brave and funny. A cute series, not my favorite, but entertaining.
Fun story, light reading. No deep plot, but enjoyable.
Had never heard of ms Duncan four weeks ago, now I have read twelve of her books in twelve days and I will never forget her writing. Wonderfully written, entertaing characters, a breath of fresh air. Thank you so much.
Love the Daisy Gumm Majesty books and this boxed set brought three great reads in the series. A good balance of fun and mystery with an interesting take of the period (post WWI). Always excited to find out what is happening with the character, her family, friends and clients. It is sure to keep me glued to the page. Just finished the second set of Daisy’s adventures. Hoping for another boxed set of the next three books.
Loved the dialogue, and it frequently made me smile.
Gave you a look into family life after world war 1 that includes fashion, everyday life and norms.
Entertaining, with informative glimpses into the world of fake mediums
I could have smacked the heroine silly. She is stupid and does incredibly ridiculous things while trying to “solve” the mysteries. She also lies … a lot …even when the truth would be more appropriate. I didn’t like her much …. but I kept reading through all three books.
A delightful read with fun characters and a peak at California in the 20s.
I love Daisy, I love when she goes into her spiritual mood, her wafting, the characters, not always the predictable, I’ve read the whole series, and am waiting for the next book. I also like her description of her clothing, I like book set in the 20′ and 30’s.
I love Daisy and Sam great books everyone
Light reading. The post-World War I period in Southern California is interesting in itself, and Daisy Gumm is a plucky heroine.
I JUST love THIS SERIES!!!!!
A great costume mystery series with undertones of paranormal goings on. A wonderful heroine and great cast of characters support this interesting premise.
